Carlos was the kindest host I ever had. I felt like home.
Their could be more sockets in the common areas for working.

The hostel is really familiar and chilled. You can walk to the plaza de armas in 10-15 minutes and it has everything you need. Carlos, the owner, is definitely another great part of it. He is really engaged to let everybody feel welcome and comfortable. When I arrived at 6am with the bus, it was no problem to already come to the hostel and wait there until the room and everything was ready. A bonus is also the included breakfast ;).

The owner went well out of his way to make sure all the guests were comfortable and enjoyed cajamarca the most.
He even got me a free gym session at his friends local gym!

Nice room, clean kitchen, plenty of cozy areas to hang out. Love everything about it! It is really well located, close to a shopping mall, street market and several good restaurants. ♡ Carlos (the owner) helped us a lot with all our questions.

Carlos was an incredible host that went out of his way to help us guests, even going so far as taking us on a tour in his car when agencies were shut down due to a protest. The common area is cozy and safe. There is a very nice plaza outside and it is only a 20 minute walk to Plaza de Armas

We loved our stay here! We arrived very early in the morning and Carlos and his mother welcomed us. We were both ill and Carlos went the extra mile to help us. We highly recommend this place! Carlos is a kind mind, we had good chat with him! Thank you our friend

We had an excellent stay at Ruta Alterna. Carlos the owner made us feel very welcome and went out of his way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. He had awesome recommendations for venues in the neighbourhood and places to see. What a generous and charismatic host!
The location was quiet and away from the center but close to the market and a big mall where you can stock up on everything you need.

Quiet neighborhood, ability to cook your own meals, comfortable beds and a friendly family owned hostel. It will never be crowded as there are two private rooms and one 4 person dorm

Super chill and laid back hostel, not too far of a walk from city Center. Quiet area. The host was so kind, and friendly and helped answer any of our questions.

Excellent for solo travelers, awesome host with lot of tips and knowledge about the city. You will enjoy staying here, comfortable beds and quiet. If you are wondering to travel during covid pandemic, this is the right place to avoid crowded situations.

We felt like home in this place. Comfy beds, good kitchen. The best are the hosts they are super Nice and super welcoming. We had An amazing time in this cozy hostel.

Great place, not many beds, nice welcoming host, clean. Really feel welcome, more like a house. Sometimes some music but not too often or loud, not intrusive. Bathrooms are outside the dormitory, so less noise, no waiting.

I prefer if the breakfast is not included in the price, but this is negotiable if you want to stay longer. But the breakfast is great and great service.
