The property was clean and the staff helpful. It was warm and the window was in the west so it got very stuffy in the afternoons - a fan would have helped.

Gardens are beautiful, food was good, the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The hotel is within walking distance of the town.

The walled garden and grounds are really beautiful with a hexagonal outdoor room to sit in and read or relax. A short walk into the town and a gorgeous walk along the Camcor riverbank. The incredible Birr library is nearby and not to be missed. Birr Castle tour was very enjoyable and the grounds and Science museum are wonderful. We loved Birr so much it’s our 2nd stay in three months.

An excellent hotel with generous and comfortable rooms. The food was delicious, the standard of service was very good and the gym was very well equipped. The hotel was also well placed for access to the town and we enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant walk around Birr.

From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out the staff couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were very big and lovely comfortable beds, big bathroom with lovely complimentary toiletries. We visited the spa which was lovely and clean and lots of facilities all of which we were able to use. Again the staff in the spa were fabulous and very attentive. We ate in the bar at night and found the food excellent value for money and very nice. Portion sizes were very good too. Breakfast in the morning was lovely with plenty of choice from the hot buffet plus you could order other items e.g smashed advacado, poached eggs etc. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would definitely return hopefully soon.

Attended for a wedding. The hotel was fine but I wouldn't rush to stay again. The function room was very cold. Staff kept clearing our unfinished drinks (most minimum half full so clearly not finished) when we were updancing etc. Some staff were very pleasant but others not so much. The room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking available

I imagine this is an excellent property for a wedding function or a business conference. It is a grand, beautiful building and looked lovely with the avenue of trees all lit up at night. The bar/restaurant was extremely lively each evening, packed with guests and locals. As a guest at the hotel, it was not possible to book a table for food and drinks, despite requesting this earlier in the day. This was disappointing and since the bar/restaurant was so busy, when we went to eat dinner we were told we would have to wait in the lounge area until a table became free. The staff in the restaurant/bar managed really well (Dervla was excellent) despite being run off their feet.The food was excellent and quick to arrive once we were finally given a table. Because we were not able to book a table in our hotel (it was busy every night) we decided to eat elsewhere for the rest of our break. I really think that guests at the hotel should be given the opportunity to book a table at the hotel restaurant. Our room was lovely, clean and well serviced each day. The beds were comfortable and the room spacious.

We went for a friends wedding and everything was brilliant from start to finish. It is a beautiful hotel and everything is clean. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend the County Arms

Clean, efficient, friendly. Really pleasant one-night stay. Used the gym twice which was grand. They weren't over the top about the whole Covid thing which is a relief. Breakfast was good enough. Good quality rooms. Peaceful. I'll definitely stay again next time I'm in Birr.

The hotel is very nice, in a good location with a garden. Food in the restaurant was excellent. The only downside was that hotel guests had to book a time for the swimming pool while people from outside were taking slots. All this during a pandemic, when numbers allowed into the pool are restricted.

Just stayed there Friday night with elderly mother and 2 boys aged 3 and 4. Requested family room...luckily specified double and 2 singles which we got but squashed into normal size room...definitely not a family room as I was told. One of my boys has sensory issues so I bring food when I travel with him but no fridge in room so had to throw out food...a 4 star hotel with no fridge in room...i get it you don't want people brining own booze or something but this is not acceptable in a " famiky" room. No children's type food at breakfast...all presented for adults. Terribly unsafe glass topped coffee tables everywhere...lobbies and in corridors...how anyone thinks these are safe I don't know. Overall not a family friendly hotel really despite being billed as ideal for family breaks. Disappointed and would not recommend to my many friends with young children.

All the staff from front of house, housekeeping & restaurant & bar staff were incredibly charming & helpful. Excellent food, the breakfast would keep you going all day. The pool looked great. Kids club was a surprise, although we heard about this from a guest. Had we have been told about it when we arrived, we would have booked the kids in for sure. They would have loved to hang out with the other children at the hotel. Will definately go back next year for Easter.
