Very well equipped apartment with spacious private terrace. Close to beaches, supermarkets and the lovely cities Tropea and Pizzo. Also a boat trip to Stromboli (departing from Vibo Marina, which is less than 10 minutes driving) is an experience not to miss. The owners have provided lots of useful information in advance and were always there to assist when needed. Thank you Nigel and Mandy!

Villa was absolutely fab, very family friendly. located in a quite rural area with good access to shops. Nigel & Mandy were always willing to provide suggestions on where to eat etc. Overall a nice vacation.

We stayed in the first floor apartment, it was very clean and very organised. The beds and linen were very comfortable, the shower was very powerful. We were very happy with the feel of the apartment, it was modern but very cosy and homely, the mix of new and old has been achieved very tastefully indeed. The weather was glorious during our stay and we made full use of the sun terrace whenever we could, the scenery is simply inspiring! The beaches were beautiful, there were many restaurants all of which were very cheap, but the quality was high. We would definitely recommend this apartment, we will hope to return again perhaps next year.

We had the most amazing stay and experience of Calabria - mainly due to their suggestions and recommendations! They are English locals having known the area for 10+ years with many friends in the area. We wouldn't have been able to take advantage of the best that Tropea/Briatico/Zambrone/Vibo has to offer without having read the information pack or spoken with Nigel and Mandy about things to do and places to visit. We took a speedboat out for a day at a very cheap price and ate at a fantastic, affordable seafood restaurant along the coast after anchoring and swimming to shore. Tropea is a must - lovely side streets, delicatessens, shops and gelato! We had wonderful food and drink throughout the duration of our stay as we chose to eat at restaurants which were all recommended by Nigel and Mandy. Whether its seafood, pizza, pasta, contemporary, fine-dining or quirky/unique cuisine you are looking for - they will know somewhere you will love! The apartment itself was very elegant with luxurious ornamentation - comfortable/plush terrace seating, large opulent bedrooms with a variety of pillows to suit your preference and an aesthetically astounding garden with herbs for cooking and beautiful plants and flowers surrounding you whilst you have your morning alfresco shower (should you choose to use it - I would recommend!). The apartment was equipped with absolutely everything you will need - they provide wine, condiments, local liquor, terrace BBQ, crockery, fun beach games, snorkeling equipment and much more. We rarely needed to contact them as everything was available and clearly communicated to us prior to arrival and on arrival by their local friend, Francesca - who was incredibly helpful and spoke many languages! Our stay at Villa Bergamotto was one that will stay in our fondest of memories forever. We will be revisiting Calabria next year to do all the other things we didn't get round to doing during our stay this time and we want to say a huge thank you to Nigel, Mandy, Francesca and all of the Calabrese locals who made our stay so wonderfully unforgettable. What a wonderfully chilled holiday we had in Villa Bergamotto. Decorated to a very high spec and the attention to detail was faultless. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the shaded balcony watching the sheep and goats being herded by with their tinkling bells. Then in the evening watching the stunning sunsets with a chilled glass of wine. Coastline has so many beautiful beaches. We explored quite a few during our first week but ended up loving the local lido in Briatico, La Perla Del Golfo. Very friendly family run restaurant with delicious local food. Excellent views over the sea both during the day and evening. Pizzas and local wine excellent value! Trip to the bustling town of Tropea is a must but was always such a pleasure to return to the tranquil Villa Bergamotto. Mandy and Nigel were the perfect hosts, providing so much information on the area. We had the pleasure of spending an evening with them and what a fun night we had! We hope to return one day.

The moment we drove up to the apartement my mouth dropped. The stunning scenery, modern design and clear blue sky I knew I was in for a gorgeous week in Italy. I was welcomed by a sweet, kind and well spoken lady who showed me around and even greeted me with a slice of cake and a glass of prosecco! The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen had all the necessary utilities to cook up a lovely lunch. There are no words to explain the stunning panoramic views from the upstairs terrace.. except WOW. Already getting excited about arriving back next year!!

Very nice appartement on the first floor. The owners are really friendly and helpfull. The view from the terrasse is beautiful. The appartement has everything you need, the kitchen is perfect! Also very clean! We had a short but lovely stay!

We have just returned from a magnificent holiday in Villa Bergamotto. The two of us rented the first floor apartment, on arrival we were greeted by Francessca who showed us around the apartment and was always available to contact for any additional information needed, she was so obliging. The apartment was immaculately clean and organised, you need to bring nothing! The ambiance is calm and homely, simply perfect. Nigel's information he sent us a week before we arrived was invaluable, it is so detailed, it enabled us to enjoy the area's beaches and fabulous restaurants without making any mistakes, we have rented holiday homes many times before and we have never been given so much help and info, simply top notch. My husband loved the hot power shower and wants to imitate it at home, I enjoyed the sun terrace and the magnificent views they are simply spectacular. We are already planning to return next year, I can't wait.

We (my husband, 4 year old daughter and I) just returned from a one week stay in the top floor rental of this property. We loved everything about our apartment and the area. The property is just as described and very comfortable - it is also in the perfect location for exploring the surrounding towns and beaches. Nigel and Mandy the owners were also there that week and between them and the housekeeper Francesca we were very well looked after and the recommendations they made about towns, beaches, lidos, restaurants etc. were excellent. We would love to return one day - thank you!

We spent 12 days in a villa Bergamotto, in an apartment on the first floor. Accommodation is really very nice, clean, maintained and well equipped. Whether it's a kitchen, laundry or sports equipment. The surroundins is beautiful and the view from terrace breath taking. Accommodation description and instructions actually correspond to reality. The car is really necessity. Especially we want to thank Nigel and Amanda for help by solving problems with car rental. They were actually very willing and helpful, so thanks again. I really like Nigels "instructions" for housing, and tips and tricks how to explore the surroundings :-) We also thank to Francesca, everything was very well organized. Holiday in Calabria was really nice and interesting. There you will find beautiful beaches - sandy or stone, abandoned or fully equipped. Definitely we recommend seeing surrounding cities and also visit Sicily. Too bad that the holiday can take longer .... maybe next time :-) Viera and Viliam

Wonderful weather was the icing on the cake of a superb break.beautiful and mainly deserted beaches within minutes of the property definitely a great asset !i would recommend trying to book the first floor as the view from the terrace is breathtaking including a sensational sunset! Just imagine for example Majorca 40 years ago and you've got Calabria. PS if you are into nightclubbing,head to Ibiza!

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday at Villa Bergamotto. The accommodation is first class and every detail and convenience is taken care of. If you are looking for a relaxing break in fabulous accommodation and in an area with excellent food and wine, then this is the place. This really is unspoilt Italy with a friendly smile. The weather was fantastic for end of May, the beaches clean and not full of tourists! The information for restaurants provided by the owners were spot on, especially La Lampara in Pizzo where the passion from the chef clearly showed in the food that was served, one of the finest meals we had. We highly recommend this villa and location and thank the owners, Nigel and Mandie for their efforts in making this an unforgettable holiday.

We loved everything about our stay. Accommodation was very clean & spacious, and for people like us who love to buy local food and cook, the kitchen has everything you need. I highly recommend the lido's suggested by the owners, not only were the beaches lovely the seafood was perfectly cooked and left you wanting more (and we did!). Restaurants will always be a personal choice but if you can't find a restaurant you like I will be very surprised. Enjoy and food and the views with an Aperol Spritz sit back and relax and pretend to be a local! Louise & Doug

I cannot express how stunning Villa Bergamotto is. The property is beautiful! Immaculately clean and so incredibly spacious. It was furnished wonderfully and the beds were very comfortable. The outdoor terrace is such a great place to sit and unwind with beautiful sea and countryside views, the two sun lounges were a great addition and unexpected, if you happen to run out of wine, the owners have bottles of wine you can buy! They really have thought of everything. The location of the property is great, it is only a couple of minutes drive to reach a magnificent beach and very quaint fishing harbour, shops and restaurants for everything you need. We went swimming in the sea which is great for snorkeling and were also picked up by a local fisherman in his little boat and taken along some beautiful caves, back to where we were settled on the beach. It was a lovely surprise to experience the warmth and kindness of the local people - who are all always happy to help you and have a long conversation with you - even if they don't understand what you are saying! I fell in love with Calabria after staying at Villa Bergamotto and experiencing the Calabrese lifestyle and culture. Big Tip, take the boat trip to the Aeolian islands, from the harbour, first stop, Panarea for lunch (very posh) then on to Stromboli (very hippy) for drinks and nibbles before hopping back on the boat to see the volcanic eruptions by night, it was an amazing day trip, one not to be missed. I would strongly recommend to do this if you are able to do so. Nigel & Amanda are truly two of the nicest people you could ever meet, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, you really will be blown away by their hospitality. There are so many 'small touches' they have put into the apartment, it is so beautiful that visiting once would just not be enough, I look forward to going back in 2016 and I have already booked. The only negative thing I could say is that we had to leave!

There are a number of beaches within easy reach with crystal waters, as clear as glass. The area offers inexpensive and tasty quality food. The nearby towns of Tropea and Pizzo are lively and full of character offering many restaurents, shops as well as their own beaches with a variety of amenities including restaurants with wonderful views of the sea. We also really enjoyed visiting beautiful nearby Islands using local ferries . Our favourite was Panarea which is pretty and quaint but it was exciting to see the volcano of Stromboli as it blasted hot lava. All this within a 40 minute drive from the international airport Lamezia. This is another world that we will look forward to revisiting.

Wir hatten die Wohnung im ersten Stock und konnten somit jeden Abend den super Sonnenuntergang bewundern (die Terrasse ist super). Die Wohnung ist für 3 Personen ideal - kann aber auch gut mit 4 Personen genutzt werden. Wir wurden sehr herzlich und freundlich von Amelia begrüßt. Die Wohnung ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und hat alles was man für einen entspannten Urlaub benötigt. Sehr gut sind auch die vielen Strandutensilien (Sonnenschirme, Stühle etc.). Für Ausflüge ist die Villa ein gute Ausgangspunkt, ein Mietwagen ist auf jeden Fall erforderlich. Wir hatten eine super Zeit und wünschen allen die dort Urlaub machen eine ebenso tolle Zeit ... Es ist uns volle 5 Sterne wert ... Simone, Gabriele und Roland

My friends and me stayed for one week in the first floor Apartment. It was just perfect, everything was as described on the Website. It's perfectly clean, in the kitchen you could find everything you need for preparing meals. We enjoyed the evenings with our self-made dinner on the beautiful terrace, it was our most favourite place in the morning and in the evening. The beach can be reached within 5 min. with the car, it's very clean and during our stay very empty (we were almost alone). We enjoyed our coffee and Tartufo, sometimes lunch or dinner in the Restaurant over there, where Mario was taking care of everything and made us feel very comfortable. We made several trips to Pizzo, Capo Vaticano and Tropea - These are amazing villages with very nice views to the sea and the surroundings. In general the region of Calabria is very beautiful, we were stunned how green the plants are growing over there. To sum it up, everything was just perfect. Thanks to the owners (Amanda and Nigel), who were responding to every email so quick and so nice and thanks to Amelia the housekeeper, she welcomed and supported us with her friendly and open character. My friends and I we want to come back one day (from Vienna it's just a 1.45h flight) and we can really recommend the whole package (Apartment, beach, People) to everyone. And for our next stay we will practice Italian, this is very helpful. :)

After deciding to dump the usual all-inclusive binging for a Villa holiday in Italy we can honestly say that Villa Bergamotto was the perfect choice. Upon arrival we were met by the friendly English speaking housekeeper, Amelia, She gave us a comprehensive tour of the apartment (2 large double bedrooms, beautifully finished bathroom, spacious kitchen diner and fantastic balcony) before showing us the groundfloor garage which contained a huge variety of equipment supplied by the owners for the use of guests (beach games, deck-chairs, umbrellas, snorkelling equipment, DVDs etc - all free of charge obviously). Upon waking up the next morning we had a coffee on the balcony and took in the stunning views of completely open Italian countryside. HINT: look up how to use a traditional Italian 'Moka' coffee maker if you don't already know, better still buy one for £20 and throw that £200 coffee machine away - we now have!!! Local beaches are all beautiful but would be hard to find were it not for the comprehensive guide left in the apartment by the owners. The closest beach is just a 5 min drive away in Briatico and has a couple of nice pizzeria's to use at lunchtime. If you want more of a 'Lido' set up (beach-side showers, changing rooms etc) then the 20 min drive to Tropea beach is well worth it. Evenings are best spent in Tropea which really comes alive as the sun goes down. Think busy but friendly small streets lined with boutiques, ice-cream parlours and restaurants. Parking is not as official as in the UK so anywhere on any street is fine - don't waste your time trying to find a carpark - you wont find one! When buying groceries remember that all Italians use lots of fresh, local produce and so most shops will look like a greengrocers from the front but will stock everything you need. We used two that were next to each other about 5 mins away on the main road as it was easy to pull up in front of them. Our aim was to fully unwind so we stayed at the apartment on several days making use of the modern kitchen to have breakfast, lunch and dinner between sunbathing on the Balcony. The peaceful seclusion is amazing - there is nothing for at least a mile in any direction. Based on the quality of all fixtures and fittings the apartment was obviously designed to be a fully functioning home and not just a holiday let - it was impossible to fault. This ticked all the boxes for us and we'll definitely be returning I'm sure. Jo & Stu

Hé Nigel & Amanda, We want to thank you for the great time we had during the 2 week stay in your first floor apartment. The apartment is really amazing: the big terrace is great (we spent hours on it), your housekeeper Amelia is one of the best we ever met, everything is spotlessly clean and well maintained, the flat is well equiped too. In the garage you can really find EVERYTHING for a day on the beach. One recommendation we could make: if possible, please install a mosquito screen in the bedroom. That would allow to sleep with open windows. We also discovered a nice restaurant with great food in the center of Tropea: Tre Fontana. The Risotto (a la mare), the grigliata mixed (fish) and especially the pesce spada a la Tropea were delicious. We returned the last evening because it was soooo good. We have just enjoyed our second trip here at Villa Bergamotto. The location is perfect and quality of the furnishings inside and on the terrace are 5 star. The apartments are amazing, better than the website photos and this time we had the first floor apartment which is abit smaller than the Ground Floor but it has the most amazing 360 degrees view across the bay and the green hills - perfect for enjoying the sunset each evening and still very spacious especially the main bedroom which is very large. The villa is just a five minute drive from the beautiful sandy beaches at Briatico which are quiet, and have a couple of good restaurants and several beach bars. They also do take away pizza from just 3.5 euro each and cooked in a traditional wood fired oven - fantastic ! The two medieval town of Tropea and Pizzo are just a short 10 minute scenic drive along the coast, but its lovely to get back to tranquility at the end of each day and enjoy the wonderful space and peacefulness that Villa Bergamotto offers. We have toured around Italy for many years and have finally found the best region for great priced cuisine, fantastic wines and excellent value for money! We will be back!

My husband and I spent a lovely week in this first floor app. We have never seen such a good and with so much love furnished holiday app. High quality! We found everthing in it according to the description of the owner. It was very good cleaned. The best of its all was the terrace. We use it every day for breakfast and for barbeque. You could find several restaurent tips in the app. deposited by the owner. The location is good for trips to Tropea or to the beach. A few minutes to drive you can find a supermarket and everthing for daily use. It will be our first choice in case that we choose Calabria for our holiday once again. Those looking for peace is wright here.

On arrival at the apartment we were most impressed, the journey from the airport was straightforward. The apartment is situated in a rural part of Southern Italy with stunning views from the terrace. The apartment was immaculate and very well maintained, everything you need is there and is all of a high quality, the bathroom is luxurious and the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped, there has certainly been attention to detail ensuring a welcoming stay. The Property is approximately 5 minutes drive to the beach and there are some very nice restaurants nearby. Further along the coast is Tropea which offers some beautiful beaches, plenty of shopping or you can sit and enjoy a coffee or glass of proseco and watch the world go by, again there is a huge choice of restaurants offering a good selection of high quality food, especially sea food. Overall we would certainly recommend this property and would not hestitate in rebooking.

We had a wonderful week at Villa Bergamotto this summer, we arrived late and a lovely English speaking lady called Amelia greeted us at the house. We were so I pleased with the villa, it was stylish and furnished to a very high standard with marble floors and the most comfortable beds and an amazing bathroom! Every day we enjoyed our breakfasts outside in the dappled sun pergola and loved the peacefulness and tranquility of the house. The unlimited hot water in the shower was brilliant, unlike our last experience in Calabria. We will definitely stay here again. Also can recommend a trip to the islands as this was a lovely trip, Panerea and Stromboli are definitely worth seeing. The local beach of Briatico was our favourite as the beach is so clean and well kept with beautiful and Mario and his family looked after us so well on the beach restaurant called perla del golfo for lunch and beach side drinks. Next summer we will re-book here as it was the best holiday we have had in Italy, thank you Nigel and Amanda for all your help making this such a memorable holiday.
