We absolutely loved our stay in Aux Marquises. To start with, it was super easy and nice to communicate with Hélène before our arrival. Once in Saumur, both Hélène and Joel were extremely helpful and great to talk to. The room was calm, super spacious, had a very comfortable bed and the bathroom with a walk-in shower. Aux Marquises is an "AccueilVelo" meaning it is "bike/bikers-friedly" place and there is a place to securely store your bikes - which we absolutely enjoyed. Breakfasts are copious and freshly prepared with some home-made produce (yogourts, jams etc.). Lovely house to stay in with great hosts - highly recommended!

Beautiful old mansion, tasteful modern decoration, delicious breakfast, wonderful hosts and a perfect view over the Loire towards the city center and it’s castle. We had a warm welcome and they had some great ideas to visit in the surroundings. And a practical note: you can park in front of the house and place your bikes in the garage.

Beautifully appointed house. Generous size of room, tastefully decorated, very comfortable bed. Quiet location with river view. Safe storage for our bicycles. Welcoming, kind and attentive hosts, who went and bought rye bread for my husband when they found out that he does not tolerate wheat. Our hostess even prepared some waffles and madeleines from buckwheat just for his breakfast which was excellent already with fresh fruit salad and homemade joghurt.

We loved everything. From the incredibly warm welcome of the owners Helene and Joel to the marvelously refurbished and redesigned ancient house. In very corner of the house and garden, you feel the dedication and love of the owners for their projects. We felt taken care of as if we were part of the family. in one word: a memorable experience.

The hostess Helen was lovely, so welcoming and friendly. She spoke good English and was clearly (and rightly) proud of her hotel - you will find it beautiful and uniquely decorated with large communal/social areas and even a separate gite off of one of the courtyards should you want. I loved the individuality the rooms, each being themed differently and named after a French lady of import, very fitting for a hotel named Aux Marquises! Whilst we had the cheapest room 'Constance', the larger look well worth the extra and I do wish we weren't so budget conscious that night! One could spend a very happy time in the largest, 'Josephine'. You may have read other reviews regarding the breakfast, all I can say is wow! Homemade crepes and jams, poached egg, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, cereals and all wonderfully presented - an experience by itself whilst being waited upon by Helen and her husband - I couldn't recommend enough! I do hope we can return here in the future.

We only stayed 1 night as we were passing through (we do love Saumur), a shame as much time could be spent in the boudoir, lounge or games room, and when the weather is good the outside spaces. Whilst these seemed recently planted in May 2022, they are lovely nonetheless and once matured will be beautiful.. One thing to be cautious about are the antique wooden stairs, they can be slippery! There's a sturdy handrail either side though.

Perfect location, really nice view on the river, close to city center and very calm. Hélène and Joël are both super nice and helpful people, they’ve made their place like a home away from home for guests.

From the delicious fresh fruit salad and home made yoghurt, to the freshly baked brioche, breakfast was truly superb. Nothing was too much trouble for Elaine and Joel. Their house is amazing and they were excellent hosts.

Beautiful old restored mansion, very well located and with beautiful views. Its owners, Joel and Ilen are excellent hosts. Highly recommended.
