We enjoyed the cottage very much. Beautiful views and very comfortable. Highly recommend.
4.5
Fantastic cosy base for our short stay. Great view, feels like a world away from civilisation but less than a five minute walk to Ambleside town centre. Five minutes in the opposite direction and we were onto the fells. Our host Linda was very helpful throughout.

Lovely cottage, host was very helpful

The accommodations were comfortable.
I recommend the address location be better labeled on the stone wall. The cab driver had difficulty finding Cabin 3. The stone wall hides the view of the cabin.
The laundry from the previous tenants never got picked up and the red laundry bag sat on the front stoop all week.
The outside views from the dining room window, kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms were splendid.

Had a lovely stay. Views were stunning. Cottage is pretty basic but clean and has everything you need. The walk into Ambleside is only a few minutes which is perfect for grabbing groceries or going out for a meal. The host, Linda was great and answered any questions quickly. We would return.
4.5
Amazing views and so close to Ambleside centre. This place is great. We are a family of 5 and the cottage was perfect for us. Very well equiped. We had everything we needed.
Linda the host was extemely helpful and we will absolutely be returning.

Really good cottage only about 2 mins walk from centre of Ambleside. Had everything you need for a nice simple stay in the lakes. Great views from the front room over the hills. They’ve just had a car parking space put in which is very handy.
Great communication with owner throughout. Would definitely come back.
4.5
Good communication and great property, very near to Ambleside town centre, up a steep hill, but then you benefit from amazing views. We had a lovely stay, thank you

We had a really lovely stay. Thank you! Only issue we had is there was nowhere to park so had to pay £18 to park car in central Ambleside and it was a walk... lucky we liked the walk! Host said there is planning permission for parking to be resolved. Beautiful views over the lake and the property itself was very comfortable and we enjoyed a game of Jenga on a rainy day so would recommend!

We had just over a week in this delightful cottage very nicely situated in Ambleside: an easy walk to the town (even for those of us less mobile) but a nice, quiet location for relaxing.
The view - much mentioned by other reviews - does not disappoint! The sitting room is filled with light and is very comfortable indeed. The kitchen is well-equipped. It was perfect for our needs.
Some small things to note: water pressure is much the same as in any old property, so expect a functional experience rather than a power shower. Beds were a little firm for our taste but this is entirely subjective and may suit many others! Parking wasn't always straightforward - the neighbouring properties all seemed very busy our week so be prepared for a little bit of shuffling in busy weeks, especially if you have a larger vehicle or more than one car in your party.
These were small things much outweighed by the overall experience of a great holiday. We would definitely stay again and recommend this property..

We loved everything about our stay in Ambleside Blue Hill Cottage. Close to local stores and very easy access to lots of hiking trails. We would love to go back in the future.

Our family, me, my wife and our two sons (aged 18 and 15) had a memorable time at the property. We were blessed with warm and dry weather, which was cheering especially since the forecasts had promised rain, and we made the most of the location, driving out to Keswick one day, Grizedale on another and going for a long car tour of the North West lakes that included the awe-inspiring Whinlatter, Hardknot and Wrynose mountain passes. But for the rest of the week we walked from the cottage and say the lovely Stockghyll waterfall, the "Champion Tree" walk in the woods to the south of Ambleside, and we climbed up Loughriff Fell, the big hill opposite the cottage which afforded lovely views of Ambleside on the descent. And Ambleside itself is such a gem. Although busy, it has a enchanting charm.
The cottage is so well appointed and so beautifully decorated, with comfortable furniture and aesthetically pleasing furnishings, it fitted our family so well.

Lovely well equipped property. An excellent location for the village of Ambleside which is a five minute walk to the centre and perfect base for walking Wainwright hills.

We really loved our stay at Bluehill cottage. Comfortable, great views and walking distance to the center is Ambleside.

This rental was very comfortable, and a great spot for my family during our trip to Ambleside. The kitchen was small but appropriately equipped. We appreciated the games and puzzles on rainy days. And the view is stunning.
Guests should be aware that there are no laundry facilities in this rental and the laundromat in town doesn’t have a change machine or a vending machine for detergent (It’s also pricy and busy).

Overall very positive Holiday. Nice House in beautiful area. Hiking trails in front of the house.

We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderfull cottage. From the first moment we felt at home. During our meals we could admire the view over the hills that surround the lakes. In the end we felt sorry to leave this wonderfull place. We also enjoyed the dvd's, books and hiking maps available.

Perfect spot for our stay in Ambleside. The view is amazing and it's a short walk to town. Will definitely look at staying here again when we return to the lakes.

Lovely location, lots to explore from the doorstep. Beautiful uninterrupted views to Loughrigg. Blessed to have had some time out at 3 Blue Hill Cottage 😊

Our family of four had a really lovely week at Bluehill Cottage. The sun shone almost every day and the cottage is perfect to make the most of this kind of weather - it faces south-west and gets the sun all the way from late morning until sunset. Perfect for sitting out at the front in the evening.
On arrival we had no problem parking on the lane at the front, and in fact we didn't move the car all week as the local bus service is excellent and there's lots to do in and around Ambleside itself. I'd recommend the steep but relatively short walk up Wansfell Pike for views over Ambleside and Windermere - just carry on up the lane/track as far as you can go then turn right up the steep path to the summit. The c6ottage is only a few minutes walk into the centre of Ambleside.
We were the first visitors after a recent refurbishment - everything was clean and comfortable. The kitchen is small but well designed and we had no trouble cooking there. It's worth noting the steps are steep, especially to the top floor - our kids loved the steps but they could be an issue for elderly visitors. The views from all windows at the front are fantastic.
The living room has two big sofas and was a nice space to relax in during the evenings.
Thanks Linda, we really enjoyed ourselves and hope to visit again one day!

The cottage is practically in the village of Ambleside, with the bus stop nearby. I arrived late and the host put milk, bread and butter in the kitchen, very thoughtful. The cottage was very clean and filled with things I needed and things I didn’t know I needed. The view from the cottage is amazing. In the evening I sat in the seating area in front of the cottage watching the sun go down on the hills. I arrived late and the host put milk, bread and butter in the kitchen, very thoughtful. The cottage was very clean and filled with things I needed and things I didn’t know I needed. When I had a question Linda replied fast and friendly. What a lovely, lovely place.

Great Location!
We loved staying at Blue Hill Cottage with its beautiful view of Loughrigg Fell and proximity to the downtown shops. We're hoping to return next year. Thanks!

Townhouse in ambleside.
Stayed for a few days in october half term. Location is good - Ambleside is probably the best place for exploring the lakes. However the october Weather was appalling, so gave up and came home after a few days. Not much facilities for drying wet boots, jumpers and coats. Parking is a bit tight, on road outside, had to park right down the hill on arrival day (after unloading), but found a spot thereafter. House is also a bit on the small side for a family of 5 TBH. Kitchen is really tiny, probably the smallest I've ever used. The dining area is also very congested for 5. Bedrooms are fine - decent sized double on the middle floor, and 3 singles on the top floor are tighter on space, but fine for kids. Bathroom also good and spacious. Water hot, but lowish pressure. Everything was clean and well kept.

Clean accommodation in good location
Decent property clean and comfy, parking is hit and miss if other neighbouring residents bring multiple cars! Great location and owner always helpful!

Family of 3 , we spent the first week of a August at the house, which was in a great location. On a hill, but a short walk directly into the town of Ambleside shopping, restaurants, pubs and tourist attractions. Waterhead Pier (Windermere Lake) approx 10 minutes walk away for kayaking, boat hire and other boat trips. A walk to the waterfaull in Ambleside is a lovely little evening walk and live music in the golden fleece was lovely and not forgetting the Hungarian meat balls in the Unicorn pub. The house is set on 3 floors, which my teenage son loved, (away from the oldies) and was very clean with a newly refurbished bathroom, which was lovely to relax your aching bones after the long walks. We often sat at the front of the house watching the sun gone down with a glass or two. Parking is a little difficult at times despite saying residents parking there are numerous other houses around wanting to park in the same area, but to be honest it is in the location where you don't necessarily need to take the car as the bus runs through the centre of town to many locations. For teenage activities, we chose Segway at Go-ape Grizedale (lovely place for some great walking too) Quad biking at Derwent water, which was awesome, but not for the faint hearted. Also the infinity bridge at Honister (which we did in the pouring rain) If you are a nervous driver, beware as the roads are narrow and very bendy! The house meant that we were in the heart of the Lakes and the bus and walking took us to many places. one was Buckstone Jum to swim in the waterfalls - just magical. All in all a fantastic holiday and made better, by having the house in such a great location. A lovely little find and would definitely go back.

Great location
Super location for town and all we wanted to do. It was definitely cosy for 5 but we were out all day so that didn’t matter.

Just about to leave. Unfortunately! What a brilliant time we have had. Location makes a holiday and this one could not be better for us. Turn right, about a min in to the town. Left, not long to the water. House was so comfy and surpassed expectations. The pics of the view doesn't do it justice. Also, dog owners there is a shared garden out the back. We didn't use it as mine was happy at the front with us but good to know. Linda the owner has been fantastic and quick to respond. So much to do and see. Going home knackered! Thanks Linda

Perfect for a few days away!
Two of us stayed a week. Everything was as described and it was a really simple booking and checking in process. Great view and near to everything without the hustle and bustle. Might feel a little small if five were staying.

We are a family of five and we stayed in this lovely cottage over the June half term. We absolutely loved our stay - best week ever! The cottage itself was perfect, exactly what we were expecting from the pictures and the views are even better in person! We brought our bikes with us and they fitted into the outdoor store fine which was a real bonus because there is some great cycling in the area.
For example, we really enjoyed the cycle from the house to Rydal Water down back roads passing the stepping stones (lovely cycle, fairly flat and almost traffic free once out of Ambleside despite it being a busy week). The kids swam in the lake and once we’d locked the bikes up we could walk up to Rydal cave and up Loughrigg.
In general there is so much to do, it’s hard to make a dent in a week! Things we’d really recommend is the walk up Wansfell pike (literally from the front door, just turn left) - this is a fab climb, with an amazing view but quite manageable for kids and you can come back into Ambleside via the waterfalls if you have the energy. Also the Alpaca walks (Alpacaly ever after), Honnister Slate mine (mine tours and Via Ferrara), Whinlatter forest, hiring a boat (Conniston or Windermere), Brockhole, and using the Keswick Launch to explore Derwent Water. Also it was so nice to be able to walk into Ambleside easily (great restaurants, pubs, rock shop, cafes, park etc).
Generally speaking we found it was better to book ahead for most activities (especially the boats!) but that may not be the case when it’s not half term.
Linda was a really helpful hostess - responding in minutes to any messages I sent. The cottage was very clean and suited us perfectly - so cosy!
It really was a great week and we’ll definitely be back. A big thumbs up!

Oct half term in Lakes
Very comfortable and warm property. Just what we needed during a wet and windy Oct half term. Cosy living/dining room with wonderful views from bay window onto fells. Very convenient location near central Ambleside. Kitchen was small but well kitted out. Couple of points to note: Not much storage space throughout for kitchen food or clothes in bedrooms and parking was tricky in the road a couple of times but can always park within 2 mins walk . We’d definitely come again.

Lovely break
We had a lovely stay at this property which is very close to the town centre but also good for walks from the door eg wansfell pike, baystones... also easily walkable to Windermere for open water swimming adventures. The house was clean and basic but comfortable and really had everything we needed. The boys appreciated the DVDs and board games provided. The stairs are steep and may not be appropriate for very young children or people with mobility issues but generally fine. Thanks, we hope to be back. (Parking’s a pain but you can’t have everything!!)

Great location and lovely holiday cottage
Fantastic location, and incredible views. My family and I had a wonderful stay here and would stay here again. Easily walkable into Ambleside, to Waterhead (where we hired kayaks and SUPs from Windermere Canoe and Kayak - great service), and fab walking on the doorstep. The kids loved going up to Todd Crag on the first morning and looking back at the house across the valley, and we swam in the lake from Borrans Park at Waterhead.
Outstanding pizza takeaway place 2 mins walk away: The Sourdough Pizza Co on Old Lake Road. Tasty, creative ingredients.
To put some of the other reviews in context:
Parking: I think we visited on possibly one of the busiest weeks of the year in the Lakes. No, there isn't an allocated space, but only once did we have to park on a different street. Remember that this is a house a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside.
WIFI: It wasn't an issue at all. 36mbps download, 9mbps upstream was the Speedtest result I got.
Washing machine: no, there isn't a washing machine, but bear in mind it's a really small kitchen (more room for the lounge though!), and has a dishwasher, which we found more useful. Just bring more clothes for your stay. Nobody wants to do washing while they're on holiday anyway!
Considering how holiday lettings owners have so much on their plate right now with COVID extra cleaning, limited access to staff etc, the check-in process went well and the house was well-cleaned and safe for us. In fact, everywhere we went in the Lakes, the tourism sector was absolutely on its game and we felt really safe there.
Linda had communicated that we'd need to check in later, but did so in a friendly way and explained everything well. We had a couple of questions during the week, but she was very responsive.
Overall, a really good experience.
