A lovely family feeling. It has everything you need and a very warm welcome. Open kitchen and we were offered a tasty soup with the whole family. Really kind. Nice seats on the terrace. Parking space inside. Especially wonderful if you are alone or staying longer because the Señora is so kind, open and would help with anything. Highly recommend it for an oasis in Cartago. The city centre is also pleasant with some antique buildings.

It would be good if the sleeping rooms were separated from the living room with a curtain or door so that moving from the bathroom to the bedroom is more private.

We stayed one night before our trip to Irazu. They allowed an early check in as well as keeping the luggage the next day until afternoon, so we do not have to keep it in the car unprotected. The owner and her son is very kind, told us many interesting information about the location, gave us tips and so on. Car parking possible on the spot. Very clean.

The only thing is perhaps a shared bath, but it is no problem and it is very clean. You also live with the owner in her house, but that is advertised.

Kindness, family-atmosphere, cleanliness

Spacious room with a double bed below and a single bed above, can easily accommodate 3. The room is well prepared for the colder nights around Cartago. Toilet is shared and very clean, as is the room. There is a great reading lamp near the bed and a shared veranda with armchairs looking to the garden, nice to sit down for breakfast or dinner. The well-equipped kitchen and fridge can be used and Berna, the owner, leaves coffee done every morning. She is a school teacher for ethics, stands up very early and returns home at around 5 pm. She is really nice to talk to and ready to help or advice on options around. The house has a recycling policy and offers plenty of different containers to dispose of garbage. The address can be easily found in google maps (coordinates are correct). Calle 0 is far from central Cartago but conveniently located near the main road that goes to Parque Nacional Irazu. There are several restaurants close to the house, and a supermarket Maxi Paly at less than 1 km.

Very friendly and helpful owner, homely atmosphere, clean and beautiful rooms. It was quiet.

It could be closer to the city centre, but on the other hand we had it close to the bus to Irazú volcano.

I love the Peace and Quiet at Casa Irazu. The garden is tranquil and the Wi-Fi is strong. It feels like home and the accommodations are very clean. There is a very popular pizza place called Wood's that is known for it's sangria and excellent pizza.

That I didn't book more days (my fault of course).😀

Lovely home with lovely host, facilities are useful, and the birds and flowers and gardens are nice, fair pricing, removed from the busier parts of the city so it is relatively calm, on the edge of town in a safe feeling neighborhood.

Can hear others from my room, may not bother some but when I am in 'resting at home mode' I am a huge introvert and love my space.

No hot water for a shower, not a place to 'stick around' the cleaning lady came early and all chairs were stacked, dishes put away etc.

Property is extremely clean and comfortable. Beautiful gardens and we felt like we were at home. Muchas gracias Berna!

Casa Irazu is in a quiet neighborhood and if you're looking for a peaceful night and getting some good sleep this is it. The Beautiful property and the kind and gracious host will keep you coming back.

The host is very welcoming and lovely. Mi casa es su casa style :) The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is great to cook in. There's everything you need for a comfortable stay. Strong internet too, in case you need to get some work done ;)

This is a great place to stay! Berna is a very friendly, communicative and helpful host. Her house is beautiful and the room I stayed in was big, clean, comfortable,... You can use the kitchen to cook for yourself also. The garden is just gorgeous! There was a veranda in front of my room so I could enjoy the garden even more. :-) It's a place to feel very welcome from the first minute you enter.

Berna is a really sweet and accommodating host; I felt taken care of like family. A really great, authentic Costa Rican food menu as a bonus.

I loved staying here! The room was very clean and comfortable. My host exceeded my expectations, she was absolutely wonderful! Casa Irazu is not far from Maxi Pali for shopping and close to main roads if you want to go exploring which I highly recommend. It seemed like there was always coffee in the kitchen that was available and much appreciated.
