It was a more traditional stay having to go through the lobby to your room.

The property was clean and the staff were friendly. It was close to dining and shopping. We loved the option of bringing our dog and she was quite comfortable there. We were also able to rent a golf cart right from the property, which was very convenient. The room was great, and the beds were super comfortable. We even loved the little touches of having a porch swing and rockers to hang out. The pool was great after a hot day at the beach.

The lodge is older so don’t expect newer accommodations. The rooms are similar to an older bed and breakfast. But it’s clean and the staff are incredibly friendly. We would be happy to return!

We were pleasantly surprised by Blackbeard’s Lodge. Looking at it from the outside, it looked worn. However the rooms were in excellent shape. The employee who greeted us obviously loved her job and did everything she could to be a hostess. Giving us information about the island and possible activities that were dog friendly.

The staff was great & answered any questions i had. They also recommended great places to eat & things to do. I will definitely be booking another stay.

Great rooms and great value. Our preferred place to stay on Ocracoke.

It felt like the front desk staff and I were best friends by the time we got checked in. So accommodating and lovely! We stayed in the Howards Suite and it was absolutely precious. The pool was perfect and the location is so convenient!

We loved our first stay at Blackbeard’s Lodge! Definitely will return!

Our Bridge Room 4 is bright and cheerful. Memory foam mattress is very comfortable! Our room was clean. I recommend that you add more lighting in the parking area in back of building and behind the pool area. I also recommend signs at the top of stairs for directions to rooms.

The room was a little weird. There were barely any outlets (none in the bathroom). It had a coffee pot but no coffee. The light switch to the bathroom and the tub jets were outsideo of the bathroom. Just a little weird. Bed was comfortable and it was clean.

Super quaint, neat location, just very cool

Front desk people were very friendly. Only suggestion is to provide room hair dryers.

We stayed here last minute one night with our two dogs when the ferry wasn’t running due to wind conditions. The woman at the front desk was incredibly friendly and gave us a printout with local restaurant info(there’s only a few). She was incredibly accommodating to the unexpected, last minute bookings. The room was just what we needed to have a good nights sleep after waiting in the car all day for the ferry.

Property is dated but has charm.

Sherry and the rest of the staff where so awesome. We needed a golf cart for the day and they had them on property. Also ran into an issue and needed help getting locked keys in the car, and in need of a ride to pick up breakfast before catching the fairy back home. They where awesome in helping us out. Definitely enjoyed the stay and will be back again to enjoy front porch time and relaxation. Thanks Keith & Carmen

Blackbeard's Lodge website pictures are deceiving. The lodge is very run down and in desperate need of a major facelift. Paint is peeling all over the outside. The Bridges Rooms are extremely hard to get to especially for senior citizens. The stairs to the Bridges Rooms are dangerous again especially for senior citizens. All stairs are very steep and difficult for senior citizens to go up and down. Website room pictures do not match the actual room. Once you've checked in, maid service does not give new soap or shampoo/conditioner daily. To get to the Rental Golf Carts in the back of the lodge requires walking on boards and pallets nailed together -- again very dangerous for senior citizens. To reach the lodge, you have to walk on mud, dirt and sand from the parking area. Not a place I would recommend to my worst enemy!

Ms. Sherri was an excellent host and made you feel like part of the family.

It was very good older buildings but kept up..got a reall good feel of history.

This is my 3rd trip to the island, 1st time staying in here. I loved learning so much history located throughout the lodge in photographs with hand written captions, and from speaking to the staff, who was also helpful. If you don't rent golf carts from them, you are still welcome to charge the one you rented at their charging station. Intereating fact maybe, this is the only place on Ocracoke that meets ADA bathroom standards. Be mindful that the historic qualities also bring a charming wooden staircase and a warm office area (possible respiratory concerns), but they offerany floor level rooms.

The place was fairly nice. Looks like it hadn't been updated in a while but there were no problems with the room.
