Positives: Great location. Kitchen spacious and fully equipped Newly renovated. Vacuum cleaner supplied. Negatives: WiFi weak Parking rules stated that guest has one spot reserved in nearby motel. Yet, the driveway has room for 3 cars and was used by no one. Based on stated rules, my son had to rent an offsite space for $150. Only one means of egress. Storm door was ill fitting and slammed loudly when let go. When put on the bread selection the toaster only toasted one side of the bread. No direction as to what outside equipment is allowed to be used. (chairs, umbrellas, hot tub, kayaks) Light bulb in shower not working.

We had a blast staying at this rental. The location and proximity to the beach was so convenient. It was clean and the mattresses were comfortable (that seemed difficult to find in our past rental experiences). Mark was very help and responsive to our questions during our stay. We hope to be back next year!

This was the perfect family beach vacation. The only detail that could have been better was only parking for one car. Luckily we were able to secure a spot in the same lot for the second car for an additional fee. Other than that this place was clean and only steps from the sand. We enjoyed many morning sunrises with our cups of coffee. Would love to stay again.

We had our wedding ceremony , honeymoon and pictures on the beach front of this beautiful cottage and along Wells Beach. Mark, his wife and Luna were wonderful hosts. Highly recommend!

This was our fourth year we have rented this apartment. This property is in great condition and the location doesn't get any better since it is steps away from the beach. The owner is a great guy and if you have questions or issues, he responds quickly and takes care of any issues that may arise. We look forward to returning again next year!

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time in beautiful Wells. You absolutely can not beat the location… just steps to the beach and the space itself is bright and feels new. Highly recommend - Mark was a great host!

Beautiful location & great access to the beach.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beach house and the central air kept the temperature so comfortable! Lawn chairs were readily available and we were 6 minutes from the lobster Pound which was fantastic. The location was perfect for us and a nice quiet beachfront with excellent communication with the owner when we had a few questions. Although you park across the street and there's only one parking space, the parking was fine and a very short walk. We loved the basement because we could still see the ocean from our windows and stay cool and you're away from any hustle and bustle from the street. I would highly recommend this location and would love to stay again!

This is our 2nd year staying in this great apartment at the beach! We love this place you would think it would feel small with 8 people but it doesn't we had plenty of sleeping and the ac works great after a hot day on the Beach. It doesn't have any real view of the beach but we stay on the beach most of the day so that does not really matter to us.. The greatest part about this apartment is its short path to the beach, only 40 steps or so to the beach. As for the parking it is not any real inconvenience to walk across the road basically is all you have to do maybe 200 feet to the space they provide. Thanks for the great stay hopfully we will see you next year!

This was our second year that we rented this charming apartment.. We were delighted to find it had been beautifully updated. It is also sunny and bright which is not easy being a basement apartment. Just outside is a patio with a grill, table and chairs.. Best of all is being right on the beach! The whole family had a great time and we hope to come back again nexxt year!

The place was a so nice and plenty of room for our 4 adults and 4 Children. The place was clean and well maintained. We would stay here again and we are hoping to next year! Well done Gallaghers!

I wrote a review in Aug 2018 on this property and everything I wrote back then still applies. This is the best basement apartment ON the beach you will ever stay in. It is incredibly well designed and the owners are first class people.

The location of this cottage and its cleanliness of this place us hard to beat. We travel with multiple family members and this cottage was directly between my aunts rental and my uncles which made our time together much more convenient. The outside patio was a nice convince that we used for multiple dinners and The private walk to the beach was nicely done. The only issue we had was the parking. Having to park across the street and lug groceries and other items seemed odd when there was 2 empty spots all week. We are hoping to rent this place again next year.

The place was nice and clean, beach access was great! My only complaints would be there were no hooks in the bathroom for towels other than one on the back of the door which isn’t adequate for a 3 bedroom rental. The rental stated 2 parking spots in designated spots when we arrived it said only 1 spot and not at the location it was across the street down the road a couple places at the cottages which charged $120 per week for additional cars and she only took cash (we had 3 cars). Only one exit as it was in the basement. I would also bring my own blankets next time as the ones in my room didn’t smell very fresh. But overall it was good I was there for the beach so didn’t spend a lot of time inside. I would attach the contract stating 2 parking spaces if there was an option to do so.

This was a pretty seamless and smooth booking- no issues what so ever and any questions we had prior to our stay was answered quickly. Definitely a great experience.

Any previous comments about this unit being old or needing AC or having a bad demumidifier etc should be ignored! Owners must have done a major update to the property as the unit is like new with air conditioning, full kitchen including a dishwasher, and a kitchen table (pull it away from the wall and open the wings and you can get 6 adults around it with additional bar seating if you have a large group like us). We have stayed in basement units before and know that dampness comes with the territory but this apartment really has a nice atmosphere and the AC helps a lot. We had the maximum allowable people in the unit and had a fantastic week. Our goal was to get back on the beachside of Wells Beach at a price which was still in our budget. Mission accomplished! So nice to walk out directly to the beach instead of crossing the road etc. Owners of the home have provided beach chairs so you do not need to bring your own chairs. In addition they provide a grill and there is plenty of space outside to store beach toys etc on the basment porch. Also, an unexpected bonus was how the apartment is laid out. Windows allow natural light in and from the front windows you can see the ocean. However, the basement unit and windows are set back from the edge of the house that you do not have people walking by and looking down into your bedrooms (as we have had in other basement units). Also there is a massive hedge next to the private walkway to the beach which separates the property from the public walkway you may see on google maps. In other words, no one will be walking by and looking in on your family. Finally, the owners are either excellent gardeners or hire someone who knows what they are doing. From the kitchen windows you look out on their gardens. Nice, unexpected touch there. Suggestion when talking to your family about the unit...I booked it when I thought it was going to be a typical musky / damp / small basment unit with the benefit of being back on the beachside....all of which I thought was true. Well, when my family arrived and saw what the unit was actually like (ie awesome) they thought it was the best property we have rented in 10 years! The updates really were dramatic compared to what we were expecting. only addition needed would be washer / dryer but there is a laudromat on the main road in front of Hannafords and across from Subway. So, plan accordingly. Owner very engaging and responsive. Very happy clients here!

We were met when we arrived by both Mark and Patty and quickly we felt at home. The house was well equipped with everything we needed to enjoy your family vacation. Location was perfect, 15 steps to the beach. Parking was accross the street, but very convenient and easy to get the vehicle when needed. The rooms were very good size, and plenty of storage throughout. Mark had purchased fuel for gas grill which made cooking outside a breeze. They also had went and purchased new beach chairs for us to us during our stay. Overall we were very pleased with all accommodations and would reccommend this location to others and would definately rent this location again next year. Thanks to both Mark and Patty's for their hospitality . It clearly made our summer vacation special.

The apartment was very clean and well supplied. A few steps from the beach. The only downside was that there was no kitchen table only a breakfast counter and the parking was at another location nearby.

This rental was bad right from the start when we couldn't find the property because the pictures show a green house that appears to open to the beach. It's actually a dark blue that opens to the driveway and another building. When we got over the shock we entered the rental to a blast of hot air from the dehumidifiers which we were instructed to keep running. When we turned them off because we couldn't stand the heat it was so damp my family thought I had mopped the floor. Everyone had a cough by the end of the week that cleared up as soon as we left. We had no wifi after the first 2 days tho all of the rentals around us were fine. The owner was completely unresponsive said it had something to do with salt tho he had wifi in his house above us.We heard from area renters that this wasn't he first time the wifi was out in that unit. One of the tvs was internet only so no tv in the bedroom. The fire alarms kept going off causing several evacuations. A faulty detector but major disruption with children! One of the sofas in the pictures was not even present. The bathroom fan in the tiny bathroom didn't work causing the smoke detector right outside to go off. I would not recommend this rental to anyone. The owner did not seem to care about our issues. I requested at least a partial refund since several of our party had to leave because of the no internet but no response. I tried HomeAway resolution but there really is no recourse for this misrepresentation. Unless you can prove a material loss such as not being able to enter the property at all there is no recourse. Buyer beware!

Only suggestion would be to put in AC

My family has stayed in this nice basement apartment for the past four summers at Wells Beach. We absolutely love this apartment! As someone who likes to cook ALL the Maine seafood, the modern kitchen is fully stocked with the necessary pots, pans, and cooking utensils--a huge plus. A nice patio is outside the front door, with a grill and new outdoor furniture for dining al fresco. The owners are very responsive if any issues are present. For example, this year we had some problems connecting to the WiFi (a must for us), and they promptly remedied the situation. Most importantly is that the apartment is mere steps from the beach! Running in and out of the apartment to use the bathroom, grab snacks, refill drinks, etc., is a breeze. The space works perfectly for our family of four.

Updated, clean and overall great rental! Can't beat the location as you are literally 15 steps to the beach.
