Old Hickory is a residential area situated on the Cumberland River. In the past, it used to be the site of a DuPont gunpowder plant dating back to the 1900s and the neighborhood grew around the factory. Nowadays, the area features amenities such as the Old Hickory Country Club, sandy Old Hickory Beach, soul food and sports bar restaurants. Additionally, during the spring until fall season, visitors can enjoy shopping at the weekly Old Hickory Village Farmers Market.
