Always a good time. Never disappoints!

The house was absolutely perfect for our end of summer vacation after our daughter’s wedding! Hattie’s place had such a friendly family vibe, with large rooms, lots of seating, a patio, front porch and one awesome large screened in back porch with such a beautiful view. We had other families and friends rent other places and had plenty of room to have dinner together in the evenings with all of the outdoor space just like a mom would want….thank you!!

Our family had a wonderful second visit to this beautiful riverfront property! The location is perfect for visiting your Marine - five minutes to the bridge! Reviews for the property are completely accurate - home is clean, with large, comfortable seating areas, and a well-equipped kitchen for family gatherings. The screened-in porch and sunsets are memorable. Host makes certain you have everything you need for an enjoyable experience!

The pictures do not do this spot justice! It is much more in person and so very welcoming and comfortable. The story of the home and property is special, makes you love this place that much more. Absolutely everything you might need to be "at home" away from home is found here. Communication with the owner is great! We had a tropical storm roll through while there and the owner contacted us to share important information for us to be ready and stayed in touch when we responded with updates after the storm passed. We are a veteran family and one military base is across the river from the house. We really enjoyed the air show (training) one day from the comfort of the screened in back porch. Our pets loved the space and enjoyed being welcome on our trip. There were six adults and we all had our own areas to escape to for quiet time as well as plenty of spots to play games and do puzzles. The beds were comfortable and each room has a couch or sitting spot to relax at the end of a busy day. We cooked every day and the kitchen is fully stocked, most everything you would need for any meal prep is found. Close to Food Lion grocery store as well as local farm stands with fresh vegetables and fruits and seafood markets for catch of the day items, some were within walking distance. We enjoyed dinner out at Riverview and coffees daily from Coffee Haven (such nice people!). Close to many attractions and within 10 minutes to the Topsail Island for beach fun.

Beautiful, comfortable and So accommodating for our large party for Mom's 90th birthday. I can't thank our host, Michael, and his mom, Ms. Hattie, enough for offering this beautiful, beloved home for us to celebrate Mom. The photos on VRBO does not do this place justice. The rooms are bigger and better than you can imagine. The sunsets are mesmerizing almost like a painting-too beautiful to describe as it glistens across the water of New River. The huge back porch was a favorite for the family, young and old, for visiting, playing or watching the passing boats or spotting dolphins swimming by and playing in the water. The ramp in the garage and the sofa bed and bathroom on the 1st floor worked out perfect for Mom with her walker. The home, as large as it is, had a warm, cozy, inviting feeling that felt so welcoming. The amenities were beyond compare-from everything we needed in the kitchen, to the extra sheets, towels, paper products, the games, kayaks and rafts, the extra refrigerator and freezer, washer and dryer in the garage, the grill and tables out back and on and on. I just can't get over how much we all fell in love with this house and I couldn't have picked a better place for our stay. The only complaint I have is our time there went by way too fast, lol. Michael even left a nice gift for Mom's birthday. Thank you for making our stay so amazing. We will cherish the memories we made together. We would definitely love to stay again in the future, only longer. *****

The house is spacious and well stocked. There were multiple places for people to hang out. The kitchen was great for family cooking and gathering. The owner responded to our concerns quickly. The kayaks were a bonus. We had a wonderful getaway before school and back to the grind of life. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our week-long stay. The area was quiet and peaceful and the river view was amazing. There was plenty of seating and plenty of tables. The rooms were spacious and great for our small group to spread out in, but plenty big enough for a larger group to still be comfortable. We spent many hours on the screened-in porch. The house was also a quick drive to beach access. Communication with host was quick and easy. Would definitely consider this house again if returning to the area.

The house was beautiful. The only issue I would have changed is the beds are not comfortable at all . The appliances need to be updated a little . Also you need something in the shower to hold your shampoo and other stuff. … Overall I would definitely stay here again…

Beautiful view as on New River. House was spacious. Well stocked. My only negative response would be that the scatter rugs throughout the house do cause a hazard particularly with elderly people. Several of us had multiple issues with tripping on them because they are not "sealed" to the main carpet. All and all, I would recommend this rental. It was better than being on the ocean.

We throughly enjoyed our stay on the New River. This was water front. Great fishing and wonderful neighbors. Landed and ate 2 black drum fish off the sea wall. Hooked twice something that broke 30 lb test line. Our younger members walked to the best seafood restaurant around. House was very clean and spacious. More sofas than I’ve seen in one house. Our handicap member loved the ramp into the house from the garage. It was nice to have the car in the garage out of the sun. He stayed on first level on the sofa in the den with bath right around the corner. The view from the screened porch was where we spent a lot of time enjoying the view. We were blessed with wonderfully cooler weather for late June. Shade trees all around and breeze off the water helped.

From the moment we walked in the door, we knew that this was a house that we would come back to again and again. It is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. Very spacious and has very comfortable beds, couches. The neighbors are friendly. Take the time to read and understand what this house means to the owners. That alone will make you feel at home!

We only stayed a weekend but we can’t say enough about this home. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. The location was perfect for us because were we able to spend time with our son who is a Marine on base at Camp Lejeune. The views over the river are beautiful. My husband would get up around 7am to watch the dolphins swimming by. Michael is a great host and answered any questions right away. The home was very clean with a large kitchen and screened in deck.

We had a great stay. The house was as advertised and the host was very easy to work with.

What a beautiful, well loved and appreciated homestead! We were looking for a relaxing, quiet getaway and could not have asked for a better, more comfortable home and location with a great owner! This is not your typical vacation investment property. This home has a legacy as a loved and enjoyed private residence. You can feel that pride and that the owners want you to enjoy it was much as their family has. The home is large and very comfortable and well equipped to meet all your needs. The location is quiet and truly beautiful. There’s a great local seafood restaurant just down the road.

Great time was had by all for my mom that turned 75 and my 2 dogs that loved swimming in the river. Would definitely recommend!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our visit to “Hattie’s Place.” Michael is a fantastic host, who is welcoming, responsive, and clear. This lovely home is very clean, spacious, and loved. We spent much of our time on the screened-in porch overlooking the river, watching the boats go by and the fish jumping out of the water. Kayaks and hot tub were a fun plus. Kitchen is large and well- equipped. Beds are comfortable with soft sheets, and towels are plentiful. Lovely experience from start to finish!

Michael was very cordial and always responded immediately! House was very nice and clean. Lovely view, peaceful atmosphere, and close to the beach. Short drive over the bridge to north topsail island. First time here. Not many places to eat out but brought lots of food. Good family time. Plus our dog loved the enclosed porch.

Michael was an excellent host. Clear and timely communication and made us feel at home.

The house was perfect!! Our daughter got married at the Topsail Assembly building . The large master suite was the perfect place for her & the bridesmaids to get ready! The photographer was able to take a lot of beautiful pictures inside & outside. Very spacious. The views are beautiful. I can’t thank Michael enough for helping us create great memories!!

We had a girls trip with my mom and sister and grandmas to come visit me and my son. This home was the perfect getaway to be able to sit and enjoy the company of each other. The view was perfect, the home was large enough, all the sitting space, screened in back porch, etc. There are not enough stars to give this home. We are already planning our next stay here! We all did not want to leave. Highly recommend.
