Love the hotel and have stayed before, love the rooms, noticed some cleaning issues that we alerted staff whom immediately upgraded us and we was happy
Breakfast service, server not very friendly
Would have liked some toast with our full English. Overall 8 out of 10 would go back

Always enjoyable - just love Woodstock!

We had a 3 night stay at the Bear hotel.
The hotels location is fantastic...Blenheim palace grounds are less than a 5 minute walk and the hotel also has its own car park. Itis also situated in the town square. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby.
We had a delux room (room 11). Although its front door lead onto the main car park and to be honest is not much to look at from the outside once inside it had a fantastic gallery bedroom that overlooked the lounge. It had a very comfy large bed and a separate shower cubice.
Breakfast was very tasty and catered for all food groups.
The evening menu had an adequate choice of meal. Service was friendly and polite.
I think the hotel is really good value for money and would recommend it to anyone going to visit Blenheim.

Fantastic stay at this prestigious coaching house hotel.
Everything about the stay was fantastic.
Room exceptional, friendly staff and good food.
As it's an old property parking can be an issue with limited space, however, as in middle of Woodstock, plenty of parking around at a reasonable price

Very disappointed by the restaurant in this hotel. Room prices were heavily overpriced for the weekend we stayed and it wasn’t any where near as good as we’ve experienced before. Very slow sloppy service. Mayonnaise was brought in a plastic sachet you’d expect a service station. Questioning whether we will go back again which is a shame as we’ve been going there for 30 years!

Sadly this hotel is lacking in even the basics of acceptable hospitality, Zero welcome experience, unacceptably hot, grubby and tired looking room, very uncomfortable bed that sagged badly in the middle, water and coffee not replaced when room serviced, noisy tap woke our child up if we used the bathroom, other than one friendly staff member at breakfast each morning the staff seemed as depressed as the hotel decor, Lovely location and could be special but just very poor and unacceptable in todays world and at this price, check out was just as disengaged and disinterested as the check in, this hotel left me glad to be home for a prober bed and proper shower.

I stayed here as I was working nearby. I checked in late and it was easy to park.

Outstanding Hotel, I’ve stayed on many occasions and it’s never disappointed me in the slightest. Staff always very accommodating.

Fantastic location for Blenheim Palace walking distance. Woodstock is a lovely village so many nice places to eat and drink hotel is right in the heart of everything. Plenty of parking at rear.
Nice hotel lots of original features. Staff were polite breakfast was good, beds comfortable and a good shower.

The hotel is super convenient for Blenheim and the staff are nice. The bar service is rather slow but it was busy.
Our main disappointment was the noise, we were in a room overlooking the courtyard and there were people talking in the courtyard from maybe 6am and at 7am a staff member was emptying the bottles from the bar into the recycling bin. A bit of a pain after a long day.

Arrived late, couldn’t find my booking and was shoved into a disabled room.

Nice Country Hotel

Very comfortable and clean with decor that is appropriate for the historical atmosphere of the hotel. Food excellent and staff very obliging. I deliberately wanted to walk up 2 flights of stairs but that might not suit others.

Lovely hotel right in the middle of Woodstock. The place is well appointed and a quintessential 13th Century English Hotel. Room 11 was just superb But no air conditioning (probably due to the listed status of the building) on one of the hottest days and nights of 2024. 500 yds away from Blenheim Palace gates.

Breakfast was delicious.

The hotel is very expensive so didn't feel like overall value for money. The room was cramped because there was not enough room to easily get in and out of the bed on both sides. It was also noisy with people and cars outside. Breakfast was disappointing, overcooked and barely warm when it arrived.

Really impressed with The Bear at Woodstock. It provides very high quality accommodation in a fabulous location. And the staff, especially at reception, are very friendly too.

Ideal for staying at when visiting Blenheim

Arguably the worst breakfast I’ve had at a hotel. Cheapest bread, sausages & bacon. All three tasted like cardboard. Only saving grace was the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. £4 extra for a proper coffee, £5 for avocado on toast. Not sure my filter coffee and breakfast roll justified £11 in the first place. Staff lovely, slept well. Work on your ingredients, chef can obviously cook.

Reception staff rude and slow. Everything too much trouble. Room ok. Breakfast the worst I’ve ever had at a hotel. Everything I asked for from the menu they did not have. The coffee was literally disgusting-if you want a nice coffee you have to pay £4 extra for it! A dreadful experience from start to finish. The place is tired and a bit shabby. The staff rude and unhelpful. I’d avoid this place if I were you.

Hotel was very clean & pleasant, room was clean & tidy, however info stated that room would be ready from 15:00, we were delayed by traffic & booked in at 16:25 to be told that room was not ready. We went for a drink in the bar & receptionist said she would phone when ready. As we were attending a function from 14:00-18:00 3 miles away we waited until 17:25 but room was still not ready. We had to leave luggage to take to room when we returned later that evening. The receptionist was friendly & pleasant throughout & said it was down to shortage of staff. For us breakfast ordering was very slow guests on the next table waited 40 minutes for food. Also directions to room 26 on stairs are confusing.

Enjoyed the stay and was impressed that the property was over 700 years old. The ancient graveyard next store at the church backyard was very unique. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast was great,

Perfect.

Nice hotel, great location, lovely room with very comfortable bed and very clean. Very pleasant and welcoming staff. The negatives were the extortionate price of gin and tonic in the bar and the 1 hour wait for cooked breakfast.

Charged for parking which really really annoyed me. I hate hidden charges especially when you have no forewarning. This is a premium hotel, charging premium prices. So annoyed that they decided to now drop this charge on check in after stopping with them so many times. A massive step down in my estimation of them. Grrrrr. Short sighted profiteering at its worse

Disappointing experience, overpriced, tired decor, slightly dirty and noisy if your room is next to the church.
In its heyday I’m sure this hotel was spectacular, now it’s tired, needs a refresh and revamp. Rooms musty smelling, paint peeling, grubby bathroom, even coffee machine had black mould around its edges. Food expensive and warmed up. Staff were lazy and disengaged, spent most of time chatting in hallways. Don’t buy breakfast, it’s a real waste of money, £18 pounds for an awful dried up continental or an overcooked reheated English breakfast. Go to the Woodstock coffee shop around the corner, better coffee and quality food. Wouldn’t recommend, wouldn’t go back.

Great location with free car park available. Room was comfortable and very clean.
Cosy atmosphere throughout the hotel.

Unfortunately from a once very special place is now a tired at best 3 star hotel

I had dinner included with 30£ allowance. I ordered 2 beers and they charged 19£ which really overpriced! The breakfast was real disaster. You can order just English breakfast which is included. Anything else is for extra charge. So you have no choice. The staff was unprofessional and had problem to understand English.

Absolutely luxurious stay! They thought of everything with no detail left unchecked including doggie treats, bowls, doggie bed and blanket as well as complimentary Nespresso coffee machine with coffee pods. The absolute best! And the bed? Best sleep ever!😌 Soft luxurious cotton and duvet upon duvet piled on top, felt like sleeping on clouds☺️ Room was warm, cosy, modern with a luxurious vintage theme, sparkling clean with all the expected amenities including smart TV. Large clean Bathroom room with lots of luxury towels and spa quality toiletries 🤩😍 I really could go on...I've stayed in a lot of hotels and this is BY FAR the absolute best and worth every single penny! Oh and the staff are so lovely 🤗 and accomodating to your needs. Perfect hotel and perfect stay! I can't bloody wait to go back there again 🙌

We needed to be in the area and found this hotel to be in the perfect location. It’s in a really quaint area with some nice looking shops, restaurants and cafes although we didn’t go in any. The staff were all very friendly and the room was spacious. They were really accommodating of my dog and it was nice quiet so he didn’t get spooked by noises. My only one little niggle was that there was no fridge, but the staff stored my dogs food. If I needed to be in the area again I’d stay here
