The beach is amazingly beautiful, but not always good for swimming because of stones and waves.

BEAUTIFUL, very spacious room! Probably the best we've stayed in Sri-lanka. Helpful staff Their Sri-lankan dinner IS truly amazing! The place itself didn't have many guests, so we enjoyed solitude to the fullest.

The stay at R Degrees, is one in a lifetime! We have had an unforgettable stay, and the staff really do everything to make the stay a perfect holiday! Clean room, clean swimming pool, always pool towels fresh and clean. Private beautiful sandy beach, kind of sheltered so we was swimming alot in the sea also. Very good breakfast and dinner. The perfect staff! The perfect place to relax.

The staff were excellent attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed , the hotel was very clean at all times , and if you want to relax with a beautiful view of the Indian ocean with excellent sea food and the friendliest people r degrees is definitely the place . We spent two weeks at r degrees and was a brilliant base to go explore sri lanka, the management organised a scooter for me to get down to galle area in the morning to get a dawn surf and even extended breakfast so I could get back and still have some. They organise some brilliant excursions to the safari's, lion rock ,swimming with whale sharks , trips to the elephant sanctuary, and all at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend r degrees if you want to relax and Enjoy the beautiful beach where you can sometimes see sea turtles swimming past and if your up early enough you can watch the tradition fishing boats come ashore through pounding surf. This was an amazing sanctuary for me at the end of the active days I was there. You can hear the sound of the waves crashing at night which was the perfect white nose to put me to sleep :) There was this one time when I could not get hold of anyone via the landline, however, the staff was super friendly and very responsive once you get hold of them. The manager was very accommodating and everybody was attentive with a big smile. The hotel is within walking distance of many local stores (restaurants and pharmacies) and also close to the bus and train stations.

I would suggest including an English and American breakfast as the outdoor breakfast seating area is a great start for the day. It would also be good to keep someone in the tanning area (below the pool) to attend to guests' requests (beverages and snacks.. etc).

We travelled as a family of 12 and stayed at this hotel over Christmas and new year. What a wonderful experience. All rooms are very spacious and exceptionally clean with each room having a sea view. Fantastic. Pool & garden area just beautiful. Beach front which was amazing with plenty of sunbeds and lovely towels for everyone at any time of day. The best thing of all, was the staff. Just wow. They could not do enough for all of us to make our stay extra special. Whatever we asked for they did their best to make sure everything was in place. Even the chefs asked daily if there was anything we would like them to cook for us for our evening meal. The lady in the spa was just so lovely and the treatments were great. The whole experience was amazing. Thank you to each and everyone of you for making our family holiday so wonderful.

I believe I was the only person staying at the property. When I came downstairs around 10pm, the lobby was completely dark, no staff was present, and I was locked in. It took almost an hour to find someone to let me out. I left shortly after.

Located on a stunning beach. Huge room, bathroom & balcony with a comfy bed and a great shower. The room was well equipped. The Manager who checked us in (and out) was very friendly & efficient. Staff are also friendly & helpful. The food at this hotel is good. Their kottu roti was very good and I had it several times during our stay :) The grounds are beautiful and so well cared for by the fantastic gardener. Lots of Kingfishers to watch as you relax by the pool.

Staff although always polite & helpful sometimes slow. Sun loungers could do with some attention as several were broken. Some music at dinner time would be nice. They played music at lunchtime so seemed strange there wasn't anything in the evening.

Some rooms are quite noisy. You hear a lot of noise from the busy road They could place some bins in the garden or around the pool for empty water bottles etc. Staff could come and check if people would like to order some food or more drinks when they are at the beds near the beach. Unfortunately no cappuccino was served. Would have expected it in such a hotel.

The manager was really flexible in arrival time, room choice (we could decide from 2 rooms which we wanted), checkout. The staff was also really helpful and you can see that they are trained well to serve people from all cultures. And the food was good. We could also mention our special wishes for dinner or breakfast to the chef. The bed was the best of our complete holiday and we had a view on the sea from our shower. Also, go for a massage, it is really good here. We had a great stay, thanks. 1 tip: Staff could ask customers more for food and drinks when they are at the beach beds. Or just have someone around which we can request drinks from. I recognize this also in other restaurants/hotels in Sri Lanka. Or maybe because it was not that busy due to corona.

Lovely hotel in a quiet area, away from the more touristy Hikkaduwa and Bentota. But still within walking distance of a small town and beach bar. The hotel manager was very thoughtful and offered a room upgrade free of charge, as the hotel was a little quiet. Very kind gesture. The room and hotel grounds were clean and actively being worked on to be improved. The hotel was a little tired in places, but this is likely due to the covid situation. Not an issue at all. For the most part, the food was delicious and came in large portions. The Sri Lankan cuisine was the best, attempts at Western dishes were still nice, but just not as good as local food! We would appreciate more choice in our food, but understand due to covid this was difficult Alcohol is not served at the hotel, which was a little annoying, but can be purchased a 10 minute walk away. Overall, this is a good value and peaceful place to stay for a few days. If you're after a quiet place to read a book or swim this is great. If you're after nightlife and restaurants I would suggest Hikkaduwa.

Sri Lankan food was delicious, western dishes need some work (or remove them from menu, we love Sri Lankan food!) The gym was tired and equipment very limited. I would remove it or improve it for the sake of setting incorrect expectations with guests. Staff should be more confident in asking whether guests would like additional drinks, snacks or any other assistance during their stay. It would improve guests' experience and make the hotel more money. Water was not included in the full board we had, a little disappointing.

Everything was good! We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. Staff is very helpful, location is amazing. Food was good.

The room was enormous, probably the largest in any hotel I've stayed in. Spa treatment was excellent. Staff was extremely helpful and proactive. Aircon worked very well. Friendly, intimate feel to the place. The management and staff tried to meet all our requests sincerely. Food was well presented and did not cause any stomach issues. The masseuse at the spa was excellent, though the room itself could be better. All Covid protocols are being followed.

There was a problem with some termite infestation in our suite # 103. Management has promised to look into it. Room cleaning could have been better. Breakfast was the same every day. We were not even told that we could get a pre-ordered Sri Lankan breakfast. Other dishes, though well presented, were quite overcooked -- especially, the meats and fish. No eating places within walking distance. Tuk tuk rides were comparatively very expensive. Though the rooms are huge, the common areas, like poolside and garden are quite small and would get very crowded if the hotel was full.

Perfect combination of beach direct access, nice pool and garden for the kids to explore safely. Nice restaurant too. Perfect for a quick escape from Colombo.

Both me & my husband Stuart loved our stay at R Degrees. A small but perfectly formed boutique hotel. Everyone was very helpful and provided great service. We requested a room with a bath tub when we booked and we were surprised when we were told we had been upgraded to a suite, with amazing view over the ocean. Thank you Yohan and all the staff for looking after us.
