I’ve stayed at the property at least twice a year for over 10 years as I have family in the area. Location is perfect for me. Amenities such as fitness center, breakfast, and pool are a plus.
On Thursday morning June 20th the water was shut off. I was in the fitness center and when I returned to my room to shower I had the unpleasant surprise of no water. I resorted to using the water in the toilet to sponge bathe. I had to leave to pick up my wife at the airport and then we were scheduled to take my Mom out to dinner. She lives at the former Marriott on Paseo de Valencia which is a retirement home. On my way out I stopped by the front desk to ask for the manager. He was not in so I expressed my disappointment about the water and asked her to have the manager call me. My cell phone number was on file. The manager did not call me. Later when I returned the manager was in. I explained the situation and wanted to know why the water shut-off was not announced. He said he called my room shortly before it was shut off. I was only in the fitness center for an hour. Why did the not notify by cell phone. A text would have worked. He apologized but with the caveat it was due to me not being available. So I enjoyed the day with a toilet water sponge bath.

The hotel was great! Very good breakfast, clean bedrooms, nice staff, good location.
The beds were small, I have never seen a hotel with beds like that. They were supposed to be for two people, but it was pretty tight. That was the only downside.

My wife and I stayed for 6 days, and had a wonderful stay there. We had a couple little issues, but the way the staff took care of us (Especially Brianna, Jennifer and Albert) was just AMAZING. They were quick to resolve problems and always cheerful when interacting with us, even when they were swamped with guests!

We were going to the Sawdust Festival and Festival of the Arts in Laguna Beach. Hotels in these areas were too expensive. This was also a great location to visit my mom's memorial at the UCI Memorial Monument. For an overnight stay, it was a nice place. Good selections for breakfast. That is important whenever I am booking a hotel...it has to have breakfast included.
The bathroom was kind of small and the door was in a weird location.

Modern hotel in convenient location. Ample breakfast with many hot and cold choices.
Hum of traffic noise (hotel is on a hill overlooking the I5). We asked for a quiet room but received one that directly overlooked the freeway off-ramp. The room window was double-paned but not sound proofed. Not a big issue for us as we were only in the hotel at night and the hum of the a/c provided white noise. But be aware if you're a light sleeper.
Friendly staff but hotel seemed to be cutting corners on service given its price point. For example, our room was not serviced for 2 of the days for no known reason and there was no one to wipe off the breakfast table between diners.

it was in the right spot for what I needed and everyone that works here goes out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. for people traveling for pleasure you can get to the beach in about 10 minutes probably by car so that’s nice.
there really weren’t any problems. It’s just right at the freeway. but it’s a good price so I didn’t expect it to have an ocean view.

The hot breakfast was good.
The hot tub was hot, which is excellent.
The beds were comfortable.

The staff were polite.
The bathroom had no separate fan, which increased the humidity of the room to unacceptable levels.
The AC would not go below 72 degrees F even though it was 66 degrees outside. This meant that no AC was available at all. I asked at the front desk about the AC, but they didn't know (and the person who does know is only there in the afternoons).
The room was too hot and muggy to sit in! My wife refuses to go back.

clean, comfortable, we got everything we need in the room, coffee maker, safe, hair drier, fridge and access to hot and cold water downstairs and vending machine.
bedsheet and mattress is comfy. breakfast is also delicious , great and many choices.

breakfast seems to be contracted out. Coffee is stale, coffee containers at the lobby were cold if any is left
Staff at check in are not well versed in rudiments of hotel management. We wanted to rebook after a Las Vegas trip. I was told that booking had to be made online. Housekeeping is irregular, in 5 nights we only had one housekeeping update. We even ran out of toilet paper and had to ask for additional towels. We stayed overnight at Fairfield Inn in Buffalo, there is a wide gap in services, even the physical structure between two locations, the Mission Viejo seems second rate. I got charged twice for using the washing machine, I understand it is contracted out, now I have to request my bank to reverse charges for such services such as washing machines

It is located in a quiet are and there are two service station shops right outside of the hotel. The breakfast is alright, they could offer more fruits but overall is good.
We arrived and the smell on the hallway was impossible. The room had a similar funk smell, the carpet was very dirty and after our first night we noticed huge red spots on our limbs. We politely asked the front desk staff if there was something they could do and he just said he was going to send somebody to check. The maintenance person was very nice and took care of everything. We ended up switching rooms (all through the maintenance personnel, since the front staff never came to talk to us) and the room was still bad but at least no mites. Also there’s garbage on the hallway left by people staying in the hotel.
Overall it was a really bad experience considering the The price and the fact that it is supposed to be part of Marriott. It is a very old building, the cleaning staff is not enough and the did not clean the room or change the linens for two days, the front desk staff seems to be very young, inexperienced and unable/unwilling to help.

we were t told when we arrived that housekeeping would t come during our stay. we ended up having to take wet towels down the desk ourselves and get clean ones. also has to go find toilet paper when we ran out.
