Room was good, with 2 double beds, good air con and nice bathroom - very spacious. There was an air-conditioned room with chairs and desks to work in, and a separate space for phone calls. There is also a roof terrace with seats and hammocks. There is a kitchen with fridge, and coffee provided in the mornings. Staff are very helpful, eg, printed out our flight reservation in case we needed it to enter Costa Rica (we weren't asked).

There was a lot of noise from outside - but any hotel in the centre of San Juan del Sur will suffer from this. Saturday night was particularly bad, as noise goes on well beyond midnight and each day things start up around 6am.

Great location, helpful staff, nice terrace at the top with a hammock. Our bedroom was facing the back so it was also very quiet. Bed was comfy, a/c cold and shower warm. Very nice place to stay in SJDS. It is managed very well and the staff held our luggage safe before and after check in. Recommended

All was great

Location was great, away from the late night noise. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hostel felt secure and comfortable. It’s an intimate space but we still felt a lot of privacy. The room was comfortable and we appreciated the ceiling fan at night along with the AC.

We could have used another trash can in the room (we only had the bathroom one). The hostel is very central and does succumb to neighbors playing music very loudly at night but earplugs helped.

Comfortable rooms with clean bathroom and a really cool community terrace with a view over the city. Also they have fast WIFI!

We didn’t have the tea and coffee equipment in the room as it said in the description but free drinking water in tanks. For the price a little more comfort like extra towel or hand soap or shower gel dispenser would be nice.

We had a very pleasent stay in a seperate bedroom. The hostel is located in the center of San Juan, with lots of nice places (bars, shops, restaurants) nearby. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the room very clean and comfortable.

At night there is a guy sleeping on the floor at the entrance. The guy at the reception told us that there will be someone there at night but we were surprised to see a guy sleeping on the floor. also our window was above the Main Street and there was a lot of traffic noise.

I really really had a great time at this hostel. My room was small but comfortable for 1 person traveling with a carry-on size luggage. I like how they had a wardrobe with hangers. That really came in handy for hanging things up to dry. The owner is there in the day and an elderly but very sweet guy is there during the evenings. Both are very helpful with any questions/needs that I had. Didn’t have a problem with Wifi, and there’s an office space on the top floor for those needing to get some work done. The location is amazing. 5-10 minute walk to everything you could possibly need, and right across the street from Casa Oro. That’s where you can book cheap shuttles to the beach, other towns, tours, etc. Peaceful, quiet, and comfortable. What else can you ask for?

The room was small but perfect for only myself, it has its own private bathroom and a lot of hooks to hang your clothes, towels, etc. I stayed on May so it was not warm and I did't have the urge for a/c. Location is great and staff was very friendly. I would stay again!

Great location right downtown, walkable to everything. Room was decent, with strong AC and the hot water was a surprise! The staff were friendly and the wi-fi worked well. Highly secure with a padlock on the front door most all the time, and someone sitting down there at night. Very convenient to be across from Casa Oro hostal, as it was easy to take their shuttles to the beach for a low price. The hotel was good value for the money overall.

The padlock on the door was a bit annoying. I appreciate the security at night, but it seemed a bit unnecessary to have the chain & padlock on during the day.

We booked 4 of the rooms, and the ones upstairs were definitely quieter than the one my partner an I got that was on the ground floor. It is a basic place, but great if you are only looking for a place to crash that is close to everything. It also has a communal kitchen which came in handy.

The night guy is literally just there to sleep on the floor of reception, so if you arrive a little late, don't expect him to open the door for you :)

Hostel Tropical and CoWorking definitely exceeded my expectations! It's located in the central area of San Juan del Sur so you have plenty of restaurants, surfing lessons around the corner, and even a nearby shuttle to go to the beaches. I'm also working remotely and the WiFi worked perfectly in the coworking space! The owners are asking for feedback and continuously improving the place. Highly recommend for short and long term stays!
