The cabins have quite thin walls so was easy to hear the neighbours

Lovely location with surrounding mountains. Room was Ok, generally clean in most areas but bathroom was very mouldy.

We had planned to use the outdoor BBQ facilities but the BBQ was very poorly maintained. It was very dirty with grease and fat.

The location is good and there are pretty views of the mountains from parts of the Park.

Staff were either unfriendly and unhelpful, or young, inexperienced and not very well trained. Our felt like most people we dealt with were doing us a huge favor even answering questions. We have spent 3 weeks traveling around the South Island and this is the most disappointing accomodation we have had. The room was ridiculously tiny especially seeing as this was one of the more expensive locations we stayed in. Wifi ran out after 1 day and even though we were booked in for 2 nights, they were reluctant to give me another day's worth of data. Bathroom did not feel very clean or sanitary. The communal barbecues were dirty. Disappointing all round. I would never stay in a Top 10 again.

The view from outside the room was magnificent

We booked this place almost 7 months ahead and the most annoying thing is that the accommodation charged us the full amount 6 months before we even stayed there! This meant that I had to pay international transaction fee of nearly $60 NZD extra even though when I booked via Booking.com, I said I will pay upon checking out. When this issue was brought up with the owners (just prior to departure), I was given the run around saying it was all due to the previous management and they had been sacked blah blah..... then the current owner goes "would you like the $60 refunded" and I told him politely that it would be a good will gesture if they could do that... to which he bluntly replied "Well you are NOT having it!"..... Why then did he ask that question?!!! So travelers beware! The rooms (there were 4 apartments we booked as a group of 15 of us were travelling around NZ for 20 days) were very hot in the evening as there was no air conditioning! Bathrooms had some mould.

We like to be out of town so that was good.

Sorry, I hate complaining . The place needs a revamp, but I guess we were lucky to find accommodation at the last minute. The lounge was very old and had started to flake black plastic onto our skin and the floor, we had to put a rug on it for comfort. There was no dish cloth and only one tea towel that I had to hang outside to dry, which was not a big problem, just a bit stingy. It was quite hot, so a fan would have been good, couldn't leave the windows or door open for air as the sandflies were bad.

Capped wifi at 1 gb per device and day, not enough for our needs

The shared facilities were very well maintained and thought out. The room was just nice and was as advertised. Internet very quick! There were plenty of power points in the room.

Location is a little out of town.

Sometimes all you need is a comfortable bed. Add to that environmental responsibility.

Microwave needs an upgrade. Second hand will do. Current one could make a great mailbox.

Our room with ensuite and use of a shared kitchen were just what we needed for our 3 night stay at Franz Josef. Good value. We would stay there again.

As it was on the tourist strip it was very good and I would recommend it highly.
