Gòd location but poor fa ilities

The staff were very helpful and friendly, but the room was very hot with only one window opening. The bed was quite uncomfortable as well. I don't honesty think I'll go there again.

Friendly staff and sorted out a minor issue with the room quickly, very clean and quiet

Reception staff very polite and helpful. Changed our allocated room to one downstairs to accommodate my disabled husband which was much appreciated. Rather noisy in the morning.

A lovely stay, very nice room, comfy bed, with a great view of the sea front with the amazing sunny weather. Great price and will defo be staying again in the future.

Place looks a little run down from the outside. I was worried when i arrived. Paid to park outside but was told later when checking in to ask them for a parking permit at 2.20 a day. Much cheaper than the parking meter. The room was small and basic but had the sea view we paid extra for. The room had been freshly pained and carpeted. The shower and toilet door didn't close properly due to the thick paint on them. The room was extremely warm and only one window opened a couple of inches. The other was pained shut. Overall the room was fine for a base. My only issues were lack of plugs with only one each side of the bed and the huge headboard that creeked with every movement. Staff are all great and couldn't be faulted. Bar was fine and they offer pizzas on site. That's the only food available i was aware of. All in all a nice stay.

Very Basic. Real trouble was the room was far far too hot to sleep in. Appreciate it’s hot outside this time of year but need to supply a fan or something. Very bad nights sleep for both of us.

Upon arrival, the front entrance stairs had loose step bars which is a shame. lThe room was excessively hot, no A/C, just one window. Had to leave the bathroom fan on all night to draw the hot air out. The walls were so paper thin that we could hear other guest conversations very clearly. We couldn’t articulate the television, which meant when laying in bed, the telly was unwatchable due to it looking like it was filmed in a negative resolution. The towels that were provided were big enough to dry a small child not a fully grown adult. The windows in the single room that we booked for our daughter were extremely filthy. Such a shame really, because the building and where it is situated in itself are beautiful, this place could be so so much better!

Perfect for an overnight stay. Room and bathroom were a little snug and definitely needed a larger TV. Overall good value for money.

MUCH IMPROVED since staying there 10 years ago! Looks like they take a pride in the place now - new ownership I think. Very clean and great price

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Especially for such a budget price. Although it does not have the facilities of other hotels like breakfast and a restaurant, everything else was excellent. My one gripe is the heat of the room and the view from the window which looked out on an internal recess area which was grubby. It was stiflingly hot with the window only able to be opened marginally. It did not matter however as I was out most of each day for the tennis. The staff were friendly and helpful and the shower was amazing. A pity I did not find out that I could have had an electric fan until I left. I would recommend this hotel for budget travellers.

Very friendly staff

I walked into the hotel shortly after 3pm to try to check in only to be stopped at the entrance by a very aggressive and unpleasant member of their staff who told me I couldn’t stay there before he even asked for my name or reservation number. He blamed Hotels.com for making the wrong reservation and was rudely told to go away and find another place to stay. The experience left me feeling shaken, humiliated and belittled. I will NEVER use Hotels.com or The Strand Hotel in Eastbourne again.

Doesn’t even deserve 1 star. The worst experience and staff. I booked a room for 22nd October 2022 but when I arrived, there was a man sitting at a desk refusing our stay despite people coming in and out of the hotel. They handed us a number to call (The hotel number) and all they did was cut the phone on me. I then had to find a last minute room at one of the other hotels along the seafront. They told us that the Strand is being used to house refugees but are still taking bookings and have been refusing all bookings and refusing refunds. I still haven’t been able to get through to the hotel property. The staff at the door were rude and the man I spoke to on the phone was even ruder and dropped the call once I mentioned that I wanted a refund. I also think it’s wrong that online bookings are still active on sites when all they’re doing is taking your money and refusing your stay.

Check-in was very easy and the receptionist was pleasant. Room was clean and bed comfortable enough. It was really hot in the room while outside was cooler it no air circulating in the room and the top window could only be opened a tiny bit. Fire doors slammed and people shouting coming in and out at any time at night. Not recommended at all. Very very noisy and too hot everywhere in the hotel

I arrived at the hotel and was told that I needed to pay £1 by card in order to pay a deposit (I don’t believe this was mentioned when booking the hotel) - I didn’t have my card on me so I wasn’t able to access my room until a friend paid the £1 using his card.When I got to the room, the smell was unbelievable - it smelt like someone had just been to the toilet in there. The room was old-fashioned, and I ended up not staying the night due to how bad it was.

apart from the view which you pay extra for. hotel very run down , lift not working whole stay lots of stairs between ground and 2nd floor . are room was a double they had pushed 2 singles together so u had a massive dip in middle . no mattress protectors .shower in a cupboard . green sink from the 60s taps leaked. and only 1 plug available unless u want ya tv unpluged. uneven floor boards asked for glass of tap water with ice server had to call manager make sure it was free. i kid u not. only good thing was we could leave are bag on check out as are train was later on in the day. unfortunately wont stay again. hotel desperately needs a revamp .

Filthy, rude staff, not COVID safe, walls paper thin. Put a chair against the door to sleep as a member of staff unlocked my door & just walked in while I was getting changed!

The seaview rooms was ok good location as just at the beach , rooms are not cleaned daily so you cannot expect fresh towels or bins emptied on a regular basis , you cannot open the windows wide because of security this can be an issue on really hot days and nights. There is a kettle but the sink is too small so you need to fill it in with a bottle or mugs . Shower was clean but on the small size can be an issue if you like or need your space . The room is non smoking but there was cigarette butts and ashes on the window sill outside that could be easily cleaned . We asked for a second key but had to insist to get one not sure why it was an issue . The carpets in the corridors and hallways smell a bit and need refreshing.
