We stayed here as a group of 4 adults and 2 children and found the villa absolutely perfect. There was plenty of room allowing everyone to have their own space and the communal areas were large and bright. The pool was fantastic, lovely and warm and the fence a real bonus. We walked to the local playground in the forest with the children and took trips into town and to the beach. Off season the beach is less then a 5 mins drive away which was perfect with a 1 and 3 years old and had plenty of parking however would be a very short cycle ride away when parking was at a premium in peak times. We walked to the local bakery every day. Peter was a very helpful host with great and timely communications and helpful recommendations. We were all very impressed and would return if coming back to this area of France.

There was plenty of space in the villa for five adults and a toddler. The pool was brilliant - warm and safe. We made very good use of the bikes; cycling to the local boulangerie, the beach and exploring the variety of ways into La Tranche. Our granddaughter loved going in the bike trailer. The Vendee coast was as magnificent as we remembered and watching the surfers at La Terriere was good entertainment.

The location of the house couldn't be better, so close to stunning safe beaches, cycle paths, playgrounds etc. The house itself is tired and it felt like it needed a thorough clean. Little things could have improved the first impressions; we had to unload a full dishwasher when we arrived as the previous occupants dishes were in there, most of the kids DVD boxes we opened were empty, there were virtually empty loo rolls left in the two loos rather than just one new roll in each etc. The other facilities however were great for our needs (7 adults and 4 young children), with 2 highchairs, 2 cots, plenty of crockery and glasses, plastic plates for kids etc. The heated pool was amazing and really made the holiday for us, the kids stayed in there for hours and the safety fence meant they could play in the sandpit without us worrying. The pool towels provided were also brilliant as was the washing/drying room. The bikes were great, again some weren't in great condition, and the kids trailer is on it's last legs but they were absolutely fine for the short journeys we were doing. The kids loved going out on the bikes and it made the holiday that we were able to use them at no extra cost or hassle of hiring them. The outside area and garden is quite overgrown and looks a bit neglected. The kids really enjoyed the sandpit but we didn't sit out in the garden in the evening as it was quite overgrown and it's a shame the hedges are so high. Overall we had a really great week. The house was fine for our needs, the pool and bikes were brilliant and we will definitely be returning to the area.

Fantastic property in a great location. Our kids (6 and 5) absolutely loved the pool, and the perimeter fence around the pool added peace of mind when the kids were not in the water, knowing they could play freely around the property without any fear of them falling into the pool. The shops and restaurants of La Tranche are a 10 minute cycle ride away, and La Terriere beach is even closer (perhaps the most stunning beach I have experienced on the west coast of Europe). Getting around is a breeze given the dedicated cycle-ways and footpaths. A very enjoyable stay and somewhere I would return without hesitation.

Very comfortable, and deceptively spacious house. Good sized pool, and outdoor table tennis table [well used by the Thomas family!], with decking area seating 12 comfortably next to a brick built BBQ. We had a lovely week, we particularly enjoyed the good array of bicycles in the garage around the safe cycle paths of La Tranche. Thoroughly recommended for a family holiday.

This is a fine modern house with excellent equipment. We found the house to be clean and well prepared and the heated swimming pool clean and ready for use too - which was great. There were 11 of us, 4 very young children. The house is in a quiet location, an easy cycle ride to the beach but a longer walk - shops are a little distant and the local supermarket is almost unusable after 9am - packed to the hilt, although with good quality produce. The little town of Tranche-sur-mer is pleasant and has decent shops. This is an ideal situation for those with a desire to cycle or walk - the beaches are superb if you like to surf or body board, less good for the serious swimmer. Serious cyclists might want to bring their own bikes - there are bikes available but they are really only for casual use. Communications with the owner were excellent and we'd certainly recommend the house. There is not a lot of historical interest locally, but La Rochelle, about an hour away, is full of museums and attractions.

We stayed with extended family and the house was great for everyone including two babies. It was well equipped and very clean. The pool was a great bonus and very safe with secure fencing. The pool area is more secluded than the picture shows with mature hedging. Good, quiet location with easy walk or cycle to beach and local bakery in the village. All communications with owner were excellent and we received good directions and instructions. Overall exceeded our expectations, we had a great week.

My friends and I stayed here at the end of September. I imagine that it is a great place for families, like many other reviewers have said. However, we are a group of 8 guys and girls all 26-29 yr olds. Don't get me wrong La Tranche is certainly no Malia (yuk)! But it is a brilliant place to chill out, relax and enjoy the surf. We are all keen surfers and have stayed at a few different rentals all along the Bay of Biscay. Le Pavot was definitely the best. The rooms are all of a good size, the garage is fully equipped with bikes, there is a heated swimming pool, table tennis and an outdoor BBQ! We all have own surf gear, although it is worth noting that there are loads of places to hire from (one of which you will get a discount from if you talk to the owner of Le Pavot) as long as you arrive in peak season. The DVD and book collections are one of the biggest I have seen, and there are loads of EU to UK plug bars dotted around the house. La Terriere is a pretty small village, with only really a boulangerie and a small bar. The foremost of which is definitely worth cycling down to in the morning. There is also quite a large super market about 5 minutes drive away, along with town of La Trance Sur Mer. Which has loads of restaurants, plus all of the usual tourist amenities like English speaking Office de Tourisme, shops, crazy golf, etc. The booking was simple. All questions were answered within 24 hrs. Most in under an hour. In the past we have always wanted to try different places to stay in France. However, I think Le Pavot may well be the first place that we revisit. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

We have just spent a fabulous holiday at Le Pavot. The villa sleeps 10 comfortably - we were two families with 6 children (ranging from 3 years – 13 years) between us and the villa catered for everyone's needs and more importantly, there was plenty of room for everyone! The house is very well equipped and has a beautiful heated swimming pool and bikes for everyone. It also has a great book & DVD library which our children loved. The house was lovely and clean when we arrived and the owner couldn't have been more helpful. Le Pavot is located in a quieter area of La Tranche Sur Mer and it is very safe location for the children to explore in. The pool and the garden are fenced off and our children loved playing table tennis. Everything you could ever need is within a walk or a cycle away. The beach and forest were a huge hit once we managed to persuade the children away from the pool. La Tranche Sur Mer is a lovely location with plenty of restaurants and shops catering for everyone. Perfect house in a perfect location and would highly recommend to families of all ages.

We spent a week at Le Pavot with 2 young children (5 & 8) . It was perfect for all our needs, with a beautiful heated swimming pool and bikes..also a great book & DVD library! Tranche sur Mer was a perfect base for many activities including local park, beaches, hiking trail and forest to explore. The zoo at Sable D'Olonne was a hit, as well as nearby Ile de Re & La Rochelle. There is also an activity park nearby- The Indian Forest - with zip wiring throught the tree tops, horse riding and lots of activities to keep the kids entertained. The kids enjoyed the short cycle to the local bakery every morning for an array of freshly baked goods. The local Super U was excellent for everything else. The villa would suit 2 -3 families as there is so much space, but as a family of 4 we could spread out! Would highly recommend to families of all ages.

This was our first visit to LaPavot and hopefully it will not be our last. Directions to villa were good and straightforward. Booking was easy and any queries were answered immediately. There were 7 family adults in our party and no children - all rooms fitted out with everything that you would need in fact it was home from home. Everything was clean and in good working order. Short walk to beach, short walk to get bread each day and only a short drive to supermarket. Unable to think of a negative.

I have visited this villa 3 times and have booked again for 2012. My children love the pool and the bikes provided as do my elderly parents. It has all the comforts of home plus a lovely , safe , heated pool and a wonderful climate. The owner is very helpful and the position is great for the beach. Altogether a lovely place for a relaxing holiday. Pool all day, barbecue in the evening.

We visited this villa in April and found a really nice accommodation plus very good swimming pool that was heated just to the right temperature. The beach is very close just 15-20 minutes walk through a beautiful forest. The village centre is 10 minutes cycling away and the road is lit all the way so it is not a problem to cycle on the way back after a dinner out. Basically this was one of the best holidays we’ve had – ticked all the boxes! I would recommend to anyone – especially if you like cycling or walking!!!
