House of Surf in Varkala is an absolute find! The dorms, spacious and clean, offered a premium atmosphere, perfect for an extended getaway with no disturbances. The surf lessons were thrilling. Coupled with the mouthwatering dishes at the sea view cafe- made every moment memorable. Exploring nearby waterfalls and witnessing bioluminescence after the monsoon added an adventurous twist to my Varkala trip. The lively pool parties and the vibrant cafe ambiance made me many local friends. Already planning my return for the next surfing season! Add -On:- You can’t ask for more when we have a pool at a hostel property and top view deck which js a visual treat.

Going to Varkala on a solo trip to learn surfing was decidedly the best decision I made in 2023 and choosing House of Surf was the cherry on top! What fun I had there!! Staying at a women’s hostel was such a delightful experience. Meeting all these amazing women from different countries and cultures and sharing stories and connecting, I even made some good friends! And the surfing lessons were great. They have the best trainers, who were super patient and encouraging. Being a novice, that meant a great deal to me. While we were not surfing, we went out and lazed in the beaches, cycled around town and even found our way to a beautiful waterfall! The Seaview cafe was the best place to chill and catch the sunset. Special mention to Janani, their visiting yoga instructor who was such a ball of positive energy. Doing yoga on the sea side deck is an experience I will cherish. Coming to the stay, the dorms were clean and spacious unlike some of the other hostels I have stayed at. The laundrette area and the balcony lounge were stunning. It’s evident that they have put a lot of heart and thought into creating this beautiful space. So girls if you are heading to Varkala, be sure to check em out!

The House Of Surf is hands down THE best ladies hostel I have been to! And I have stayed in different hostels around Varkala. The rooms are impeccably maintained, with great air conditioning, and I was glad that they had lockers for keeping my documents & money safe. Bathroom cleanliness is something I look for when I travel and they have it maintained well & clean! The smell of lemongrass is something that I loved about this place. It gets you into that relaxed & calming holiday vibes you went looking for! There were also lot of spaces to chill and relax. The welcome hamper had everything you need for a clean & comfortable stay -a bamboo brush, shampoo, conditioner, two towels, slippers and keys! I love the fact that its has a huge private pool, a sea view cafe upstairs that serves delicious fusion food and they also included a map of offbeat Varkala for slow travel lovers! And the fact that it is run entirely by women, and has overnight security. Swati was such a sweetheart, she gave info on the best party spots nearby, and hooked us up for cooking class workshops as well. They have some great surf packages for all kinds of surfers too! This place is really gone into my favorite list!! Best part - beach is like 200 mts away and was less crowded than the Cliff beach! I am definitely coming back soon. Its a cool place to work from too and I can picture it!
