My wife and I recently spent 5 nights at the Fairmont Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, and we enjoyed our stay. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival by the bellmen Rogerio, Jose Carlos, and Mauricio.
Our check in was very smooth with Carol, who was wonderful. She was able to get us an early check in. Additionally, she arranged an early check in for my elderly brother’s early morning arrival the next day for a half day fee. His actual check-in was with a different person, and was fairly smooth, although I was a bit disappointed by the location of the room.
The hotel is super clean, and of course, has a wonderful view of Copacabana. The facilities are upscale and probably the some of the best that we have experienced in a hotel stay during our decades traveling in Brazil. The service was good, but not outstanding, with one great exception. Edna served us at breakfast one morning and she was outstanding! We were waiting on family to arrive and they were delayed, and she brought us coffee, some breads, and juices, without us even asking, and did so with a lovely smile and elegance. Edna is an example of what unpretentious 5-star service should be about. Something was missing on the service side from most of the staff, including the concierge and other servers. My wife is Brazilian and I speak Portuguese, so it was not a language issue.
We would overall recommend the hotel, and would return, albeit with lower expectations.

This is the best hotel in Copacabana and not just because of its great amenities and view but because the service you will receive while you stay there.
I had the best time ever with my dad, they treated us in a very special way and made our stay very memorable. I will always treasure this trip in my heart and will be for ever thankful with the Fairmont team for the great service. Dont hesitate to stay here any other hotel wont be as luxury or special as Fairmont is

My wife stayed at this hotel, and she is very unsatisfied with this property. She has yet to hear back from the manager for any of these following issues she raised.
1. There are numerous hair everywhere in this hotel and also on food. Very disgusting!! Be careful of the food you eat including bread and scrambled eggs!!
2. The phone and power outlets is broken in her room, no power at all, nobody responded to her messages on WhatsApp
3. Check in was supposed to be at 3:00 pm, but she waited for another half hour because front desk had forgotten to notify her room was ready

This hotel was top notch all the way. The view from our room and from the pool was incredible, overlooking all of Copacabana Beach. The location was excellent. The rooms were a nice size. The pool vibe was awesome. Loved every minute!!

The Fairmont is exactly what you need when on a luxury vacation in Rio. Two beautiful pools, a restaurant, spa, gym, and the most amazing hotel staff. I couldn’t have asked for more during my stay. Everyone made me feel welcomed and at home! Marcio, Davidson, Renata, Maria Luisa are the names that I can remember of some of the incredible staff. I look forward to coming back.

The room is pretty clean. It has nice new bathroom and bed is super comfy.
The breakfast is ok, could be better. The buffet is a little pricey, and not a lot of options at buffet.

The location is fabulous, the place was virtually empty on arrival Monday morning, I was not offered an upgrade however despite my status as a gold member with Expedia, as more guests arrived during the week the attentiveness of the staff was not what it was when quiet.

Great pool area and magnificent views. I thought the price for breakfast was expensive especially just for fruit and coffee. The rooms were functional and the WiFi worked well. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was mediocre for the Fairmont brand. Room service was quick but communication between phone and server lacked. Checkin was a nightmare.

I had an issue with hot water. I had to call the front desk at 3 am one night for a repair. After that, I had to leave the water on in the shower for several minutes to get the water to warm up. Also, the employee for the restaurant and pool area with the "she's the boss" tattoo on her neck area was terrible. Did not make any effort to find me a table at their restaurant even though I was a guest. I should not have to make a reservation if I am staying at the hotel. Finally, I was given no VIP access by this hotel. They did not even offer.

The hotel is overall amazing, location and property itself is excellent. The only downside is that they did not recognize the VIP membership benefits of Expedia, which I’m not sure if it’s hotel’s fault.
