The view, the common areas. The location is a bit of a double edged sword, on the the one hand vidigal is a cool neighborhood, but on the other hand, it is a bit far from everything.

the staff and people were amazing !!! I was a solo traveller during my b day. I got little drunk and they made sure I was always happy and safe. don’t be scared of the favela, the people are nice and nothing like the people trying to steal from tourists in Copacabana!!! I was worried about this before but felt so happy and safe, the tourist parts of rio are different and not natural Brazilian people that I have met for last 5 months

The location was great, especially the view. the bathrooms were big and clean. The common area is awesome.

The lockers were in very poor condition. Some of the staff were helpful but they also played loud music, left the kitchen kind of dirty and were high while working. Some of the staff were just really grumpy and not nice. One day I went out for breakfast and came back to the hostel around 9am. I rang the dooorbell and the girl was sleeping. So she got up to open the door for me and her face was just awful, like she hated me for waking her up. It made me feel unwanted there.

Well, location is amazing. It's walkable down to the main street to catch the public transportation to check out the spotlights of the city. If you feel tired to climb up the hill, you can take a motor taxi at the bottom of the mountain. There are supermarkets close by and you can use the kitchen, plus it's pretty safe, very nice view of the ocean. Staff is polite and the rooms are clean and quiet for sleeping. I highly recommend this experience and stay at this hostel. The favela is well-organized, my guess is that over there, it's safer than the fancy places in Rio.
