Very lovely place. Room was well furnished and comfortable. The garden in the back was an idyllic spot.

This is an amazing bed n breakfast in the heart of the historic district. The property is very beautiful and very quiet even though it's in the heart of the city. We stayed at an apartment the week before a couple blocks away that was very loud. It was nice to stay here and have a quiet retreat but still walk to evening. The garden is beautiful and the owner is very very nice. Thank you!!

Nice place within minutes from the center of the city which makes it convenient for sightings. The hostess is very attentive and the place is extremely clean. There’s parking nearby which makes it convenient if you have a car.

The area was safe, nice and quiet, well away from the noise of the weekend crowds, however close enough to walk to all the restaurants and historic places.

This bed and breakfast sits about a 10 min walk from the major attractions. It is managed very well and the staff members are very attentive to the guests. Hot breakfast served punctual every day. The atmosphere is very quaint with a home charm feel to every experience. The wood decor adds a special Ecuadorian feel to your stay. This is a gem.

Lovely mission style B&B. Super clean. The shared spaces including a roof top area, garden area, and parlor are beautiful and exceptionally comfortable. The rooms all open onto an inner courtyard where breakfast is served. The suite room overlooking the street is huge and the most private. The location is perfect with easy and close walk to the river and to downtown. Would definitely stay here again!

Casa Montalvo was a wonderful experience. We stayed five nights in a superior suite. The property is about 5 blocks from the main square. We really appreciated being on a quiet street instead of the noisy square but were only half a block from shopping and restaurants which lined the streets to the main square. Our host, Sonya, prepared a delicious breakfast each morning. I loved the different fresh squeezed juices everyday. The property also had several common areas. Casa Montalvo Bed and Breakfast is a hidden gem for a good price

This amazing casa is an extraordinary place to stay in Cuenca. It is just a couple blocks off the Parque Calderon, but on a quiet and lovely street - the quietest location we found during a recent 10-day road trip through Ecuador. The hostess at Casa Montalvo is an absolutely lovely and charming lady. She could not be more helpful. She allowed us to look at our rooms before check-in to ensure we were satisfied with them (we were more than satisfied!). The entire facility was tastefully and beautifully decorated, and the rooms were so comfortable and quiet we all slept like babies. The bathrooms were modern and provided good water pressure with lots of hot water. Breakfast was served in the central atrium area, and included fresh juices, fruit, toast and eggs cooked to order. The swipe card entry to the building allowed us to come and go as we pleased, and we were encouraged to treat the hotel as our home during our stay. We found the back garden area an absolute delight, and each day we sat on the glassed-in patio enjoying a glass of wine to relax before heading out to dinner. There is also a rooftop terrace with two small tables and four chairs, which provides an extraordinary view over the cityscape. We were delighted with our stay at Casa Montalvo and highly recommend it as the place to stay in Cuenca.

The hotel is in a good location, close to some excellent restaurants and walking distance from the city center. The rooms are simple, but cozy and comfortable. The bathroom is modern, with new fixtures and great hot water pressure. The owner was very friendly and accommodating.

The proprietor is so perfect at managing your stay that nothing else would matter. But nothing else was wrong. A+ property and experience.

Although the host does not speak any english, she was amazing and patient, always able to understand each other. The breakfast was very good and healthy and rooms were clean and comfortable. Great location also, I would recommend it and go back myself also if I am in the area.

We had a delightful stay here for 6 days I speak no Spanish,but my husband does which was wonderful as Sonia was able to explain in detail many things to him and show us the beautiful garden in the back Even if you speak no Spanish she is great at anticipating your needs. I was not feeling well and she made me herbal teas each morning and when we returned later in the day There is a laundry just around the corner You can drop your clothes off and they will bring them back to the hotel A beautiful interior , best shower I had in Ecuador 4 blocks from Plaza Calderon in one direction and about the same to Plaza San Sebasation in the other. I have never worried about health concerns too much on vacations but this time I needed some medical care On the corner is the Clinica Bolivar, a private clinic/hospital which gave me excellent care in an old but spotless Colonical building This B&B is a beautiful gem as was our hostess/owner Sonia

Casa Montalvo is a lovely little place close to the Historic Center of Cuenca. We stayed for 5 days in a superior queen room. While the rooms arent very big, they are clean, bright and comfortable. Our favorite part of our stay at Casa Montalvo was our host, Sonia, who took care of our every need. She makes breakfast fresh in the morning, however you choose! The b&b is about a 6 minute walk to the beautiful central plaza, with abundant restaurants nearby. I highly recommend this b&b to anyone staying in the area.

Although the neighborhood was not the best, stepping inside brought you to a very nice, clean and comfortable place to stay. The owner/manager, was very accommodating to our needs and very pleasant to work with. Breakfast was nice with fruit, fruit juice, eggs, bread and jam. She provided good coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were HOT!. It was a very pleasant stay. We were within walking distance of the main Cathedral as well as several other cathedrals and shopping.
