This is a small guesthouse, with three rooms of different sizes, in a newly renovated building, with a high level of finishing touches. The property is owned and managed by Giulia and her brother Gian Paolo. Giulia cooks the delicious breakfasts. There is a rooftop with space to read, sunbathe, watch the sun rise over the mountain, and eat breakfast. The service is personal and friendly. Gian Paolo provided up-to-date information about the footpaths, the weather, timetables, etc. We learned what these siblings did before they opened Locanda Il Carugio, about their family that lives across the road and more.

We didn’t turn out to be the great hikers we thought we were. This property is a 15-20 minute uphill walk from the train station, with a spotty shuttle van service from the train station to the village center. However, since this guesthouse is actually on the way to the town center, if one is walking, the walk isn’t as long as it might have been.

It was in a beautiful setting. We hiked into Vernazza on a few occasions and enjoyed the scenery on the terrace of the hotel.

We were there during the off season and there weren’t too many restaurants open in Corniglia. Also, the hotel room was cold occasionally and there was no heater but the cold period wasn’t long; it was rare.

Fantastic location with a welcoming, friendly, and warm hosts. Locanda il Carugio is very near the center of Corniglia as well as excellent restaurants and a very short walk to the train station. There is a beautiful terrace to overlook the Ligurian Sea. The breakfast is also outstanding!

Breakfast was very fresh, delicious and fresh squeezed orange juice was so refreshing! The room was in the excellent condition and the location is walking distance to the town and train station. The owners came to greet and we really felt comfortable in their newly built building! The views from the breakfast areas are stunning. We had a such wonderful time and definitely will be back!

Where to begin...so many good things! Gianpaolo and family were so friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious, the room was spacious and comfortable and clean, and the views from the terrace were stunning. This was our favorite place we stayed at for our honeymoon!

Everything was really perfect, the owners (brother and sister) are extremely nice and helpful with spotless English. The breakfast on the beautiful terrace overlooking the sea and the coast was a dream and more than delicious.... We are sooooo excited with this accommodation.... You need to climb a small hill from the train station but there are shuttles going for 2,50 eur if needed.... Corniglia is quiet but lovely and you always get something to eat and drink there or you can oick up pizza and eat it on the lovely terrace in the hotel.... We will come back and can only recommend!!!

We had a suite with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, which was modern and very comfortable for the two couples. The breakfast was diverse and delicious every morning. Julia and her brother, Gianpaolo, were gracious hosts and took care of our every need. We had a sea view and we were steps from the town and train station. We had a magnificent stay and would recommend a stay to everyone.

The location, the views from the rooftop deck. They paid attention to detail. Everything exceeded my expectations, from the size of the room to the made to order breakfast! Beautiful place! They were even kind enough to drive us to the train station. I will definitely be coming back next time I travel to Italy.

Very spacious and stylish rooms and a great view from the terrace. Everything was super clean! Located in a less touristic (but still very beautiful town) which was a plus for us. The breakfast was delicious and it also included daily specials. The staff was super friendly and got local tips for exploring the area.

In order to reach the train station we had to walk 10’ down the hill and 10’ upwards on the way back, which was exhausting under the sun. But this is something we were aware of and I guess it is almost everywhere the case in Cinque Terre. Not really a problem of the property itself.

We arrived to a very warm welcome from Lidia, and she and her family were extremely kind, helpful and generous throughout, which made our stay very special. The locanda is an easy walk up the road from the train station and very quiet while being just a few minutes‘ walk from the village and the walking trails. We stayed in the two adjoining rooms which were spacious, immaculately clean and very comfortable, with a huge bathroom and excellent shower. Beach towels and clothes detergent/clothes horse in the room were appreciated too. Breakfast was really fantastic with delicious hot and cold choices, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. It was served on the beautiful rooftop terrace with the most incredible views over the sea and to the neighbouring village. We loved spending time on the sun loungers taking in the views. Overall, this was accommodation of the highest quality - we loved our stay and hope to return again in future.
