This hotel was exactly what we wanted - QUIET!!! The windows were open at night and all we heard were the waves and the birds. I never sleep through the night, but the time we were here - I slept straight through every night!! Amazing! Staff were brilliant and helpful and your restaurant staff treated us like family. Highly recommend your hotel.

The Sea room and balcony were excellent! Well worth the extra money. Checked in on Monday morning quite early, the female Receptionist managed to” chase up” our room and we booked in. Logan in the Restaurant I would. consider an Asset, our meal booking form was misplaced and he simply sorted it with a cheerful smile.Afternoons spent on the balcony!glass of wine, will book again and recommend to others.

Breakfast was at best chaotic and poor quality. Room was basic with large black stain on one duvet and dirty sink unit in Bathroom. Location is ok.

Except for the location of the hotel, nothing is good about it. Rude front office, smelly rooms, poor food (checked later that the hotel was given 1 star rating a couple of years back), very limited parking and amenities. Terrible experience

Bed linens and towels were fresh, clean, and comfy. However, the shower had hairs in it, and there were two dropped pens on the floor under the desk - suggesting that it doesn't get cleaned thoroughly... The bathroom was good but bedroom fixtures could use updating. Staff were wonderful, location is great. I guess you get what you pay for, it was cheaper than most other places, overall was good and would consider staying again.

Unfortunately for Ocean View, we are well travelled and had just spent an amazing couple of days at the similarly starred/priced Luccombe Hall. What a contrast. OV's reception of us when we arrived early was disastrous (unprecedented for both me and my wife). The hotel is extremely tired, albeit freshly painted and generally clean. The breakfast was fine, being average. The indoor pool is very good and there is a decent ping pong table and small table football (and indoor bowls which we didn't visit). The view from our sea view room was half of the side of other rooms and overlooked the roof of the pool. The owner told us that "most hotels* do not allow food in rooms" and confiscated our pizza, giving it back to us the next day from the fridge. Repeat, our food was confiscated by the owner because hotels generally*, and OV in particular, don't allow food in rooms. *I wonder if room service ever existed anywhere, for example... On the one hand places like OV shoukd be downgraded to 2 star, but this woukd likely ruin them. On the other, they do service a market of less discerning and older coach parties, and probably quite well, so presumably is important for Shanklin. However, for most well travelled people in the mid-market, this is far from a 3 star experience.

Very friendly staff and great location. Best rooms balcony seaview. The hotel has a good facilities but it is dated. A bit more maitenance and tidying up would make it an excellent hotel. We didn't have the evening meal but the breakfast, full English was good apart from the sausages and scrambled eggs! We would return.

I am happy with everything, but cleaning and changing the bed sheets need everyday, but we see cleaner only when we are leaving the room’s, need to put more tea and coffee’s. for the guests. Otherwise Good .

This hotel is a very big hotel with dated bedroom furniture and bathrooms, the beds aren’t the most comfy ! The hotel smells damp but if you are lucky the view from our room was amazing facing the sea , breakfast wasn’t the best cooked breakfast but they had said they were short staffed and had a few coach parties in ! Certainly not worth £166 per room per night ,that was paid !

We stayed at the hotel for a week. The breakfast is served by a member of staff, who takes your order. You need to request extra toast, etc, or you will only receive 1/2 a slice of toast with your meal. The hotel doesn't do lunch, as they cater for coach loads of people, who are out during the day. If you wish to eat an evening meal at the hotel, it needs to ordered at breakfast from a limited menu. The evening meal is not good value. Our hotel room was serviceable, but has not been updated since the 1970's. The hotel is been modernised, and there are room that look lovely, however ours was very dated. The staff were all very helpful and polite. The location of the hotel is fabulous, with sea views from our balcony. There is a lift to take you down to the sea front, with good restaurants. The main town / old town / station and Shanklin Chine are all within 10 minutes walk, so a car is not needed.

I stayed here last minute as my family were visiting IOW. I am disabled but travel by motorcycle and hobble about with a stick. Sarah the reception lady who is wonderful arranged for me to park my motorcycle on the terrace via the disability ramp so it was dry and out of the main car park. I could even keep an eye on it from my room if needed. The hotel is a little tired in places but this is more than made up for by the wonderful staff. My room and bathroom were really nice, spacious and clean. I would definitely stay here again, in fact it would be my first choice on the IOW simply because of my parking arrangements and the fantastic staff who made my stay brilliant.

Lovely reception staff. Rooms in need of modernising. Eg windows need replacing, squeaky floorboards, door not fitting properly so light comes in at night & generally need updating. They were at least clean. Great location with lift to seafront opposite. Bar too expensive to try. Breakfast okay, bit more variety required

We had a lovely time at the Ocean View. The hotel is in a great location and we will use again in the future. All of the staff were friendly and breakfast was very good. Overall, we liked it, however a couple of points that would improve this hotel are: The bar/lounge area needs some nice chairs and tables which would really enhance the bar area. The area also needs subtle lighting. AS for the patio are, benches are no good for elderly people, so I think this needs to be looked at. Just a few points which taken on board will improve the Ocean View. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will return hopefully later in the year

Shower in the room was dirty with mould present, and was very small and dark. The room wasn't too bad but needed a general spruce up and no maid service during our stay, so our towels were damp. Breakfast was only from 8.30am to 9.30am which didn't help if going to work, and we asked for dinner one night at 7.15pm and were told no, as you had to book early for the chef? Overall very disappointed particularly when paying nearly £300 for 2 nights.

We had A very happy stay over all . Problem we were not expecting ! WAS you have to require you room to be Severice Or ask for toliet rolls when u run out . Now i dont go on holiday Severice my room .This is unacceptably after All you paying a price for the Service. The Staff could not been Nicer people . Sarah /Julie and Annett /tracy . I could not fault them . Decor is lovely All Down stairs Beautiful and work still going on .👍 Room /beds were good BUT wardrobe had 1 sliding door and Wire A Balcony out side door dangers . Needs seeing too . We Had Great Views mind you I Cant complain there .. So friendly and Welcoming Hotel .

The staff were excellent, however, they are very short staffed at present. There were issues with housekeeping due to the shortages. When we did ask for asistance the staff did their very best to help. Meals have to be ordered the previous day, which meant we were unable to get dinner for the evening we arrived. We had breakfast which mostly was fresh and delicious. It is generally geared towards coach parties, rather than individual/family holiday makers There is some evening entertainment but the number of nights this is available is dictated by the coach companies as they pay for it. Overall, the hotel meets basic needs with pleasant and friendly staff. We are aware that new management took over in February and they cofirmed all the issues are being addressed and will be resolved in time.

It was a great stay, really enoyed the Hotel's freindly and professional staff. My stay was made super special by the warm welcome and greeting by FOH, receptionist Sara M. She was the icing on the cake for me. Thanks Kevin M.

The hotel is old but everything is clean, tidy and comfortable.

Hotel was in a good location. I booked six single rooms for a cycling weekend, all the rooms were comfy, the hotel bar was friendly, and the cooked breakfast for next day was excellent. I’d recommend the hotel.

The property is near to beach. The property looks astounding in photos, however, this is an old building and did not enthuse excitement. The cost does not match with quality, and very pricey. The value for money is poor. The mattress quality is very poor. The services for the room and room cleaning are virtually nonexistent. The noise from neighbouring rooms is audible and not easy to get undisturbed sleep. The most positive experience was the reception staff, friendly and welcoming. I may not recommend this property. I am sorry.

Facilities eg swimming pool no towels available even though we were told would be . The bar was ok but had to wait to be served 10 mins + at times as not always manned. They changed the time for breakfast till9am for self drive guests as coach party in and short staffed. We were there for 7nights and our room was never cleaned even though we asked at reception for our bins to be emptied a couple of times. We asked for our towels to be changed half way through the week they took the dirty towels away but never replaced them even after asking at reception 3 times so had to go out that evening without showering after been out for the day. They eventually brought 2 small towels late that evening.
