Not clean, bad food, charging extra, measly breakfast. Should be listed as a 1 star hotel. Be aware of their extra charges which are not listed when booking.

Everything was perfect, the staff is amazing. Surely the best staff I've ever met during a vacation.
Asante sana to everybody

We stayed in the beachfront Villa which was perfect for our young family (1 and 3 year old) for 7 nights. It was clean, spacious, private and a great location just a few steps away from the beach! The hotel grounds were very well maintained too. It was very relaxing and peaceful.
The staff were were all very warm and welcoming - and our children felt very at home, as did we! Special thanks to all the staff, Tatu, Jyoce, Ibrahim, Jisht- everyone was very kind and helpful.
We had a car so we could get around - the property was a good base to visit Nwungi from.
We would love to come back and we hopefully will!
Perhaps more options at lunch / dinner, as we stayed here for 7 nights.
Sea urchins on the beach - however the hotel does provide special shoes if you want to walk at low tide on the beach.

great location- fantastic beach. staff and accommodation were super.
hard to swim due to sea urchins. my only complaint would be perhaps having a slightly broader selection at dinner which was also relatively pricey. Minor comments for a great hotel

Lovely location on the beach. Quiet and peaceful. If one desires a bit more excitement or activity, there are places nearby that can be visited. Love that there are free bicycles and swimming shoes available; the bikes are in surprisingly good shape and can be used to ride on the beach or in the nearby village. Joshua, the guest relations manager, was extremely helpful, including allowing us a late checkout on our day of departure. The rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful, too.
The swimming is not good at low tide, particularly because of sea urchins but the pool is a pleasant alternative.

The style of the property in the bar, restaurant, and the pool and outdoor areas is very nicely done. It's a pleasant place to spend time. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The access to the beautiful local beach is great, with sun loungers available.
The menu at the restaurant is good and varied, and the standard of the food was decent. The bar offered lots of options and great service.
Great massages and treatments in the spa for a reasonable price.
The room was pretty sparsely decorated and equipped (no TV, minibar/fridge or even a phone for calling reception). I appreciate that it's an aesthetic many people probably love, and It's not like I'm going on holiday to spend the days in the room watching TV, but still I was slightly disappointed. Also the mattress was the hardest I've ever experienced in my life (although I actually slept well on it to be fair).
I hate to say it, as the staff were so friendly and pleasant to us, but the level of service in the restaurant was poor. There were mistakes with orders at pretty much every meal we had - it may be small things like incorrect breakfast items being brought out, incorrect sides with dinner, or the wrong bottle of wine, but it happened so often it almost became funny. Also, the breakfast buffet wasn't well attended, and on more than one occasion I had to find a member of staff and ask for coffee or milk to be topped up, and was left standing around waiting while they were.
The selection at breakfast was also pretty poor.
There were issues with the plumbing in our room, and frequent power cuts, which I know are not necessarily the hotel's fault - I work for an African infrastructure company so I know what it can be like. However, I felt they could have been a bit quicker or more generous in their use of their backup generator - as an example, my wife and I had to get ready to go out for a very special dinner by having cold showers in the dark and not being able to use the hairdryer.
The wireless, while available widely around the property, was almost unusably slow most of the time.
The hotel's prices for transfers, activities and excursions are absolutely extortionate. Find a local driver or one of the many vendors on the beach if you're interested in any of these.
This property, while obviously not the most expensive on the island, is far from cheap.

Perfect place for relaxation. Great facilities, rooms and staff. Beach is beautiful and we really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the place. Food in the restaurant was great and can totally recommend.

The location is fabulous! Staff are very friendly and helpful. The views of the beach are fantastic, especially while having breakfast. Breakfast selection is varied and nice however food quality is not consistent.
The only negative point would be the food. Hotel Management has to invest in training the chefs in order to prepare consistent food and a selection that would be as satisfying as the Hotel standard itself.

The beach is good!
Cockroaches in the food.
When I approached the director to complain about the cockroach found in the food, he waved me away with his index finger pointing to the hotel manager, he didn’t even greet or apologize. I had to argue and explain that I won’t pay for food that has cockroaches in it. They finally agreed to remove the charge!
The mattresses were very hard till we complained, then they put a soft mattress on top of the hard one.
The rooms have small louvre like windows behind the bed and the doors are louvres with no mosquito net, therefore plenty mosquitoes and fear of malaria.
The restaurant ran out of soft drinks.
The buns for burgers were rock hard, the chef claimed he forgot them in the warmer.
The curtains in the rooms are light white cotton so woke up with first light.
Breakfast is definitely not a 4 star hotel breakfast.
We couldn’t get drinks or sandwiches served on the beach.

Location is great, amazing views over the ocean, nice beach....
Restaurant service is very good
They should improve menu, not a lot to chose and poor variety.

We had a Wonderfull stay at the hotel with my husband and kids. The staff is super nice and helpful. The location of the hotel is breath taking.
The food from the hotel isn't great, specially if you stay for 4-5 days, a lot of meals are not available and the hotel cannot provide any fresh fish, which is a bit sad when you are right on the beach, full of Fishermans!
Breakfast were great!

The location is amazing. Beautiful beach and swimming pool.
The housekeeping is making up the bed 2-3 times a day. When it starts getting darker they put the small lights on in the bedroom.
The staff is really friendly.
Special thanks to Joyce, Baraka and Joshua for the hospitality!

Beautiful hotel located on the beautiful beach. Very friendly and personal staff. Rooms were carefully cleaned every day and so was the rest of the hotel. Nicely situated outdoor restaurant and several diving schools situated nearby. Staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help you with everything you asked. Managers were constantly checking with us to make sure everything was ok.
All was good but my teenagers really missed a gym. But I do understand that teenager may not be the focus group of this hotel.

Everything was very good. The restaurant had a lot of choice on the menu.
Room was very good
A staffmember at the restaurant was very very very slow. But that’s how people in zanzibar are so that’s not a big problem

The cleaning staff, waiters and management offered us an outstanding service and and incredibly stay. We got an free upgrade to a sea view room, which where always clean and nothing to complain about. The beach let’s you feel like in paradise and the pool area was clean and beautiful as well. The best thing was the service of the staff which exceeded our expectations by far. On our last night we got surprised with a romantic dinner, prepared by the staff team. This was the best accommodation I’ve ever visited in my life - and I’ve been to a lot of places!

Loved the staff! All of them were so lovely, friendly, accommodating and fun.
The resort looked better in real life than in the pictures, really cute!
Wake up early to watch the sunrise!
Food was really delicious 😋
There could be more activities for non romantic visitors.

The staff was amazing, the food was good, the rooms and hotel are very nice.
There was not much to to do at the hotel or around, very quiet place away from the hustle. The beach is not good for swimming.

Great hotel, the rooms located in front of the sea are amazing, you can see the sea and jump directly to the sand.
Staff in the hotel is really kind, also it was my birthday and they had some really nice details in the room and singing with the cake.
Pool is nice when the tide is low and you still want to swim.
Location is really amazing, perfect for disconnect from everything.
Nothing to remark, maybe add more cheese to breakfast :p
Also, include somehow the card payment no commission in the final price, it is smt that I have seen only in Zanzibar in general, not rest of the country and looks weird to ask for an extra.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of our vacation in Tanzania and we were speechless about the great service! The hotel itself is absolutely great and located in one of the most beautiful areas of Zanzibar, but most remarkable was how every wish we had was fulfilled. As vegans, we usually don't find many food options, but here the chef would make any dish we wanted vegan, from gnocchi to lasagna, and even local green banana curry. Once my dress got a bit wet during the serving, immediately they offered to clean it without me even asking, and they even came back to ask if the ironing was satisfactory (which oh yes, it was). They shared interesting stories about the country (and the local spirit konyagi) and we felt absolutely at home. Thank you Joshua, Elisa, Joyce, Baraka, Thomas and all the other service angels we didn't meet when they were preparing wonderful dishes, cocktails, etc. You are the best and we are so grateful for those beautiful moments we had!

The staff allover was extremely friendly, the service staff was excellent, the room was prepared with love and the meals were delicious, thanks to the chef Ramadan and his team.
We enjoyed the hospitality and can highly recommend this place. We stayed at the Pearl Villa for 5 days and had a wonderful time.
Nothing to mention.
