I recently stayed at the Econo Lodge, and overall, it was a satisfactory experience. The location of the hotel was convenient, with easy access to nearby restaurants and highways, making it a good choice for travelers passing through. The room was clean and comfortable, though a bit dated. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, allowing me to get a good night's rest after a long day of travel. Basic amenities like Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge, and a microwave were available, which added to the convenience of the stay. One of the standout aspects was the friendly and accommodating staff. The check in process was quick, and the front desk staff were always ready to assist with any questions or requests. They made sure I felt welcome were attentive throughout my stay. Additionally, the breakfast offerings were minimal, with just a few basic options available. Overall, the Econo Lodge is a decent budget-friendly option if you're looking for a no-frills place to stay. It offers the essentials, and the staff's hospitality helps make up for some of the minor shortcomings.

I really wish I read the reviews before coming to Gangsters paradise. The top line stating 'loitering thugs' pretty much says it all. The receptionist was behind a sheet of glass and would not allow anyone inside the front office after dark. Once I was given my room, I went to the other side of the building where I was greeted by several guys in the parking lot and on the upper balcony that I would not want to meet in a dark alley. Myself and my kids were too tired to back out, so we quickly got into our room and locked the door. Unfortunately this wasn't the end of problems. I could hear everyone footstep and noise in the room above and the rooms to the side. The room above was up till at least 3am playing music, and having loud sex. Fortunately my kids were fast asleep for this. All of this happened on a Tuesday night. Needless to say, I cancelled the rest of my nights at this place. I can't imagine what it would be like on a weekend. The place is cheap, the room is functional and appears clean, but otherwise it ain't worth staying at. You will regret it, I assure you.

enjoyed the whole experience

Very sketchy area. Room had small thin towels one small bottle of shampoo and one soap poor paint job on inside of room noise levels were high could hear people above walking all night long and frequent door slams around with someone bumping into my door. More of a rent by the hour than a rent by night

Everything was perfect

The staff is very rude . The one black lady was amazing and very respectful and personable. I asked not to be disturbed everyday and housekeeper would still knock and be rude smh . Best thing about here is the price .

I stayed at the Econolodge in Norfolk Va and it was by far the worst hotel I have stayed at. There were roaches in the room, dirty sheets and towels, shifty people hanging outside room! This was supposed to be a send off for my daughter a freshman at Norfolk State but turned out to be an horrific experience and And the sad part my husband notified front desk of roaches and how the rooms was not cleaned for 2 days and all they said was sorry and they clean every other day .We had to ask several times for clean towels and would only get 1-2 sets when it was 3 of us in a room. Horrible !

I never actually checked in , it was a stay over and the cancel my reservation and said I had to leave but never gave me my money back

They need to get the room fixed. A need to get people to clean them right. Had to go a buy bed sheets. For the beds did not have every good hot water. An wash not pet friendly

I give this a mixed bag of good and bad. First the good. The room was clean. It was free and clear of bugs. It was affordable ($70/night). It was quiet. AC worked fine. Hot water from the shower. Now the bad. 1) At check in, which was during the late stages of daylight, the lobby was locked and I was told it was because of a suspicious person walking around. I saw no suspicious person. In fact, in the 10 nights I was there, I never saw, day or night, a moment where the lobby was ever open. 2) Room items - bed was hard and towels are tiny and flimsy. They only provide 2, which given their size is not enough for 10 nights. Refrigerator leaked. 3) Communication stinks. One receptionist (female) working the afternoon of Sunday July 28th (around 5:30pm) tells me service is daily, but only if do not disturb tag is up. I ask what time it needs to be down by and she says 9 (I left at 930 Saturday and Sunday). So Monday, I am out by 830. Nothing. I speak to the guy (male) working Monday night and he said if out by 11 and every other day, and he made sure it was done Tuesday. I get out well before 11 Thursday - nothing. Second weekend I stayed in my room later so did not expect it then. 4) A plastic bag covered (and still is covering as of 8/5 when I checked out) the smoke detector (Again, room 109). That is a fire hazard. If a previous customer did it in order to smoke in a non-smoking room, house keeping should have removed it.

Terrible. They gave us a smoking room, eventhough we ordered a non-smoker… it smelled terrible and was very uncomfortable. We had to check out after one night. Not enough towels and the one we had was wet. Will never come back.

Hotels com did mess up my reservation and set it as a smoking room. I think because this place doesn't have too many non-smoking rooms. Having said that, the night person at the front desk was extremely unhelpful, went silent when I asked questions and repeated the same canned answer when I asked: "are you still there"? The neighborhood is unsafe, the motel is so sketchy I was afraid to go out of my room to get some ice because of the guys hanging out on the second floor. It's right across the street from a weird arcade/ vape shop. It all felt like something out of a movie. I paid $130 for a very bad experience, avoid!!!!!

They help with tv when service wasn’t working provided plunger when toilet was clogged up but cleanliness heck no I went out brought own cleaning supplies headboards showers cleaned around tv table counter around the toilet and bath floor was so nasty dirty stains on walls blows dirty housekeeping angry cussing family owned maybe two housekeepers they found that live on property just a mess guys walking knocking on people doors

I would never stay at this hotel again my room was nasty and dirty good thing I took my cleaning supplies

Happy that the bed was clean and the ac was working the fridge smelt terrible every time it was opened and closed the room smelt like the fridge when we checked in, the bathroom was not cleaned well. There was hair on the floor, pubic hair on the walls of the shower, and the shelf where soap is supposed to sit as well as an old soap bar stain. Towels look very worn, burn holes in our comforter. Other than that atleast we had a place to stay during our trip to chics beach
