What a great experience! Friendly, helpful staff and great location. I've stayed in the four star hotels in Stralsund and not had nearly as good a time. It's a very European hotel, and I like that. If you like cookie-cutter box hotels, then this isn't for you, but if you like a memorable, individual experience, this is hard to beat.

Choose this hotel because right opposite train station which was a convenience we needed. And also for the price. Nothing special, but fine. Only some of staff spoke passable English, so beware if you struggle with German.

Hotel was fine for our purposes. About a10-15 minute walk from the center of the Old Town which is good. Location therefore ideal for people who dont need the quaintness of the Old Town on their doorstop to make their stay. Nice grand old Building, not really matched by the interior, but rooms are adequate and fairly large

3,5 stjärnor tyckte vi inte att det levde upp till. Rummet var slitet, likaså badrum. Prövade en middag på hotellets restaurang, och hade övrigt varit som den maten skulle hotellet varit fem-stjärningt.

The hotel is right across from the railway station, and a pleasant 10 minute walk into town. We rather liked our double room, especially when we saw it had a balcony. However,it was out of bounds and just to re-inforce the notice telling us not to use it, the balcony doorhandle had been removed. Another notice in the bathroom listed the prices for having your towels changed. Apparently if you didn't hang them up, they would be changed and a charge would be incurred. We hung up our wet towels and there they were when we came in later. Still wet. Breakfast was fine, but although we were down at 7.20am, about 60 pensioners had beaten us to it. They start early in Stralsund! We had a great stay in Stralsund, but the hotel was distinctly average.

The Royal Hotel in Stralsund with its 3 stars was quite comfortable with large well equipped room. TV, video, dvd, cd, tape and eadio players. Sadly the TV remote was broken and the tv would not switch on. The shower head would not stay in the chosen position and kept sliding down making it too low. The bathroom walls were grubby and I have to say the towels while clean, did smell a little of ciggarette smoke - ugh. That said it was large comfortable room. The breakfast was excellent. I'd certainly stay again.

Refurbished Victorian-Era hotel. Super friendly staff. Excellent location - walking distance to medieval center of a town that has shed its East German (communist) dreariness. Lots of historic sites a stone-throw away. Pleasant restaurants and cafes in town.
