This is definitely a place in paradise. Even though it’s a little bit out of the way, the place make it worth while. The staff go out of their way to give you whatever you want. Wish we stayed longer.

We have been in many great hotels all over the world but this place is one of a kind and exceeds all kind of luxury and comfort. What a rare diamond in the middle of the green where your inner zen gets all the attention. During the rain it is so tranquil and beautiful, the silence and sounds of the nature are simply breathtaking. The pool and the outside are amazing. The hotel itself has a British Colonial look and the interior is absolutely mind-blowing. A phenomenal library to get down by the end of a busy and adventurous day, the interior of the house tells a story and has one of the finest interior architects and designers touch to it. The room was simply a dream...very comfortable bed with a mosquito net and the view simply unbeatable. The bathroom equipped to the finest details and spotless. We absolutely loved our stay there and will certainly come back again.

Everything was perfect from the minute we arrived! I after a very busy 7 days in Sri Lanka we needed a break and some relaxation. From the minute we arrived we were greeted by calmness and serenity. What a wonderful team with exceptional service - one of the nicest hotels I have ever been too!

What an amazing place. This is how I would define a true boutique Hotel. Few rooms, attention to detail, high quality bed & linen, very focused on the customer, top facilities in an amazing spot, great kitchen. In fact I found the place rather inexpensive for what it offered. The Hotel Manager Angelo and his staff are truly incredible and also owner who lives on the property comes out in the morning to have a chat with his customers. Not sure if I have ever given 10 stars but this place has clearly earned them - well done and keep up that quality !!!

The property is beautiful. It’s fancy, done up beautifully and it’s very charming if you like the style. The garden and infinity pool are awesome for some pictures. Food was nice and chef did his best to accommodate.

We had very high expectations due to the high score on booking.com and were very much looking forward to staying here. We’re not normally people to leave negative reviews but we wanted to share our experience with the team so they can work on it. we didn’t think the flame tree estate actually managed to meet our expectations because some simple and basic things were just not done well. The room we were given wasn’t clean (didn’t feel clean) enough (there were at least 7 termites walking around, the bathroom inside windows had clearly not been cleaned for a long time, and there were lots of other small pieces of leaf, dust etc in the corners) on top of that there was no WiFi (which you need for the rainy periods of the day) the manager dealt with this well because we were given another room (thank you!!). To our surprise the rooms did not provide coffee or tea (we were very surprised because even the simplest hotels provide coffee and tea on the rooms + we are in tea country) - I tend to wake up very early and employees aren’t available then yet. Bath towels weren’t clean (big dirty spots and sometimes even had holes in them). Then our room (which we paid real good money for) had a beautiful bath- but after 2 minutes there would be no more hot water. Same counts for the shower obviously- left my wife several times with shampoo in her hair without hot water left. There were quite a few more small things that I’d work on (eg quality of WiFi, comfort and cleanliness of mattresses/ pillows) to maintain the high score on booking.com. It’s an accommodation with a lot of potential but it didn’t provide the luxury (and basics!) we expected for this price in Sri Lanka. There was no way inform the manager about this as we didn’t see him after check in until check out.

Our 2 nights stay at The Flame Tree resort was perfect! Would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking to disconnect and relax. The staff were so attentive, kind and helpful, and the rooms were beautifully decorated - you can tell how much thought and effort has gone into every aspect. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful stay :)

Clean / friendly manager / rich breakfast - this is 1% of that DELIGHT, which did not leave us for a long time after resting here. It's just a DIFFERENT WORLD. This is simply HEAVEN ON EARTH!!! You can't feel Sri Lanka if you don't stay here!!!

Everything! The beautifully restored house, the spacious rooms, awesome bathrooms and the perfectly-sized pool with a splendid view. Wonderful hospitality by David the owner, who came by a few times while we were dining to say hello. We also enjoyed chatting with Herath, who was always attentive and super friendly, as well Nandana and Angelo the manager. We even got to play with David's adorable brood of schnauzers. Food's great too.

Toilets needs to be better maintained - leakage, very dull lighting, water wouldn’t seep out quickly, no toiletries other than shampoo, soap and conditioner.

Everything was perfect. Personel was fantastic. Generally people from Sri Lanka are great people. Rooms are amazing; I have never seen before that kind of rooms. The hotel is in very nice area, in mountains. Dinner and breakfast was fantastic. The owner of that hotel came to us next day to say Hi ;-) Next time for sure I will choose the same hotel !!!

facilities and staff were exceptional - Cannot speak highly enough about either. the hotel has an incredible view from the infinity pool and the rooms are extremely luxurious. All the staff, including the owner, were extremely friendly, helpful and keen to make the stay a relaxing one.

the location is fairly far from Kandy centre and can be secluded if you want to eat somewhere other than the hotel.

We didn’t just like, we actually loved everything. The environment, the house, the yard, the spot of the estate, the staff, the cuisine… everything!

We booked this hotel because of the review and it was not a disappointment at all. We had a great time staying here. The room was very comfortable and huge! Comfortable bed, hot water, big bathroom. The food was amazing and very delicious. We just love everything about this hotel!

The territory of the hotel and view of the jungle and palm trees is so beautiful))) The owner is very friendly and welcoming with his 3 dogs)) Very professional and intelligent staff, big thanks to them. Good food, good wines)) I will recommend for all my friends and would like to return to stay more, because we stayed only for 2 nights. This is story when hotel looks much more better in life than in pictures, definitely!!!

such a beautiful place to be, relaxed, there is nothing you would miss, the staff was so helpful, always friendly, just excellent, the hotels architecture is amazing, every Detail from furniture to cutlery is chosen with love and makes your stay extraordinary. For everyone who enjoys Design, Art and Lifestyle this is the place to be. it is easy to get to Kanda or for hiking. A perfect place to start a tour and come back to recover in a small paradise at the infinity pool for example. Food is very good. We are sorry just to stay one night, next time it will be longer. Last but not least the Schnauzerfamily is so cute…
