Superior Views - a safe place on 13 acres With A Private Wilderness Setting

Can’t wait to come back. Perfect getaway!

We loved the cabin and all the amenities it offered. It was perfect for a small family and was accessible to most major north shore attractions near the Lutsen area. We had one rainy day and the cabin was a relaxing and spacious place to relax. We hope to come again!

The screen porch is a great place to hang out. The kitchen had everything needed to cook meals. Location is great near hiking areas and restaurants.

My wife and I and our dog stayed for 3 nights in the Bunkhouse. The property is in a great location surrounded by trees with a view of Lake Superior. The enclosed porch and outdoor seating allowed us to take in the beautiful scenery. There are trails by the property which were great for walking our dog. The beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, we were never able to communicate with the host before arriving at the property despite messages and texts we sent to him. We even had to call VRBO regarding the situation. They sent him an email to which he didn't respond. It is not usual to show up at a property expecting the front door to be open but that's what happened. After we left, I received a text from the host stating that he was in Canada without phone service. He should have let us known that he would be inaccessible before he left. Even leaving a note on the door would have sufficed.

It was the perfect place for our girls trip, tucked in the woods with a glimpse of the lake!!!

Great location, everything we wanted to do was 5-25 minutes away.
Cabin was super functional.
Good measure of privacy, the living room, separated, the two bedrooms.
Screened porch was great.
Comfortable beds.

Our family enjoyed our time at this cabin. It was quaint, well furnished, centrally located near many area attractions, and our dogs were happy to be there as well. The view of Lk Superior and the stars at night were lovely! We enjoyed the screened in porch also even though the bugs weren't bad during our visit. The lupines were its crowning touch!

Perfect location for exploring all the north shore has to offer. The cabin was very well stocked, clean and had newer appliances. We really enjoyed the screened in porch. Communication with the host was prompt. All five adults agreed they'd love to stay here again!

John was very friendly and helpful during our stay. He has put a lot of work into this place. The master bedroom was spacious and comfortable. The screen porch is an awesome space! It has a very remote and backwoods feel. We loved having a garage for our bikes. We would happily stay here again.

Overall we loved staying at this cabin. The master bedroom was huge and the screen porch was nice for morning coffee and nighttime activities/hanging out. We were a but disappointed with a could of things such as there weren't any pans, cooking oil, coffee for the coffee maker (yes, I know this can just be complimentary but I don't remember staying somewhere there want even a little Folgers packet), and we weren't informed that the water was tested and slightly above the acceptable arsenic level. I had to inquire with the owner of it was okay to drink as we had a newborn and just trying to be cautious with them. Again, lived the location and place to stay but would have appreciated a few of the extra amenities and a heads up about the water. The check in process is also a phone call to the owner, fyi.

We had a great time staying at this property! John was fantastic to work with, I highly recommend staying here, especially if you’re skiing at Lutsen! This home is only about five minutes away from Minnesota’s finest skiing!

We came to the area to ski Lutsen for a few days, and this was the perfect spot to rest after a day on the slopes. Quiet. Private. Wonderful.

The cabin was very cozy, clean and comfortable. There is an awesome fire pit outside with a lot of wood for a fire. We were there to relax and visit friends in the area. John did check in with us to make sure everything was good. Though not on the lake the view was great! Will be going back and recommend it to friends

My wife and I, plus our two dogs, had a great stay at the Lutsen Bunkhouse. The property is an amazing base site for enjoying the North Shore in the Lutsen area. We really enjoyed talking with John, the owner, and look forward to coming back in the future. Just a great place to relax!

The bunk was very cozy and we felt very relaxed there. The trees had beautiful color all around. We could access some nice walks/hikes right from the cabin. Had a nice fire pit, but we never had a fire.
Would recommend this place 100%.

We spent a quick weekend in the bunkhouse for my wife’s birthday with our two kids and neurotic dog (who was also celebrating his birthday). We were surprised at how secluded the cabin felt despite being so close to the Lutsen ski area. The living spaces are comfortable and we had a lot of fun cooking, puzzling, and adventuring. The host recommended a quick hike with great fall colors that was the perfect length for kids and had an amazing view. Unfortunately we ran into some soggy weather so we didn’t hike the property as much as we would have liked, but that also gives us a good reason to return.

We had an excellent time at this cabin. We enjoyed the large fire pit. It is secluded, up a private dirt road. My daughter loved hanging out on the swing in the front yard. The master bedroom is large. The pictures show a bunkbed, but there is not one. There are two beds in a second bedroom. The host was responsive.

Nice cabin not too far off the main drag. Lutsen location close to Cascade State Park, Grand Marais and other amenities up Hwy 61. We did take an afternoon trip up to the High Falls on the Pigeon river from both the US and Canada sides and then Thunder Bay Ontario (about 2 hours from the cabin).

We hit terrible weather on the day of our reservation on our way up. Property owner wouldn't refund a penny. And when I asked if he'd prorate the stay on later dates, that was impossible.
Greed.

This property is a great mix of privacy and proximity to main attractions of the North Shore. Plenty of space to spread out and the setting/view is hard to beat.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the bunkhouse! It was quiet and peaceful...just what we needed! The cabin is really cute and cozy. We enjoyed the photos and decor, especially the moose photos! We enjoyed relaxing at the cabin, walking the dirt road, throwing rocks in Lake Superior, and exploring the surrounding cities. We definitely recommend eating at Bluefin Grill!

John was a great host from the time of initial booking to check out. My husband and I had a beautiful quiet weekend together with our dogs by our side. Loved sitting on the giant swing in the front yard and enjoying the view of Lake Superior.

We had a wonderful time. John’s cabin is situated in a beautiful woods. It was clean and comfortable, and we spent a lot of time on the outside porch and deck. The weather was beautiful and we absolutely love that gigantic Great Lake that is just a moment away.

Had to call the owner to get code. He said door was open. Would have been good to have been notified that early in the day rather than worrying about receiving a code. Dirty towels were left on the floor in the washer dryer area. Didn't bother us because we didn't use 2nd bedroom. Remote to TV - the volume didn't work on it. Bedroom slider door wouldn't lock...basically place was left unlocked the whole time. Owner is very nice though. He checked up on us and offered tips on where to go and what to see. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking at Lake Superior. It was real quiet except for Friday nite when the neighbors a house over had a big ruckus. We hoped a bear would walk by the house but all we saw was a skunk walking around the yard. Overall, enjoyed the stay.

We had a great stay at the Bunkhouse. It was perfect for our sister hiking weekend. Easy access to the Superior Hiking Trail and a great place to relax after a long day of hiking. John is a very responsive host and made sure we had everything we needed.

We liked the location and the cabin was ok. The cabin had no smoke detectors. I am pretty sure that is against all fire codes. The sliding door did not lock, we found a stick and put in the door for safety. The cabin needed an extetminator. We got eaten up by spiders. Both my husband and I had tons of bite marks all over our head & neck (were not mosquito bites). We woke up with them on our heads & neck.

Our family with young kids had a great stay at John’s cabin. It’s very secluded but still close to lots of things to do. Spacious for our family of four, nice screened in porch, propane grill, lots of fire wood. Very clean! And very nice to have washing machine on site. The hammock chair with a view of Lake Superior was a really nice place to relax. Highly recommend!
