The staff were very kind, very sweet.
The place is the oldest hotel in the area. I appreciated this. And it was clean. The cleaning lady kept checking on me to see if I needed anything. I stayed for 6 nights during a retreat.
The food for breakfast was very good, they were sweet and attentive.
The only thing is my room was very loud, as I could hear the bar and restaurant downstairs. So perhaps have a white noise machine and ear plugs. I believe they did provide earplugs and that was appreciated it.
The drinks were good too.
The other thing is that the front desk would open a bit late, so if I did need something I didn't know who to ask.
Overall it was a good stay,

Amazing hotel in the centre of Glastonbury. Minutes from other pubs, cafés and eateries. Though the hotel provides a great bar and restaurant. Very, very dog friendly. My dog was spoilt by the staff and was allowed in all areas. Highly recommended.

The people were very nice, food was good, the issue isbthat the room was not cleaned. They propably have not hoover the carpet in over a year, unfer the bed was really dirty. Accumulated dust and things from other guests. It is a shame to see a beatiful property poorly taken care of.

As it happens often with rooms in pubs, they look veeeeery tired, almost old. Nothing fancy about them.

We loved the history and character of this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the one thing that let it down was the uncomfortable beds. We stayed in the Nuns room, the beds and the pillows were so hard we didnt have a great night's sleep. A really great place, but we were glad we were only sleeping there for 1 night.

2nd time we've stayed, both times in the old part of the hotel. wonky floors, everything creaks, ancient furniture - it's awesome. and always friendly service.
Oh and a nice breakfast too

This hotel is full of character and history but is need of some TLC. Stayed in a family room which was a good size but in need of refurbishment. The bed was very uncomfortable and the room was musty and in need of redecoration.

Absolutely beautiful hotel and town, so out of this world. Glastonbury Tor was a bit strenuous walk but definitely worth it due to the views at the top.

"Reception area" smelled like the restrooms next to it. Came back down the dangerous winding staircase 3 times trying to figure out where our room was. Tiny, dilapidated old room facing a noisy back area. Room was suffocating hot. Bathroom ceiling looked like it was going to fall in. I know this is a very old building, but as a hotel it should be comfortable.

Great hotel, absolutely dripping in atmosphere.
Manage your expectations this hotel is hundreds
of years old, the floors will creak, the stairs are uneven and the windows aren't double glazed,.all of which are massive plusses in my opinion.
Breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice.
The restaurant is small and fills up quickly so ensure you book a table, and this was one of the minuses for me, usually when I check in to a hotel and they have a popular restaurant, I'm normally asked "will you be dining with us tonight?"
We didn't get that and came down to a 45 minute wait for a table, so our first night we eat elsewhere.
Every thing else was great, it really is a unique place to stay.

A very distinctive hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights while at the festival. We couldn’t pick up the key until the previous guests had left and the guy on reception was lovely and very accommodating. He gave us a call as soon as the key was handed in so we could get to the festival ASAP in the morning. Really appreciated this!
The hotel is full of character, like stepping back into a medieval village or something! Really lovely. The rooms themselves are a little dated and could benefit from a freshen up but we were literally in the room to sleep and then out again. Bed was comfy but be aware the church clock chimes regularly so take earplugs if a light sleeper.
There’s an outdoor key to get in the back door after hours but we were back before midnight both nights and the door was still open. There’s a car park right behind the hotel, literally seconds from the back door. Its £6.50 for 24 hours and you can pay on app. You could also easily find parking on a residential street nearby if preferred.
Breakfast was great and always served very quickly. As a vegan I was happy with the cooked breakfast and provision of plant milks.
Overall location couldn’t be beaten, staff were lovely, great breakfast, no complaints, would definitely stay again.

An Eighteenth century Inn. A fun place to stay with a standard English pub menu.

It was such a fun experience staying in this historic Inn! The decor maintained the historical feel, and it was a fun place to stay while visiting Glastonbury. We were able to walk everywhere (including to the top of the Tor - which seemed dauting but was not that bad!)
For vegetarians - we had a great plant based burger for dinner at the restaurant, and the English Breakfast included in the morning was a very hearty way to start the day. There is also a spectacular Vegan Cafe just down the street as well.

I have always wanted to stay in this historic hotel built in 1497. Bucket list ticked.

The hotel room wasn't really fit to accommodate guests . We brought this up with the manager quite frankly didn't seem that interested in our complaint . He just said it was an old property, with no apology or even an attempt to move us to another room
The fact that water was seen running down the wall with the plaster falling off and towels on the floor to mop it up, A hole in the window, damp coming in everywhere, extractor fan not working making it feel very damp, Stai Stains on the carpet and the chair, a a mattress which seems it had no springs in it was not suitable.
This is all unacceptable for the amount of money that we paid

Fabulous historic hotel with tremendous charm in the heart of quirky Glastonbury. We had a large room with a beautiful four poster bed. The bathroom was modern (except for the separate hot & cold water taps on the sink). I was not comfortable with the intrusive information requests and privacy waivers required to use the hotel Wi-Fi so did not use it.

The property ouses age and tradition. The staff are friendly obliging and polite. The food and drink was good. overall, good value for money.

Excellent and knowledgeable staff,Beautiful surroundings. Steeped in history. Locals were all very friendly. Definitely booking again.

The place was down at heel, a damaged and temporary repair on the window in the room. No easy means of pulling the curtains closed so the streetlighting bathed the room with glare through the night. Generally feels unloved and, given the historical significance and high profile in terms of local amenity the G&P should be much much better than this. The 1980s mega mix which seems to play on a loop during our stay (oh god, not Bono again!) was approaching a 'cruel and unusual punishment' for the staff and certainly not welcomed by us.

Welcoming staff, great location. Rooms in need of a refurbishment, shabby not chic. Breakfast disappointing , no fruit/ healthy options.
Expensive.

A mixed experience; it’s a historic centrally placed building with great character. Staff friendly and helpful. My room lacked a TV remote and had a very noisy bathroom fan.

The staff were lovely and really helpful but clearly very over-worked. The property doesn’t deserve them. The bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable but the bath was chipped, the bath side broken, the shower only partially worked and the hairdryer from the dark ages. The public areas were not so much tired as exhausted. Crumbling plaster, stained dining chairs etc. It should also be made clear that access to the bedrooms is only via a narrow spiral staircase. I realise the property is (of course) listed and will never be short of clients because of where and what it is, but it’s in dire need of refurbishment. I must reiterate that the staff were great and really friendly and helpful but it was perfectly clear to me that there are not enough of them. I would not recommend this hotel.

Hotel was dirty and staff were really rude. Decided not to have breakfast there as the cleanliness was poor and I didn’t want to risk getting sick

Wonderful hotel and staff, however the bar area seating and general decor is in desperate need of upgrading.

Have stayed at the George and pilgrims several times over the last 25 years. This time I was very disappointed. Whatever you do don’t get room 14 . First time in this room and the shower wouldn’t hold a temp , 2 seconds hot , 2 seconds freezing cold . It was tiny , barely room to move . The restaurant was changing menus and had about 10% of the menu available, the staff however was very good , no fault to them . This hotel has a lot of character but not worth the price anymore.

I’ve stayed here a few times over a range of years and know how quirky the hotel is. It’s very old and very beautiful. But, now the hotel is barely fit for purpose.
Pros: the helpful and friendly staff. They obviously work so hard, but there aren’t enough of them do their jobs to a high standard. George and Pilgrims is right on the high street, perfect for all of the sights and pubs and shopping. Parking at St John’s car-park is directly behind the hotel and inexpensive per 24 hour period.
The cons: filthy corridor areas. We checked in at 3pm and the areas still hadn’t been tidied. Piles of bedding in corridor, plastic bags filled with rubbish, drinking glasses, a used razor. Most of it had been cleared over the next hour.
Confessional Room: horrible. Boiling hot. Fan provided and windows did open, but let in the smells from the kitchen. Couldn’t leave one of them open as it banged around in the wind. Mattress: terrible. The entire room shabby, worse than shabby. Hole in the ceiling with lining paper held in place with tape. Plenty of tea/coffee in room.
Bathroom: scruffy, visible damp, but everything worked.
Everything was as clean as it could be.
Avoid this room.
Room 10: avoid. Boiling hot, although radiators off, hot pipes running along side of room. Window could be opened, but had to be propped open.
Bizarre corridor (fire escape route) between bedroom and ensuite bathroom.
Corridor lighting flr 2 sometimes worked, sometimes not. Needed iphone torch.

This historic property walks a fine between shabby chic and plain shabby. Cleanliness is ok amd the hot and cold water was fine however bath controls were difficult to use, bathroom fan sounded like an ancient diesel engine and peeling ceiling paper had been crudely sellotaped.
On the positive side it is atmospheric and very central.

14th century hotel that looks like a castle on Glastonbury high street, friendly staff just a great place to unwind.

Quaint old hotel which could do with some refurbishment. A torn net curtain in the room would have beef better replaced than a poor repair. The toilet leaked water, the room wasn’t cleaned on the second day. The evening meal (chicken burger) was poor. On the positive side the staff were very pleasant and the breakfasts very good.

The inn itself is charming and a beautiful place to stay, most staff were great but the lady who served breakfast had the worst attitude I’ve ever come across, I asked for a table (the place was empty bar two couples and one left immediately) she huffed, said ‘she’d see what she could do but was very busy! Then she went and I could hear her having a good chat and general winge to the other staff, I was totally ignored for 15 minutes so left with my girlfriend and had breakfast next door in the Crown (v nice too)…..an hour after when we went back to check out she had the cheek to come out of her still empty dining room and loudly say ‘there’s the guy tha disappeared!!’ in a ‘let’s pretend she did nothing wrong?’….pity totally changed my experience of the George and Pilgrim….otherwise quirky and interesting place, the rest of the staff were gems.

Really interesting place to stay!
