Such an amazing place with lovely staff. It’s like stepping back in time. If you’re looking for pure luxury then maybe it’s not ideal but if you want a lovely genuinely beautiful place with a slow pace of life and the most amazing scenery, this is it. We missed the restaurant sadly but there are plenty to choose from, even though the place is really quite small. The shops are superb with local goods. Just amazing. Thank you!

If you’re looking for pure luxury then maybe it’s not ideal but if you want a lovely genuinely beautiful place with a slow pace of life and the most amazing scenery, this is it. We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The receptionist (Anna) was very helpful and knowledgeable giving us some great tips and benefit of her local knowledge.
Our room was very comfortable and clean, the swimming pool area was lovely with fantastic views. Free on street parking is available outside the hotel.
From the hotel you can walk into town, but be aware if you are walking impaired or need a wheelchair then there are some rough cobbled streets and some steep inclines into the town of Monsaraz which could be challenging.
The breakfast at the hotel was also very nice. We will be returning to this hotel.

Wonderful stay, beautiful location. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was nice and spacious.
The only thing that was missing was a kettle and complementary coffee or tea.
Overall we had an amazing experience and we recommend the Estalajem de Monsaraz .

I hate to downrate businesses, but am afraid that I need to with this hotel. Monsaraz is a pretty little town and a very pleasant place to spend a relaxing day or two. Estalagem de Monsaraz nearly works, but the details made it the least pleasant hotel of our two weeks in Portugal. Upon arrive it was clear that the reception person was ill. She was doing her best, but clearly she didn't feel well. We got our key and went to the room. It was a (slightly) higher price room as it had a view. Nothing really wrong with the room other than it was in a very old building and was physically a bit difficult with a tiny bathroom that had stairs both down and up to it. The real problem was that it STUNK.....clearly a bad sewer problem that had been addressed in the past by putting a fan in the bathroom that was always on. It didn't work. No matter how nice a place is....the stench of sewage takes the pleasure out of it. It was okay as far as cleanliness, the public rooms are small but pretty. The breakfast was okay.

We had the most amazing weekend at this establishment. The breakfast was good, the room was lovely. The only complaint is that the shower curtain should be replaced by glass. The gardens were beautiful. The evenings were spent watching the skies for a star show. Will definitely be back.

An amazing hotel nestled in the gorgeous area of Monsaraz. Best beds in all of Portugal! Rooms are thoughtfully outfitted, great bathroom, a fridge, and lovely views!

Amazing ancient property (stone walls 30 cm thick) built into the hillside rock and retrofitted into a hotel with an awesome garden and view over the valley below.

Nice property with excellent staff. Great views from some of the rooms. Good breakfast. The property could need some maintenance ( stains on the ceiling from leakage, not closing doors). Overall very nice because of location and staff quality.

Charming hotel in a gorgeous and quiet environment. Second time me and my girlfriend went here. Monsaraz is a very quiet village. Don’t expect to easily find a bar or a restaurant. Places are often closed outside of their usual schedule and with no particular reason. In such context and for the value of the hotel, it would be appreciated if they could provide at least some fresh beers and a little snack like olives (which is not complicated to find in this region). Unfortunately they were not able to provide us those things. It’s a shame because those little details make a huge difference. Breakfast could be much better too
