One of the very best places we've stayed. It's a beautiful, functional, peaceful house. We loved it.

Got to be the most stunning Villa I have ever stayed in , views are even better when there couldn’t stop looking! Comfy bed and nice shower, perfect for a little getaway from it all. Couple of things to know before going though, don’t leave anything on the side ants will find it and get in so make sure everything in the fridge! But once you know this there’s no problem with them 🙃 also don’t leave you bin bags outside as there’s a fox that will tear them up for you to clean in the morning. Wish we knew this before going but nevertheless would highly recommend to anyone! Thanks for an amazing stay!

Initially booked pre- pandemic and moved twice, our stay at La Bolina was definitely worth the wait. The accommodation was spotless and beautifully furnished, and had everything we needed for a short stay. The relaxing, peaceful environment and the perfect weather made for a very memorable break…. We shall definitely return.

my wife and I arrived very late in the evening having travelled from Northern Ireland and this wasn't a problem thanks to the lovely hosts. It would have been difficult to locate in the dark if it wasn't for the very helpful photographic arrival instructions. The week was incredible with such a breathtaking view every day we hardly wanted to leave!! When we did make a special effort to go out there were excellent activities nearby, lots of hiking (I recommend the rio chillar) and snorkeling not even mentioning the festival over in nearby village Frigiliana ( we had an excellent view of the fireworks from the pool!). All in all a fantastic stay, thank you so much Rob and Maggie. We will be back!

We really enjoyed our stay. The house and the property are super nice. It's quiet and the views are great. All in all it was a great stay and we totally recommend this place!

We enjoyed our stay at La Bolina very much. The place is very kind and a has a good energy. The house is built and furnished with the signature of artists: individual and authentic. If you are looking for rest and a spectacular view we can recommend it 100 percent. Thanks to Timsam, who send us detailled information so that we managed to find the place easily. And thank you Maggie and Rob that we could take our dog with us. In Dec and Jan it might get cold in the night, so you better use the chimney and fire available olive wood, that gives a comfortable warmth and light in front of the fire place. We enjoyed the unique character of the entire place including the location, the home itself and the wonderful view. Just getting to the place on the narrow, steep winding road is memorable. The owner provided good directions. Then the view is spectacular. Sitting out watching nature at different times of the day including the farmers on the hills nearby was interesting. The pool was great and relaxing to be in and sit near soaking in the surroundings. We would recommend this to those desiring to get out of town a bit, have privacy and see the real countryside of Spain.

Getting to La Bolina requires negotiating steep uneven roads but we managed it in a Fiat 500. All you need is some confidence and common sense. Once you arrive you’ll find one of the most beautiful settings for two people. The house is a work of art, nicely designed and has everything you need. The grounds are divided into lots of different spaces that suit different moods and times of the day. The pool is big enough to swim a few strokes but to lie in it and gaze at the mountain views is just stunning. The mountain view changes by the hour and constantly captivates. The house and grounds are a work of art with lots of Rob and Maggies creations on show. There is another cottage backing onto Bolina, but the design is such that you’d never know. We felt totally private. But if you need anything our hosts house is just down the slope. There are lots of wonderful towns and villages to visit within a hours drive We tended to eat out in the day and stick to the villa at night. All in all, one of our best holidays. The food in the villages is amazing. We can’t wait to come back.

Second Time in La Bolina, again a wonderful experience!

A wonderful house in Andalusia with the biggest plus being the garden with pool and the breathtaking views on both mountains as well as the see. The house is well equipped with everything you may need for a wonderful stay. The location of the house is central: the beach in Nerja is closeby, as well as the beautiful small village of Frigiliana. You do need a car to get to the house and see something of the area.

Absolutely ideal honeymoon location and accommodation - Rob and Maggie have put so much love and attention to detail into La Bolina that you feel it - our stay was an experience, not just because of the gorgeous location which literally took our breath away as soon as we stepped out of the car but every day and night we spent there, but because the home, not house, is filled with delights you notice as you relax There's every item you need and more for getting away from it all without missing out on anything - the Internet works perfectly, the small kitchen is well equipped, the air con was essential in the high temperatures - any quirky 'issues' are dealt with immediately by Rob and Maggie, for example the DVD player had stopped working before we got there and they told us they would bring one up - before evening they were there with a brand new system A typical day would be waking to the view from the bedroom of sunrise over the mountain, the sound of the cicadas chirping,sitting under the shaded pergola draped in vines, taking in the amazing views (pictures cannot do it justice) - we could see the mountains, valleys, village of Frigiliana and sea from a vantage point that felt like a cliff edge, the sloping garden giving panoramic scope while sculptures and rocks edge and yet blend your view - the internet and quality tv/dvd/sound system was lovely to use while it was very hot outside - evenings we could cook a meal and eat outside either in the kitchen or on the brick built bbq, sketch the view and sunbathe safely and privately while talking shade again under the pergola - late evening the pool would have been heated by the hot sun so we would often swim by moonlight - it couldn't be more romantic for two people away from busy lives to just enjoy each others company while feeling looked after in every way Rob also helped us get to the villa - it's hard to find but even harder to leave we will definitely return to this beloved spot one day - thank you for everything

Peaceful, relaxing with enjoyable outings to Nerja and Frigiliana . Excellent food and welcoming atmosphere wherever we went. Villa is perfect to unwind and watch the sun as it moves over the mountain landscapes.

We had a lovely week stay at the end of June 2017. Plenty of peaceful time eating, reading, swimming and unwinding in this lovely mountain escape. The views are very special - mountains, sea and far off villages amid a bright blue sky. The infinity pool is small but enough to swim lengths many times during the day to freshen up from the Spanish heat. Rob and Maggie have build a very unique house with artwork both inside and around the garden - the latter included a sweet scented jasmine rambling over a seated area where we spent much of our time. We are already thinking about a 2nd visit in 2018!

We stayed last summer and chose to return in spring so that we could enjoy some hill walking in the region without melting. La Bolina was as enchanting as we remembered. The gardens were full of spring meadow flowers and are the perfect place to relax and "do nothing". The pool is only for the fanatic at this time of year, but I did dip my toes in to check! Rob and Maggie are lovely hosts and the descriptions on the website accurate. This place is rustic, charming and out of the way - just perfect for us x

La Bolina is hidden away in the hills overlooking Frigiliana. This stunning location is a joy to behold as the light changes through the day. An ideal get away from it all, the house and pool are just perfect and romantic. The two weeks we spent there were wonderful and we are sure to return. The Visitors’ Book is peppered with messages from regulars, who obviously feel the same about the place. Being set up on high ground there is an occasional breeze, even in the heat of July which was very welcome. The house has everything you need, living up to what we had read when booking. The artwork and sculptures add personality to the house and garden, giving them a unique and quirky feel. There is another cottage attached to La Bolina, but being owned by Rob & Maggie they have designed the two to be private with the gardens fully separate and discretely screened – We hadn’t expected this but didn’t even know we had neighbours. If you have any questions before your stay, Rob is very prompt replying and very helpful throughout, should you need anything.

Our stay at La Bolina was wonderful... starting with a very warm welcome from our hosts Rob & Maggie. A perfect hideaway with everything you need to escape from it all, but not too far from essentials (markets etc.). The house is elegant and unique, and feels very special with the personal art/sculpture works. The pool is fantastic...! We made the most of being able to spend long days relaxing in isolation, with visits to the local hill towns and countryside, with Ronda a worthwhile day out. Our thanks to Rob & Maggie, and we hope to be back very soon!

The striking images on HomeAway's website drew us towards this property. The worry was that reality just couldn't live up to them. But it did. Every inch of the house and surroundings are beautifully sculpted and decorated by the owner's themselves, and yet they've managed to make it feel wild and natural. This is a designers or boutique property. The view, with the striking silhouette of the Sierra de Tejadas on one side, the village of Frigiliana nesting beneath them, and then the ocean beyond Nerja is simply breathtaking. This property offers a unique experience, it delivers everything promised in the description (and more), it is clean, and well maintained. We are urging all our friends to go, not the least because we can promise a friendly and accommodating reception by the owners (e.g. since we arrived after midnight, they offered to stock the fridge up with groceries so we wouldn't go hungry in the morning).

It has been an amazing experience to enjoy the beauties of La Bolina. The house is so charming and comfortable, decorated so tastefully with artesian furniture and light full paintings .......!!!!!! The outside is a landscape of never ending views all way round from the Sea and coast cliffs to the Mountains of Sierra Tejeda Almijara National Park where we have enjoyed incredible walks; different areas all over the gardens making the stay a travel through different countries: Africa, with Stone bricks and the dryness of the macadamia nut tree where a BBQ at night can transfer you to the shiny stars ... The Mediterranean pergola dressed up with the jasmine and wine "parra" shading comfortably our lunches and our siestas and endless Oceanian dawns by the infinity pool overlooking the valleys of Frigiliana, Torrox and Nerja heading our eyes off to the Mediterranean blue see. It would be impossible to describe the enchanting atmosphere which La Bolina can enfold you in; it is an incredible journey to calmness, relaxation and "pura vida" surrounded by the sculptures and paintings of Richard and Maggie whom deserve our affection and admiration for giving us the privilege of filling our summer with such paradisiac and blisfull moments. We stayed at 'la Bolina' for 4 nights after arriving in Madrid, a couple of days before. It was such a pleasant change of pace. The views were stunning, the accommodations were perfect and the entire area was a joy to explore. Robert and Maggie have created the ideal retreat. Each morning we took a drive into the neighbouring towns and villages to explore and returned to enjoy a delicious grilled dinner on the patio each night. Like numerous other guests have commented, we only wish we could have stayed longer. I regret we were not able to plan our holiday with our stay at 'la Bolina' at the end, it would have been the perfect finish.

unique setting and a truely original property with lots of original art both inside and out. we had a really relaxing week at La bolina - its about 20 minutes drive to Frigiliana along quite a narrow, steep/bendy road, but the views are fantastic and its really peaceful. lots of wildlife at night but you are in the mountains so only to be expected. about 1 hour to Malaga which is well worth a visit and Granada which is about 1hr 30. Rob and Maggie were close by but very unobtrusive and very friendly and helpful. perfect location for a romantic get away.

La Bolina is one of the places you will leave with a heavy heart. The house is tenderly designed, the views are stunning. Living at La Bolina is living with beautiful art in the house and garden. Rob and Maggie are wonderful hosts. Thank you both for this outstanding place.

The owners, Maggie and Rob, meet you to ensure you can find the place on arrival and were very friendly and helpful. They have created a unique and very special place to stay. Located up on the hillside you are guaranteed brilliant views of the coast and the mountains creating a beautiful backdrop for Frigiliana and Nerja. PARADISE….We love it here and just couldn't resist coming back again. Its such a beautiful cortijo in a truly magical setting, a special place to soak up the atmosphere and truly relax - Rob and Maggie make the whole experience that little bit more perfect...
