I liked the friendliness of the people and cleanliness of the room.
Nothing could have been better.

The staff were friendly & helpful. It was on ground floor & private. There was safe off road parking.
The breakfast could have been more exciting, eg only cereal available was rice crispies. Choice was full English & toast, no yogurt or fruit.

Even though there was not a wide choice of items, breakfast was good with tasty bacon and sausages. We would like to say Thank You to John who seemed to do everything; cook & serve breakfast (being amenable to daily changes to breakfast requests) and all the housekeeping one change over days.
Most of the rooms are based around the courtyard, so no awkward steps to climb.
What readers need to consider is that Saracens Head is a very old Public House on a main road, it is not accommodation in a chain where everything is the same.
The evening food was very good and great portion size too. No food on a Monday but lots of options within walking distance.
The evening pub staff were friendly and accommodating.
Even though we had communication from the owner before arriving, they were not on the premises or made themselves known to the residents for the whole of our 5 night stay, which we thought was a bit strange considering they lived opposite.
The twin bed mattresses in room 3 may need to be upgraded as the edges have lost their structure so easy to roll out of bed!

Although it was May it was a bit cold in the room.

Breakfast was ok except below.
Location was fine once I got there.
I like more fruit or vegetables with my meals than was on offer.
The website seems to show a different property and I had some difficulty with my satnav in getting to the right location.

Central location. Courtyard room very quiet and good size.
Room far too cold, no heating on even when we arrived after 5pm in January. Not enough warm bedding.
Inferior quality of sausages in full English breakfast, skin like rubber.

The bar was warm and welcoming. The food very good at a fair price. There was a convivial atmosphere.
There were exceptionally cold temperatures outside on our arrival mid afternoon but our room had not been heated in advance - with only one rad. for a very large room with pitched roof, draughty door and windows without double glazing , freezing bathroom and unaired beds we were obviously going to face a challenging night without help. We asked for , at minimum, hot water bottles with a request for a portable heater. Our request was repeated after supper as the room was still unacceptably cold even after the radiator had been turned up and the bathroom electric rad. had remained on with the light switched on. We were given no assistance at all and only got through a very uncomfortable night with the help of any item in the room we could layer on the beds. It was too cold to use the shower to warm us up. The final straw was breakfast - the stand-in cook could not boil an egg. He apologised that he was summoned at short notice to help out. He said he was only just learning to cook. Even the toast was disappointing.

We travelled in December. The area is so pretty with lights.
When we arrived the staff helped us with our bags. Very clean property.
We couldn’t find anything to say. All was good.

Breakfast was fine but felt uncomfortable by selecting to omit items.
Room 5 and 6 share a thermostat which was explained as if one room was warm they were able to turn heating off for both rooms . But the time we realised this at bed time my brothers room heating was off and off on the timer resulting in being freezing. We had to swap rooms with my brother.

The accommodation is above possibly the best pub I've been in. Welcoming, well priced food, descent beer, great atmosphere. Just great.
The room was clean & tidy. The bed was comfy. The place is a bit quirky so don't expect a standard boring hotel chain. It's full of character, as you might expect in a 500 year old pub.
The town/village is delightful too. Well worth a stroll around.
There is no car parking onsite but if you ask it is available with a two minute walk
Struggling to think of downsides. A tap was stuck but that's about it.

The pub aspect of the accommodation of this historical building was very reasonable and the location perfect for my requirements. The staff were polite and the room did contain tea, coffee, biscuits and a large TV, also soap and shampoo. Breakfasts were okay and served in the pub.
Access to the room was via a steep, irregular staircase and a very grubby carpet. The room was dominated by a very old 4 poster bed and whilst the bedding was clean the room overheads were very dusty. and the carpet stained. Access to the small, stained veneer floor on-suite bathroom was via a sliding door and it contained a grubby 'hair wash' type shower supported by a 'zip' clip; control was precarious but it did eventually supply warm water. The extractor fan within the shower was thick with dust. The toilet was operated through a macerator that created a constant odour that permeated the room. The 'hand' basin was very small and drained very slowly. The kettle

Unfortunately I did not stay at the Saracens Head inn, so unable to rate the accommodation.
I recently had an extremely unpleasant experience with my paid stay at Saracens Head Inn. My daughter had suffered a dog bite to her face, and we were rushing back from the hospital when we arrived at the inn, traumatized and exhausted. However, our ordeal was far from over.
Upon our arrival, there was no one at the front desk to check us in, and our attempts to contact the inn via the provided phone number proved futile. We called the number a staggering 10 times, and there was neither an answer nor an answering machine. Left with no other option, we had to hire another taxi to take us to alternative accommodation, costing us even more money on top of the already stressful situation.
The following day, we reached out to Saracens Head Inn and spoke to the manager. At first, he admitted in a message logged through the bookings.com platform that there were indeed BT phone problems. However, his attitude quickly took a turn for the worse. He accused me of lying, claiming that there was an answering machine and that I never called. To support my side of the story, I provided evidence of the 10 calls made, which should have been more than enough to prove our predicament. Despite this, the manager became increasingly irate and abruptly hung up on me.
Frustrated and disappointed, I contacted bookings.com and presented them with all the evidence supporting my complaint. They assured me that they would forward the matter to Saracens Head Inn for resolution. Regrettably, I have been refused a refund for my stay, despite not even spending a single night at the accommodation. This lack of empathy and understanding from the manager, especially considering the unforeseen and traumatic circumstances surrounding my daughter's experience, was deeply unsettling.

Cosy little room, yummy breakfast. My dog came too and everyone was really friendly.
Could have been better insulated for noise-it sounded like there were people in the room with me! Could have done with knowing the free parking was off site.

Location and car parking excellent, and early access to the room was helpful. Beautiful hanging baskets
Rooms are very dated and if near the courtyard noisy until the pub closes. Breakfast poor: full English was ok plus tea/coffee, some toast and orange juice but nothing else visible eg cereals, yoghurts, fruit. Staff doing their best but not professional

It was a good location, very near the high road.
It wasn’t clean, there were clothes from a previous guest in the cupboards and far too expensive for the quality of the place. It could do with a dust to get rid of the sheer number of cobwebs. Breakfast room/the pub didn’t look overly appealing, so we ended up going elsewhere for breakfast.

The rooms felt dirty. Carpets grubby! Our room had to have window open all the time because of mouldy smell -Rm 1. The small buffet that was ordered was an improvement on previous ones. We visit family regularly & usually stay there but not anymore until a refurb! Breakfast needs improving!!

The Pub is beautiful and old with beams and the floors are all uneven but that adds to the charm doors really low, if you have mobility issues upstairs room would be a challenge.
The staff were lovely and so were the locals that used the pub the village is beautiful. Breakfast was brilliant.
The room was small and very quirky, twin bed although we asked for double, bathroom was a cupboard shower very tired and the toilet had a macerator which was incredibly noisy you could here people through the walls and hear there toilets.

Breakfast was basic English with no obvious cereals or alternative. Coffee seemed to be basic. Breakfast was cooked well and bacon lovely with fresh cooked tomatoes.
General cleanliness was poor. Plug stuck in sink so could not empty it. Black mold around the shower cubicle. Carpet could do with a thorough washing. Bedroom wall’s so thin I could hear the conversation next room.
