Position on mountain slopes tucked into forest allowing great far away views from restaurant and pool over valley and Sta marta. Smallish pool but comfortable with fantastic view over nature.
Receptionist not very welcoming! They say the road access difficulty is well highlighted on Guide du Routard ... but we saw NO INFO on Booking.com
Acces by sedan car quite difficult via the upper road that appears (as the only way!) on GPS Google Maps. USE THE LOWER one, via La Vittoria! It is only sign posted as Casa Viejas (not Masaya) but it is the right way. Higher up GPS way was really frightning!😂🤬🤭🫣😥

I just loved this hostel. It was by far the best hostel we’ve stayed in South America on our 3 month trip. The room was amazing and felt like a luxurious hotel (we were in the private bedroom with a balcony). We have started to dread the free hostel breakfasts on our trip but this one was amazing as it wasn’t buffet style, we could order off the menu. The food and drinks prices were really reasonable considering you couldn’t buy your food from anywhere else! I would highly recommend adding this hostel to your Columbia itinerary.
My only negative was the food wasn’t always hot. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and the potatoes and rice were cold. The potatoes were often cold which was disappointing.

We stayed in the superior double. Lovely room with sweeping views over the jungle. Was nicer than the pictures. It was a delightful stay. Food was really good.
You have to book a fairly expensive taxi to and from Minca in a jeep - and there’s only one option.

Everything! The pool, the staff, the view, the location. I loved falling asleep to the sounds of the forest every night and the sunsets were nothing short of spectacular every night. The food was great, and the tours made it so easy to explore the local area. I had food poisoning from my previous hostel and they even made me a tea to help my stomach settle. I was so sad to leave. I could spend hours staring at the view. Will definitely be back!
Nothing. Although bear in mind the toilets for dorms are a little far from some of them, so if you’re someone who needs to use the toilet in the night make sure you keep a torch with you. The massage also wasn’t the best, not bad but not amazing. But having it in nature was lovely!

Staff from the bar and restaurant were very friendly and lovely.
The drivers are terrible and take every penny they can. We had transportation booked at 10 but there was another couple going to the airport at 9. So I went to the front desk to change our transportation and this was okay for them. The morning we left, we shared the 4x4 with another couple. They had to go to the airport and we to minca. But the driver has to drive through Minca anyway so it seemed like a good idea to share the transport. But apparently the receptionist at the time forgot to remove our former transport reservation from 10am. They tried to blame us (?!). Then the driver got in the car and said we had to pay 100,000 extra. But he HAD TO drive through Minca. It's not like he had to drop us off at a different route. As they say in latin america: son unos picaros y son unos sinvergüenzas (!!!). For riding the same route he asked 280.000. Dont come here. There are better places. Excursions are very expensive. Birdwatching is 120.000. In other places its 70.000. Save your money.

This gorgeous hostel is a half hour bumby dirt track ride above Minca, high in the green mountains. The views are tremendous. Very good bird life all around. The facilities are excellent: a lovely infinity pool, restaurant and bar area, and dorms and rooms tucked away from these. We had a superior room no 4 on the far corner of the building built on the steep slope. Fabulous dual aspect windows and a big balcony with two chair hammocks. A very spacious bedroom, big dual shower room too. It was very peaceful sat on the balcony here away from the hubbub around the pool. The food is lovely and good value. The staff are friendly and polite. A lovely getaway for a few days.
There are activities at additional cost, a waterfall walk and yoga etc. There is also a birdwatching walk at what we thought was a too expensive cost. Otherwise you can walk up and down the mountain on several hikes but it is tough going. To come here you should be prepared to just chill out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Mooie proper zwembad
Lekkere (veggie) gerechtjes
Ruime kamers

everything about this place is awesome, the remote location, the food, the jungle experience! clean dorms and friendly staff
saying online you have laundry service and then not actually having it is not acceptable, especially in such a remote place where you can’t just find a launderette next door

I never provide reviews but our stay last week at Masaya Casas Viejas makes me want to give feedback. The remote location is spectacular, the views amazing, the facilities great. The food - breakfast, lunch and dinner was wonderful. But what made the stay so special is the 'vibe' that exists here - from the smile and positive energy of all the staff, to that of the other guests that comes together in an expression of how fortunate we all are to be able to spend a few days in paradise birdwatching, hiking to spectacular waterfalls and pools, hanging out at the pool, or eating great food and cocktails, In a word, it was a magical experience.
No where did I read that after passing the town of Minca on a perfectly good but windy road, that Masaya Casas Viejas was a good bit off the main road on an unpaved path. We rented a small Suzuki and the last bit from Victoria Brewing to the hostel really is better done in a 4x4. All the other guests apparently did read the fine print, and booked motorcycles or 4x4 to take them to the hostel from the center of Minca. It can be done, very very slowly in a regular car as long as the road is fairly dry. For us, getting there was part of the adventure.

This hostel is truly lovely, with incredible views overlooking Minca's valley.
Our room was spacious and had a delightful terrace complete with a hammock.
The food was delicious and the service was kind and attentive.
The shining star of this hostel has to be the stunning Amazon views from the bar to the swimming pool and valley. Enjoying the sunset during the happy hour is just priceless.

Best hostel so far in Columbia. Great food, good atmosphere and cool location with a nice view. We liked the waterfall tour!
It’s a 30min drive from Minca and you pay 100.000 for a 4x4 jeep to take you up/down (25.000 for a motor taxi) which is quite expensive if you want to do tours on your own.
2.5
The hostel has great potential, our room was lovely, the breakfast is nice and the pool is lovely.
The downside, there’s not enough beds for everyone staying at the hostel at the pool so it’s a scramble for beds. There’s no option for dinner it’s just whenever is on that night. The bar doesn’t open until 5. Staff and service was very poor. I booked a massage twice and planned my day around it only to go to reception each time and be told 5 minutes before that it’s cancelled and they need to reschedule. Why someone could not have came and told me this when I was 10 meters away previously I don’t know. Customer service at this hostel was so poor and there was little common sense used.

Really great rooms and facilities, infinity pool is a great spot to relax. All food on the menu is amazing and communal dinner is a nice idea.
It is outside town so need a motor taxi however worth it for the location/views

none - it was perfect!

Honestly, this is like being 'stuck' up a mountain in absolute paradise, with only delicious food available all day long. It's a hard life... I say 'stuck' because it's a mototaxi ride up the rainforest-laden mountains up from the main 'Minca town' (which is fine to visit, but I didn't feel I missed out on anything by not staying 'down' there as it's so tiny and the attractions are all up in the mountains anyway!). Just total bliss. Do hike up 20 mins to the 'sunset spot' from the hostel - it's steep but worth it. That infinity pool and mountain views! Hummingbirds everywhere, banana trees.... I've shown photos to people and they're totally amazed. Yes, the mototaxi up to the property is bumpy - enjoy it! I recommend a trip to Marinka waterfalls and the coffee farm which is walk-able from the property (and you can get a mototaxi back, or indeed both ways if you prefer, if you're feeling lazier) is wonderful - I really enjoyed the tour there and was so impressed with the simplicity and sustainability of the processes they use. The food is great (even for discerning vegans like me!), the bar really brings people together in the evenings, as does the pool and the restaurant throughout the day. Highly, highly recommended - don't hesitate.
Nothing.
