Perfect villa for our extended family get together. Very good restaurants near by and plenty in Carvoeira not far away. Our one minor problenm was solved very quickly by the lovely lady next door. Excellent comunication from the owner.

A lovely family holiday with lots of space, and everything was perfect in the villa. Be nice if the pool was heated that would be our only thing I would suggest.

Our two families absolutely loved staying at Joao's property. Super close to a small market which provided fresh daily bread, a quick drive to bigger shopping markets, great access to several beaches (Carvalho being the favorite). The place was very clean upon arrival and check-in was easy. Spacious washrooms, laundry machine worked well, comforable beds, quiet house and area, shutters to sleep in, what more can you ask for on holiday??? Would definitely return. Thank you!!!

This was the third year in a row that we have rented Casa do Farol for a week in April. It was almost like we had only been away for a couple of weeks. The house was just the same as we had left it 12 months ago, just as comfortable, well equipped and just as homely as we remembered it. On this occasion there were eight of us, so we used all of the bedrooms and there was plenty of room for us all. We also had a two year old with us on this occasion and the house proved to be very safe for a small child, with both the pool and the property as a whole being securely fenced and gated. We really enjoy Carvoeiro at this time of year. The many excellent restaurants are all open for business, but there is no problem getting a table. The beaches aren't crowded. We checked out the spectacular beach at Praia da Marinha for the first time and I can quite see why it is considered to be in the top ten beaches in Europe. The extensive walks in either direction from the Alfanzina lighthouse along the cliff tops are very enjoyable and even a simple stroll around the Rocha Brava complex is very pleasant way to pass an hour or so. It is always a pleasure dealing with the owners, Joao and Nuno, who are always very helpful and quick to reply to any queries by email, before during and after our visit. The neighbors are also on hand in the case of any urgent problem. I would definitely recommend this villa. The fact that we keep going back each year is proof of that.

We stayed at this villa for a week as our friends were getting married nearby. There was 8 adults, 2 toddlers and a baby. We had more than enough room and it met all our needs. The villa it's self has a homely feel and the kids loved the pool. It was so nice to have a gated pool and not having to worry about any accidents. Joao (the owner) was very helpful as the pool started to make a funny noise. He responded straight away and we had the pool man around the next day (we had figured it out before he arrived that the water level was low). Would definitely stay again.

The villa was everything we expected,a lovely location with good restaurants closeby and within easy reach for everything we needed, The housekeeper was excellent and unobtrusive,The linen and towels changed regularly. I had excellent communication with the owners from start to finish.a small problem we had whilst there was sorted immediately. If I had to be critical the only thing would be the pool area it could do with some TLC.

What a superb stay! A fantastic venue for a big family or group of friends in a wonderful location. The villa has lots of space sleeping 10, yet still has that cosy lived-in vibe so you feel right at home. With a lovely lounge, kitchen and dining area, and 3 bathrooms it really does provide everything. There is a balcony upstairs overlooking the garden with a perfect view of the sea and the lighthouse – great photo opportunities! The pool area in the garden is perfect for those lazy sunbathing days with access to shade on the veranda if it gets too hot. The pool is just what you need to cool down or get some lengths in if you want some exercise. The villa is a short walk from the resort Rocha Brava where there are several restaurants and a couple of convenience stores where you can buy your necessities. We tried and would recommend every restaurant on and near the resort especially Rocha Mar where we returned several times. The villa is about a 15-20 minute walk from Praia do Carvalho beach which is in a beautiful location. Extremely picturesque however it could be quite difficult for some to get down to the beach as it involves many steep steps. We got a taxi to Carvoeiro village which was €5. It would probably only take 30 minutes to walk. A lovely place with lots of shops and market stalls. The beach at Carvoeiro is beautiful and very quaint as it isn’t too big. A great holiday in a lovely villa and a stunning location. My daughters are looking to go back with a group of friends next year! Regina Coulon

We stayed at 'Casa do Farol' for 10 days in April 2014. We were very impressed with the villa, which is very spacious. For our party of six, there was lots of space and I don't think it would seem overcrowded with a larger group. The villa is well equipped and is comfortably furnished as a traditional Algarvian house with lots of interesting ornaments and features. Each of the large double or twin bedrooms has a different style. In fact it feels very much like a family home, not just a typical holiday villa. The pool area and terrace is a real sun trap and we spent much of our vacation just relaxing here. The location is very peaceful as the road past the villa gets little traffic. Email communication with the owners Ana and Nuno, was very good from our initial enquiry right through to our arrival and they both went out of their way to help us with anything we needed to make our stay as good as it could be, even making a restaurant reservation for our first night. The house is very close to the entrance to the Rocha Brava complex, which means you have most of the facilities of the complex on your doorstep, including the excellent little cafe (with free wi-fi), mini supermarket and the tennis courts. There are also two very good restaurants within 100 metres, 'Jardim do Farol' and 'Rochamar', both of which we would very much recommend. The area has several lovely and picturesque beaches, a couple of which are within easy walking distance. You can also take a very nice long walk along the cliff tops between the various coves and beaches. It is about a 30 minute walk down into Carvoeiro, where there is a big choice of excellent restaurants and bars. If you don't fancy the walk back to the villa after a big meal, a taxi costs only 5 euros. We rented a car from the excellent AlgarveDriver.com, who also arranged our transfer from Faro, but in most respects you could probably just about manage without a car, although the nearest big supermarket is Intermarche which is about a 10 minute drive. There is also an Aldi in Carvoeiro apparently. We love Carvoeiro, especially at this time of year when the weather is just starting to get warmer (in the low 20s for most of our visit), but it is still reasonably quiet and uncrowded. This was our second visit at Easter and I wouldn't be surprised if we don't come back for many Easter visits in the future. If we do, 'Casa do Farol' will be at the top of our accommodation list.
