It was simply amazing! The accommodation was very unique with a great architecture and interior design. Everything was very clean and the view was stunning!! You can look at the stars, the coast, the pool is good for cooling down —- BUT THE BEST is / was our Host Ana. She was such a lovely person and we felt comfortable from the first second. It was our honeymoon and she prepared a bottle of champagne, chocolate, flowers and a good wine for us. That was amazing. She also was available via WhatsApp when we had questions about what to do on the island and it was very pleasant to just have a good conversation after the breakfast. She is a real multi talent and served self made things with the breakfast, that tasted really really good. The breakfast itself was perfect too! Also every advise Ana gave us (restaurants, viewpoint etc) were a perfect match. If you read this rating don’t hesitate and book that accommodation! You definitely won’t regret!

Ana, our host was wonderful and very responsive. She checked in to make sure we were comfortable and also shared some interesting insight and stories about loving on the island. We loved the location and the room.
It was very hot in the room. They provided a fan which helped but it was tough to get a good nights sleep. Otherwise loved it!

Casas de Incensos are very special place in a lovely area. Very friendly and warm welcome by the host Ana, who is extremely kind and helpful. Nice breakfast. Houses are very clean.

- nice 2 floors renovated stone house with sea view
- calm and secluded but not too remote (15m to restaurants, whales tour, etc)
- host ana was always available, keen to help, and very hospitable ( same for other persons working in the property)
- breakfast with tasty local products ( perhaps also fruits?)
- wifi reliable and quick
- there is a pool
nothing was bad.. perhaps creaking parquet if someone wants to sleep, and sometimes risk of having to manoeuvre if 2 cars want to pass at the same time on the narrow road ( but quite common in small towns in portugal).

Casa de Incensos was amazing! So so so happy we stayed here versus a touristy spot in Madalena. Ana is the best. She went out of her way to make sure we had the perfect stay - calling cab drivers, arranging a super early breakfast one day and late breakfast the other day, and everything in between. This place is a little slice of heaven that feels very authentic to Pico. Could not recommend more!

The ocean and coastline view from the pool and breakfast deck is amazing. The cottages are extremely stylishly done out and Ana was a very friendly host. The location is quiet and beautiful and near a lovely ocean swimming pool. The complimentary bottle of local wine was a generous touch.
There were some impractical points, like a very small room fridge and a long walk with stairs from the carpark with luggage, if these things matter to you.

These houses are perfect for those who look for a peaceful place to rest right in the middle of nature.
* The staff is very nice and the owner, Sr. Carlos deserves a special mention for all attention he gave us.
* Have a breakfast outside in the balcony is a great way to start the day.
* Doesn't have TV. For many people can be a downside but I think is positive disconnect for a while from the world.
Beside the lizards that were around messing my wife, there's not that much to add. :)

First of all this accomodation and Carlos the host are amazing!!
When we arrived we first had to cross a bumpy road and thought we took a wrong turn. But when we finally arrived at the casas de incensos we saw the amazing view and the beautiful garden and houses! Its right in between walls of green and flowers, and you can see the ocean meet the horizon.
We loved our home, it was very cozy and very nicely decorated. We loved the breakfast! Nice azorean cheeses, home made jam, all kinds of bread, awesome warm waffles and a lot more.
During our stay Carlos was amazing. Every morning he would say hello during the breakfast and ask if we had any plans. He had so many tips and advices about the island and would even make reservations at great restaurants for us. He is very funny and has interesting stories about the island!

The swimming pool was out of order during the entire stay because of algal and microbe contamination - we accept the apologies but a refund would be a nice gesture, also as I‘m sure many visitors choose this place because of the nice pool. We decided to leave earlier than planned because of the lack of the pool. The bedrooms are very humid (so is the climate anyways), and the bed very hard. Notably, the place is remote from main touristic attractions, and it is difficult to organize taxis - rental cars are impossible to get in the high season in Pico without reservation months in advance. A rental car is mandatory for this property.

Our hosts Carlos and Anna were amazing, they made us feel so welcome and were very helpful in answering any travel questions we had or offering advice. The little beach area a five minute drive away was perfect at the end of each day for a refreshing swim in the sea. The facilities were spotlessly clean. The location was great for travelling round the whole island. Also, Carlos recommended some lovely local restaurants for dinner and even made our reservations for us. Carlos also phoned the Pico Mountain hut for us to check on weather conditions etc. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is tucked away down a quiet lane, which was something we loved about it and found really peaceful.

Everything is in the details and nothing was missed at Casa de Incenso. From room cleaning to breakfast and the amazing location, everything was perfect. Carlos is the dream host, he's friendly, available and gave us the best restaurant recommendations (we're picky with food and Pico is a small place). If you want to get away from your every day life and find nature in maximum comfort, this is your kind of place.
