This is a good place to stay - the house is great and the location is perfect. However, the check in ptocess was very frustrating. The VRBO listing gives the wrong address, so when we arrived we pulled into a neighbor's driveway by accident. This apparently happens a lot because the neighbor (who was home) immediately pointed us to the correct house. Then the check in instructions gave the wrong key code for the front door, so we had to call and message the host multiple times just to get inside. Once inside I discovered that the VRBO app said one of the Wifi routers was named "Vets4Trump" - I don't care to have my host fling their politics in my face. The host should update their VRBO listing to be more accurate and make the check in process less frustrating

We stayed at this listing in mid July of 2021. On our first night, we noticed that there was only AC in the master bedroom. This was a major inconvenience, as we had 8 guests staying in multiple rooms. In addition, we noticed a locked room that was advertised as included/usable in the initial advertisement for this property. We had two adult male guests sleeping on a pullout couch downstairs because this room was not open/available. We also noticed from the beginning of our stay that the plumbing system in the downstairs bathroom wasn’t up to par, as it continuously would be backed up upon flushing. The pool area was beautiful, however, the pool temp was set definitely at 90 degrees and we were unable to change it - not ideal for southern VA temps.
Perhaps the worst part of this stay was when my daughter in law came running outside telling us that the kitchen sink was overflowing with sewage - this included toilet paper and sewage overflowing onto all areas of the kitchen (cabinets, utensils, glassware, etc). We came to find out that every time someone took a shower upstairs and flushed the upstairs toilet, the plumbing system somehow backed up into the kitchen sink. We had notified the property manager immediately about this, but he failed to respond to us for almost a day and a half after multiple calls and texts. After about a day and a half, he arrived and fixed the downstairs sink on our last night of vacation. This took about 2 hours to fully clean and sanitize the kitchen area. Food and soiled clothes had to be thrown away.
When we came home from our vacation, I had contacted the property manager, asking for at least half of a refund due to our losses of food, clothes, and overall inconvenience. The manager only gave a $255 refund on this. After this, we contacted him again because this just wasn’t good enough for us based on all of the inconveniences we suffered. We were very disappointed with the lack of communication as well as the seeming lack of concern, especially with sewage coming out into areas where people eat.

Overall, we had a great time at Joshua and Renae’s home. They were super kind and accommodating to our requests prior to check-in. We were very pleased with how clean the house was upon arrival. I have a thing about dusty-feeling homes and this was NOT an issue at all. There were 10 adults and we had plenty of beds and space to sleep and hang out.
My friends and I spent the majority of time outside. There’s plenty of yard space and the pool is wonderful. There are grills, pool floats and a fire pit in the back. Our only drawback was that we missed a day of the pool because of weekly servicing. It was a pleasant surprise to have so many towels for the pool available. The large washer and dryer was helpful to keep everything clean and dry after the pool. The home has a bunch of little things you may need for your stay.
The distance to the main boardwalk was about a 20 minute drive but we enjoyed the pool so much that we only went once. There are plenty of grocery stores and anything you may need nearby. We would definitely return!

The owner of this property contacted me at midnight before the day of our departure which was to be 10 am since we live 7 hours away in New Jersey, to tell us that we had to cut our vacation short by one day. Obviously this was not okay with us as we lose 2 days to travel to Virginia and contacted him in the morning to discuss. Joshua gave us a confusing reason, which later changed to there was a double booking, and told us that he had the power to modify our reservation at any time which we were unaware of. Joshua promised us a full day refund for the day we were not staying there (to date we have not received a full refund - only partial and this modification occurred on our date of departure on August 22nd) and after some negotiation, a $100 credit for our inconvenience which we have still not received and have been home a week. He has stopped communicating with us which leads me to believe he has no intention of paying us the money owed and I have a case open with VRBO to secure those monies. With respect to the property, it was mostly lovely, especially the pool, but when we arrived there were wet towels in the linen closet which had to be rewashed by me and also not enough to accommodate 7 people for showers and pool towels. After going back and forth Joshua told me that he was only required to have 10 towels which is the amount of guests the place sleeps and that anything extra would be considered a "personal item." Unfortunately there is no place that states this and we had to go out and buy towels. He was not forthcoming in communication with us and we had two days where we couldn't figure out how the living room TV worked. So while we enjoyed our vacation, this owner put a damper on things from the beginning and we are now fighting for what is rightfully ours. Buyer beware with this property as apparently he has the right to cancel all the way up to the date of, despite the renter having to give 60 days notice for a cancellation and full refund.

We enjoyed our time at the house; especially the backyard and pool. I recommend that the owner post the depth of the pool. It is a pretty steep slope from the shallow to deep end and could be alarming for children. I did not inquire prior and should have done so. The home is well-equipped and in a decent location approx 20-30 mins to Chicks Beach and 40 minutes to Sandbridge. We elected to visit these beaches to minimize interaction with others and we really enjoyed both.
There were a few areas in need of repair including a window in the family room and the master bathroom shower is dark, saw a few ants and it could really use new tile. We did not use the shower as a result. The sunroom outside could also use a good cleaning and screen replacement in some areas. We spent a lot of time out there and a citronella candle definitely helped. We did not contact the owner for these things as they were minor in the larger scheme of things and we did not want to spend our time dealing with issues or repairs while on vacation. Finally, new carpet upstairs would do wonders for this home. All in all it was comfortable and a much needed getaway.

I went with my family for the week. When we showed up we saw plastic on the front window with the living room window busted out and it did stay that way our entire trip. My husband and I had the master the master light had a chandelier light with one TWO working lights! My daughter and son in laws fan was falling apart but the did come fix that. The neighborhood is super suspect and we were a good 25 minute drive to the beach. The one thing we really did enjoy was the pool. But we will definitely do more research next vacation and we don’t recommend this house if you want the beach experience and a safe neighborhood. Also while there we did get hit with a tropical storm lost power for 15 hours I text the owner to see if we could at least get an eta on when the power company expects power to come back on and I was basically told he has no control and did not call. As a hurricane area if I rented a house I personally would have a tub stored somewhere with flash lights, candles ect. Some of the sleeping arrangements were also a little misleading! We talked to a group staying the beach paying less for their rental. My advice do your research wellllll before you book! Not worth 4,000 a week at all!

The house was great, big enough for 6 adults and 4 kids. Plenty of room inside and outside the house. Kids loved the pool. Great place to spend a family vacation.

The house was nice and had almost all the necessary supplies. The best part was the pool and backyard. The only complaint we had was that there was no hot water in one of the showers but that could have been just a temporary thing and there was another shower with hot water. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

There was a lot of ants inside and outside. Mold in the shower and the laundry area smells like urine. The house was fairly clean. The pool needs work but it’s a nice amenity. The screened back porch is a nice space.
