We really enjoyed our stay! The house is lovely and the location great for walking around the town and down to the beaches. Helena and David were very helpful and responsive. It was a pleasure to meet Helena and the welcome basket of local jams etc was delightful.

Our family of four enjoyed all that this beautiful house offers including the incredible location with an easy walk to the beaches and natural pools in a charming village, a great salt water pool and cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. It was a dream!

Beautiful house, very spacious within walking distance of Mosteros beach with beautiful sunsets. Small supermarket less than 5 min walk away. Mosteiros is about 40 min drive from the airport and the town of Ponta Delgada. Unfortunately the washing machine was unavailable for the duration of our stay. The host apologised and offered to do two lots of washing for us during the week. This was very helpful but it remained an inconvenience that we did not have a washing machine at our disposal as expected. Apart from this it was great.

A beautiful property that is well cared for with beautiful views, comfort, and amenities. The hosts are kind and accommodating. A special place.

After two weeks in this house, it felt like home - it is comfortable, roomy and perfect for our family of four (and added another adult after a week - still plenty of space.) Jeronimo and Helena were super communicative and responsive - they answered all of my (many) questions, sent great information in advance of our visit and had great suggestions. While the weather on the island didn't cooperate with us much, we really liked the location of the apartment - Mosterios is a great little town, we felt like home there and there was a lot to do nearby. Driving an hour or so away for the day wasn't arduous and it was nice to return to a comfortable place. I'm quite OCD and the home was clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We felt fortunate to stay with such gracious hosts!

Jeronimo and Helena are wonderful hosts, we felt welcomed and at home in the most stunning coastal town in Sao Miguel. Their house is equipped with everything you can possibly need and more and their welcome basket full of azorean goodies was thoughtful and delicious. We could not have been happier!

The home was beautiful, immaculate, and wonderfully equipped. Our hosts were gracious, thoughtful, and quick to respond to every question, even before we arrived. We had a spectacular time, in a lovely house with a beautiful private pool and a gorgeous setting in the picturesque and friendly Mosteiros community.

Na chegada, fomos recebidos com “mimos” pela proprietária (doces, vinhos e etc), uma casa super bacana e com uma vista espetacular! Ótima piscina, tamanho dos quartos e tudo mais. A semana foi ótima e voltaremos com certeza!

The villa is very well equipped and in a lovely location in the fishing village of Mosteiros, which is quieter and more tranquil than Ponta Delgada. Very beautiful scenery and coastal walks. The outdoor pool is not heated but that did not stop the children from enjoying it. Two grocery stores are in the village, a cash point and a few restaurants. If you like pizza go to O Sole Mio which is in one of the nearby villages next to a larger supermarket. They make their own fresh every day with loads of choices of toppings. You will pass it if travelling from Ponta Delgada. We loved visiting the lakes in Sete Cidades and if you like creepy things, visit the abandoned hotel. Sao Miguel is a very pretty island. Very easy to travel around if hiring a car. Helena is a wonderful host and the welcome basket of fruit, wine and chutney was very thoughtful and tasty! In colder weather, the villa can feel a little damp. We had 2 very rainy days but when the sun came out, it was glorious. If I have one criticism, it’s the pillows. Most were lumpy and I would recommend Helena buy a whole new lot of pillows to replace the lumpy and old ones. Apart from the pillows, everything else was fine. All in all a lovely place to stay and a relaxing week on a beautiful island. Thank you Helena 😊

The house was just perfect for our family vacation, clean and very spacious, has everything you can possibly need, Location is also perfect we would walk with our 3 yang kids to the center of town and to the beautiful natural pools in mosteiros almost everyday . We highly recommend !

We are an American couple from Boston who traveled to the Azores in June 2018, to this property. It easily exceeded our expectations, and Mosteiros is a great place to be based out of on Sao Miguel(in our opinion). We are not city people so we did not visit Ponta Delgada except for our arrival and departure. Knowing we were staying outside of Ponta Delgada, when we landed at the airport, we headed to Parque Atlantico to buy groceries for the week. There are a couple markets around Mosterios but we found it helpful to arrive stocked up.Our gracious hosts greeted us upon arrival, and gave us the rules/instructions + wine!. We explored all of the natural beauty we could cover in a week, and it was great. We hiked some beautiful areas, and drove to other beautiful scenic places. The trick is to not be afraid to adventure-go off the beaten path. We describe Sao Miguel as a combination of Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Vermont(US State) with a European flair. Driving around is fine, it just takes some adjusting to the narrow roads.We were a bit afraid to go to local restaurants due to our lack of Portuguese, but got our courage up to go to Restaurante Gazcidla and enjoyed it very much(they spoke english well). Went whale watching with Terra do Pico right in town, and they were great-we recommend highly. As we are also stereotypical Americans, we found the pizza restaurant in Ginetes(5 minutes away), O Sole Mio to be great( I know, don't go to The Azores to eat pizza, but they were fantastic). Most everyone knows, it is not a party place, but a place to truly enjoy nature. Hot springs in Ferraria are very cool.Overall, highly recommended property on a great island!

Wir verlebten eindrucksvolle eineinhalb Wochen im Ferienhaus von Helena und Jerome Mateus innerhalb der Ortschaft Mosteiros. Das Haus war sehr gut ausgestattet und es mangelte an nichts. Bedingt durch das sommerliche Wetter hielten wir uns vorwiegend im Außenbereich (überdachte Terrasse und Garten) auf und genossen den herrlichen Ausblick auf die benachbarten Gärten, bewaldeten Höhenzüge sowie das Meer. Mit dem Mietwagen war es uns leicht möglich, die vielen Schönheiten der Azoreninsel zu erkunden. Die Straßen befinden sich überwiegend in einem ausgezeichneten Zustand und das Verkehrsaufkommen hielt sich besonders unter der Woche in Grenzen. Eine kleine Einschränkung müssen wir jedoch machen, da eine Woche lang in der unmittelbaren Nachbarschaft täglich Laubverbrennungen stattfanden, die es uns unmöglich machten, wegen des beißenden Qualms den Außenbereich zu nutzen. Auch das permanente Hundegebell besonders nachts empfanden wir als störend. Alles in allem aber ein sehr empfehlenswerter Aufenthaltsort.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen, in der Küchen gab es frisches Obst, Wein und viele weiter Leckereien zur Begrüßung. Das Haus ist sehr sauber, groß, und super eingerichtet. Der Pool ist Klasse, toll war auch, daß statt Chlor Salz zum desinfizieren benutzt wird. Der Minimarket ist um die Ecke. Ruhige Lage, man könnte den ganzen Tag hier verbringen, aber dazu gibt es auf Sao Miguel viel zu viel zu sehen. Einzig zu beachten wäre, daß von Mosteiros aus der Weg nach Westen (Furnas, Nordeste, Vila Franco do Campo doch recht weit ist), was aber nicht mit dem wunderbaren Haus zu tun hat. Muito obrigado! Wir waren zu viert Ende Mai, Anfang Juni 2017 hier. Es handelt sich um ein sehr schönes Ferienhaus mit großartiger Ausstattung – Wifi, Wasch- und Spülmaschine, Bügelausstattung u.v.m. Dazu schöne Terrasse, großer Pool und Garten mit weidenden Kühen nebenan. Dies hat uns bei zwei doch sehr garstigen und stürmischen Regentagen auf São Miguel den Aufenthalt erleichtert. Im beschaulichen Mosteiros an der Westküste gelegen (ca. 40 Autominuten von Ponta Delgada) ist die Lokation ideal, um die westlichen Vulkansehen zu erkunden und zu erwandern. Mosteiros, direkt am Atlantik gelegen, bietet auch mehr Sonnenschein, wenn die Berge im tiefen Nebel versinken. Für uns eine ausgezeichnete Wahl und muito obrigado pelos nossos anfitriões Jerónimo e Helena.

the house is spacious and lovely, equipped with everything you could think of. beautiful garden, nice pool, kind neighbours. Helena and Jeronimo are concerned about the wellness of their guests :-) Some groceries and a bottle of their own produced wine are given to the guests I will come back some year!!
