The location and chance to stay in a beautiful old monastery cannot be beaten. Staff were efficient and friendly and our pooch was made to feel welcome — a rarity in Portugal

The restaurant should stick to Portuguese classics rather than Italian, or at least avail themselves of a youtube tutorial on how to cook/serve pasta. You can call it ‘esparguete’ or ‘massa’, but pasta it always is. There is no excuse for spaghetti alla carbonara with cream in 2023!

The staff was outstanding in courtesy, attention to the client well beyond the line of duty. Remarkable! Breakfast was very good. The room had some space limitations but, other than that, it was quite satisfactory. The surroundings in the estate are wonderful with woods and varied vegetation.

Believe it or not, there's nothing one could point out as unsatisfactory.

Our room was atmospheric and comfortable, overlooking the garden and simply, but tastefully, furnished. It was just steps to the beautiful public spaces of the hotel. A shared veranda with a fountain and tiled walls was perfect for watching the sun set.

Our dinner in the restaurant was good, but not exceptional. Portuguese wines, always delicious, were overpriced.

The territory of the hotel is amazing!! Totally worth to walk around. The hotel itself is like a museum too) The personnel speaks English (that is rare in Portugal) and very polite. The bar with fireplace at cool night is very cozy and quiet. In the room we found chocolates, some fruit and flowers - so many nice surprises)) We could see the whole city from above from our room window on the 5th floor - amazing view! I absolutely loved the hotel)

The breakfast was very basic in terms of variety of food. Could have been more fresh/cooked vegetables and fruit. And I expected to see the coffee machine, not the instant coffee made in the thermos. But the waitress brought us espresso when we asked for.

Enormous ancient monastery with beautiful modern upgrades. A world class facility. Staff were very well informed and gracious. Food was gourmet quality.

Some parts of the complex were cool because it’s January and it’s a stone building.

Absolutely wonderful historic place, beautiful garden, comfortable apartments, delicious dining, cozy atmosphere, cool bar with fireplace, very supportive staff.

Specific lighting in the apartment - when light is on in the bathroom it’s seen from the room so is very inconvenient during the night or morning.

The hotel is in a beautiful building that has been beautifully preserved. The rooms were comfortable as were all the public areas. Plenty of parking and great for a quiet relaxing break. Good breakfast.

The staff were polite and curtious but there just wasn't enough staff so you ended up waiting around, for a long time..... Waiting for the reception, waiting for the bar.... waiting for treatments.... The evening meal in the restaurant was poor for the standard of hotel and price.
