This home, host and location are all amazing! The yard feels like a peaceful piece of paradise, the whole vibe of the neighbourhood and the beach nearby was the best part of our vacation. We truly relaxed and unplugged. The host provided all the information we needed and the on-site caretaker gave us some of the best recommendations. We wouldn’t hesitate returning or recommending this home.

Our 6 weeks in Lanikai were perfect. The house is gorgeous and spacious enough for 4 adults to stay comfortably and still enjoy some privacy. The grounds are impeccably maintained and relaxing whether you want to swim in the pool or read under the banyan tree. No need to ever leave although the beach one block away is one of the most beautiful you will find anywhere. The property manager Zuko is on site and available to help with any and all questions. He was a lot of fun to hang out with and he’s an expert on things to do in Kailua. We couldn’t have found a better rental.

We had a wonderful stay. The home is a garden paradise and everything we could ever want in a vacation celebrating our 25th wedding gift anniversary. We enjoyed the three outdoor sitting areas (the cabana is especially nice when you want a shady cool place) and the pool is spectacular. The backyard is at least 5-10 degrees cooler than the beach because of the great Banian tree and foliage. The house is well outfitted and very comfortable. Beds, bedding and pillows were great. AC in the rooms and fans were perfect for those of us who find anything over 75 degrees to be hot. The kitchen is well stocked, including spices. As many others have shared, Topher the caretaker is incredible. He takes great care to offer local suggestions and anything else that will make your stay enjoyable. While he lives on property, he is completely isolated from the main house and yard. If he needed to take care of something like meet the landscapers or clean the deck off he would always text and prearrange a time that was convenient for us. He also saved me when the neighbors were restoring their pool (jackhammering) and I needed to work. He sent me information on co-working space that worked perfectly. He also talked with the neighbors about the construction schedule so I could plan accordingly. He is a such a gem! (And Ghirr) The home also has great beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers and anything else you may need. We can’t wait to come back!

Our family of 4 stayed here for over two weeks and were thrilled with the experience. I would not hesitate to book here again (in fact I hope we get to!). The house is well taken care of and had a perfect blend for us of feeling like "home", but also not losing that feeling that you were in this spectacular place since the house has so many Hawaiian touches - like the openness, the windows and light, the wood, and the decor. The yard was magical. It is incredibly well maintained and was like a private retreat with several areas to sit and soak it all in. The cabana area was perfect to relax, but still supervise kids swimming the pool. We really appreciated the beach and pool equipment provided also. The owners were great with communication and as other reviewers mentioned, the caretaker Topher was incredible - responsive, helpful, with great tips to get the most out of the experience.

From the first communication to the arrival at the Banyan Hideaway, Chris was very responsive and helpful. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely island home. The caretaker Topher was waiting for us with a friendly welcome and orientation when we arrived. We had never rented a property with the caretaker living onsite, but Topher always respected our privacy and gave us invaluable recommendations. When you open the gate to the front yard containing the inviting pool, hot-tub, extensive decking, and beautiful tropical landscaping, you are transported to a glorious perfect paradise. The house itself is tastefully decorated and exudes old Hawaiian charm. The pictures do not do it justice. We didn’t go on as many outings during our stay because our favorite times were spent at the Banyan Hideaway. The powder soft sand of Lanikai Beach is a short distance away, and many memorable walks and sunrises were enjoyed. We have rented properties on or near Kailua Beach several times, but our stay this time in Lanikai was the absolute best. We can’t wait to return and once again experience perfect paradise.

You can tell the owners take pride in their beautiful home. It is located in a quiet neighborhood with chirping birds & colorful Geckos! Photo opps EVERYWHERE!! Ah...where do I begin! My husband and I planned this vacation months in advance, and Chris (owner) was there from the very beginning. Her responses to my messages were timely and appropriate. Due to the Covid restrictions I thought I might have to show up a day after everyone else. Chris was very gracious by helping me get through those last 24 hours before the flight. Once my husband and I boarded the plane (on time) the fun began! Topher, the property manager met us with a great big smile & wave. He showed us around the home and answered all of our many questions. He was very informative about the neighborhood as well. He even text messaged us detailed directions to the famous Pill Box hiking trail located within walking distance from the home. He also let us borrow his stand up paddle board & little rolly thing to make our 2 minute walk to the ocean easier. The landscape was pristine and the pool and hot tub was always inviting. My family & I had such a wonderful peaceful time AGAIN in this slice of paradise! We hope to be back real soon.

Banyan Hideaway was the perfect place for our family to spend time together after all of us were vaccinated against Covid. We particularly enjoyed the 2 minute walk to Lanikai beach but it always felt nice to return to the beautiful landscaped yard with its many seating areas, pool and hot tub . A wonderful time was had by all, yound and old...and infant.

If you are feeling really adventurous, you can take the Pillbox Hike, which is also a short walk from the house to the trailhead or you can stroll along the beach to Kailua Beach. Though we were there for a month, I wish it could have been longer. In addition to the phenomenal accommodations, our host, Topher truly made our stay magical. He helped us with anything we needed including recommendations for Surf lessons, restaurants and photographers for family portraits. We are so grateful that he was there. Due to the current situation regarding covid 19, we had to cancel our long awaited vacation to Hawaii in April. I was extremely worried that we would lose all our money since it was so close to our reservation date, (our travel insurance didn't cover pandemics of course). Chris completely set my mind at ease by being kind enough to let us reschedule our stay for the following year with no penalties or additional costs. Chris was also very quick to respond with any questions or concerns that I had and was more than helpful during this stressful situation. I'm so extremely grateful and really looking forward to staying at their property next year. Thank you so much Chris!!!

Such a beautiful home and property and our family of four (2 young children) had an incredible time staying here.

We want to try and give you an honest review, with the facts, although it is very difficult, given the circumstances we found ourselves in. However, these are the disappointing aspects of our stay: - The garden is full of trees and as such there are leaves constantly everywhere, even though they have gardeners once a week, it does not stop the pool from getting dirty. This should be clean each day. The adults never went into the pool. - House had Cockroaches inside the house. We were told by Topher, (The Property Caretaker) it was due to the fact we were in the tropics. We have been going to Hawaii for 20 years and we have never encountered Cockroaches. They were throughout the house and big. A bit disconcerting to find them on the bed, in the bathrooms and running across the living room floor. - The roof leaked in several places and when we brought this to Topher's attention, he stated that it only does it when it rains and gave us bowls to place under the leaks. This went on for several days, as it was raining for a few days. We emptied the bowls and mopped up the floor. - Next issue was the Power, when you had a few appliances on in the Kitchen, the breakers tripped and the power went off, when we brought this to Topher's attention, he stated, that it's only because it's raining. So for several days of our stay, we ended up having to switch on the breaker. - The kitchen sink and the aster Bathroom Sinks were blocked, Topher gave us some powder to put down the sinks to clear them, however we only managed to clear the kitchen sink drain. - The hot tub cover is ripped and needs replacing. Upon our departure we were told that we had made a hole in the lid and as such we would be charged, through the insurance. - We had to buy our own beach Umbrellas and most of the beach items are old and need replacing or updating. - There is no Cooler for the beach and we had to borrow, Topher's. - Be aware that the pool is cold and not a heated one. Its hard to give an objective review, when the owner was so difficult to deal with. In our opinion, the house and its equipment is old and it has not been maintained as it should and needs updating. Topher did all he could as a Caretaker. Note: This owner did not abide by the VRBO COVID-19 policy and would not refund the money for the cancellation of 10 days of our trip. Due to the virus we were called back to Canada, thus cutting our trip short. VRBO and ourselves did not get a reply to our request for a refund.

Fabulous property with all the amenities for a family vacation. Truly a Hawaiian oasis close to beaches, hiking, and shopping. Pool and yard was great for kids, especially the Banyan tree. House is well stocked. We had a great vacation at your home and definitely plan to return. Thanks!

My husband and I stayed here with two other couples and everyone couldn’t say enough great things about the beautiful property, the house, the location, and the house manager, Topher. The walk to the beach is very easy and worth it — the most picturesque beach you could ask for. The pool is great as well, it was just a little chilly for the weather we had, but it’s beautiful and we enjoyed it for quick dips. We really hoped for a nearby bar/restaurant on the beach, but that was surprisingly difficult to find in the area. Aside from that, there was nothing missing in our eyes. We visited the North Shore and drove into Honolulu a couple times, and were continually reassured that our decision to stay here was the best one we could have made. You will not regret it!

We had an incredible time here. I can say enough about the place. Its really a spectacular home. The grounds are private and the pool is perfect with a shallow area for kids and a deeper area for adults. Its very close to the beach. The care taker Topher was right there for us when ever we had a question or needed anything,. Being a group of women it was that extra care he took of us that really made the stay so very special. We will be back for sure!

Where do I even start? The beautiful house? The most amazing yard and pool? The most picture perfect beach which is a 2 minute walk away? Or Topher...the nicest guy imaginable. We just (sadly) got back from a stay at this beautiful house and everything was perfect. Starting with our amazing host, Topher. I normally would not rent a house with someone onsite, but this house was so beautiful in the pics that I booked it anyway. And what a treat that was! Having Topher and his adorable cat Grr around was so great. We had all the space and privacy we needed and he was right there when we needed anything. He is the best! The house. Ohhh the house. This is a dream house. The Banyan tree with the singing birds, the gorgeous landscaping and the amazing pool were so wonderful. We have a 3 year old and the beach entry pool was so perfect for her (and us!). Also, they have everything! We packed snorkels, water shoes, kids vest, etc all for nothing. They have everything you need so pack light and enjoy. The beach. We made a mistake of trying to see other beaches when we were 200 ft away from the most perfect beach in Hawaii. Again, perfect beach for the 3 year old to “surf” and perfect for us to enjoy. The water is crystal clear, warm and the sand is like powder. Just amazing. If you’re able to stay at this house, you are sure to have an amazing time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful piece of paradise with us.

This property is amazing, it's very beautiful and well maintained. We couldn't spend enough time at the wonderful pool and the Lanikai beach and the property has so much 'facilities' (e.g. the pool/beach swimming gears/toys/floats/snorkeling gears etc etc) which makes it even more fun for kids. the property manager Topher was super helpful and has all the information and help we needed. We had such a wonderful time and can't wait to visit and stay there again. Thanks for having us!

We had a great time here. The location was perfect for us. Every day, we enjoyed returning from beautiful Lanikai Beach to the heated pool. The home has interesting art objects. And the on-site manager, Topher, was a pleasure to deal with. We will definitely return in a year or two.

My family and I just returned from a six night stay and our experience was wonderful. From start to finish everything was effortless and perfection. This house and the property is amazing! You will not be disappointed. You enter the gate and you are in your own tropical paradise with a 100 year old Banyan tree, natural pool, pool cabana, spa, a large grass lawn and large wood deck. On the deck is a great teak table set and another comfortable seating area perfect for coffee or a glass of wine. There is also a nice grill we used to grill one night. The house is beautiful with all natural wood, Hawaiian artifacts and a modern kitchen. It has 3 large bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The house has ample fans and AC (which we didn't need after the first day). Another great feature of this house is just how quiet the property is. Very peaceful. The property comes with everything you could possibly need (pool toys, beach chairs, snorkels, kayaks, towels, ice chest, etc.) The best thing about the house is how close you are to everything, especially the beach (only a short 1 block walk). Ultimately, what made this stay the best was our experience with Topher the groundskeeper/manger/host. He was so helpful and friendly. He gave us great advice on places to eat, hikes to take, etc. etc. Having him next door was a true gift. We also loved his cat Grrr! Bottom line, this will be the best place you have ever stayed. It was for us.

We loved our stay here. Topher was a spectacular host and the property exceeded expectations. The house was very comfortable and well designed. It stayed cool even on hot days. The pool was the highlight of our trip: it was a perfect way to avoid beach crowds and full sun in the afternoons.

A M A Z I N G! This home, the grounds, the location was everything and anything we could have asked for! The owner Chris was responsive and prompt in answering my numerous questions as we prepared, packed and awaited our stay at their property. The home has everything you need to indulge yourself either in home or on the property. Each evening a swim and dip in the jacuzzi awaited us. The huge deck under the immense Banian tree was perfect for morning coffee and just relaxing in this paradise. The kitchen was supremely stocked all the way down to spices on hand ( wouldn’t have brought my own). The short walk to the amazing beach was nothing (even for my 88 yr old mom). The beach- THIS is heaven on earth! Crystal clear waters, no big crashing waves (for Mom). It was just heaven. Days were spent snorkeling and just being lazy. The quick journey to the house to whip up a batch of margaritas for beachside enjoyment took 5 minutes!!!! And they were still frothy blended decadence. The caretaker became a new life friend. ‘Topher’ (his name) was delightful and so knowledgeable about the secret paths to hikes, best place for sushi, best market and so much more! It was like having our own concierge on site. In fact he was so lovely we exchanged info and stay in touch to this day! The beds and linens were so comfy nothing but sweet dreams ensued I can’t say enough good things. This home and all the people associated with it were nothing but OUTSTANDING!!!! Look no where else!!!!!

The house was bigger than expected. The lounge room was huge & had lovely high ceilings. The master bedroom and bathroom were very spacious. The tropical garden was truly glorious with plenty of areas to sit and relax. And the pool was an instant hit with the kids. Our own little slice of paradise.
