I was made to feel welcome when I arrived and offered a coffee and given helpful instructions on where to go in Genoa and what to see. The room was quiet and considering the heat outside bearable even without the air conditioning which is provided.

The hotel is located upstairs, 3rd floor, so when entering the house you have to climb quite some stairs. However, the hotel is very close to the Principe train station and only a few minutes walking from the centro storico and the harbour. I had a nice welcome from the owner. The room was spacious with a table, chair, wardrobe, and kettle. Overall it was very clean. The hotel also has a little open space with tables and automata for refreshments and food. There is no 24h reception but you can enter the premise with a chip. In general, the hotel is a typical Italian albergo so the furniture is not modern but some details like the frescos are original.

--- EDIT: Now that I see the response from the hotel (and checking other reviews) it seems that the owners are not honest. The dryer has multiple duct-tape and it is simply not pleasant and outdated. Due to my job I am in many hotels so I think I can have a perspective on this too. No one told me about the shower and of course I tried both sides and let the water run for a while. I was not even complaining, for one night was ok to shower cold, but I am allowed to tell it, right? The pillow sheet had a hole, if you like it or not but that's a fact. The towels are very worn out and needs to be changed. As pointed out already, and completely fine for me, is the fact that this premise is not modern and maybe there is a Corona backlog for new investments but I have the right to deliver my honest impressions and review. Multiple reviews from other guests also pointed out that privacy is an issue and it is true because it is an old door locking the room. For me it's fine but perhaps other guests are more sensitive. You can take the reviews and critics and work on it or you stay stubborn and argue with the guests. I still can recommend the hotel for a few days considering the points above. Personally, I will not come back. ---- Some facilities in the bathroom needs revision as some towels were just really used (clean though) and the hair dryer needs to be substituted, it is multiply duct-taped and not properly functioning. The shower had only cold water. The bed was not comfortable and the pillow sheet had a hole. For people with noise sensitivity the noises from other guests could be disturbing so I agree with the privacy issues that were mentioned in past reviews. However, as I pointed out, it is a typical albergo in a typical Genovesian house, so you have to adjust your expectations accordingly when visiting the city ;)

For someone with walking problems or travelling with heavy luggage, stepstairs can be a bit tiring.

Quick responses from the staff. Great loction. Both close to the train/bus stations and the city center. Clean and cozy place overall. 10/10 would stay there again for sure.

The wardrobe was incredibly tall and a bit challanging to use. But fun experience ahahha

some pictures on FB suggest that there is breakfast in the hotel itself, but go to Bar Balbi 103 for a perfect breakfast which is only 50m away, the owner is a very nice person.

The owners were always at our disposal, they recommend us beautiful places in Genoa and outside the city and answered us for our all questions. The room was very romantic. The location of the apartment is very close to center of the city and sea port and also in few minutes to railway station in Piazza Principe.

Room was spacious and the ceiling was painted, it was wonderful! Very close to the train station. Easy walk to all of Genova, and really pleasant to walk in the area. The gentleman at the desk was kind, generous, made us feel welcome and gave us great instructions for seeing Genova around. Very traditional stay, someone came in and tidied the room when we were out.

It was fine for us but know that there are a few flights of stairs to enter.

the best staff with considerate service. the ceiling with fresco painting is a charm. really close to the central station.

The building itself is old and the bathroom was not pleasing (still got everything you need ). there was no available breakfast option.

Lack of soundproofing, taking away the feeling of privacy in the room.

Very charming, the property is a historical building. It is found in a good location to visit the city.

The air in my room was stuffy. It was not easy to sleep.

Our host very kindly carried our heavy bag up and down the stairs on arrival and departure on his own, with a spring in his step. Remarkable! Also, fantastic painted ceiling in room.

Guess the absence of a lift could be daunting but all made good by our host.
