The staff.

Booked 2 rooms with double beds. Got 2 rooms with single king beds. Was not happy about that. We made it work.

I like where we stayed. it was centralized

The fact that we could only make two reservations to eat at the restaurants was the biggest downfall.

The setting is beautiful, the staff is kind and helpful, the grounds are immaculately maintained, and there are many fun activities to take advantage of!

We would like some monitoring of the hallways at night due to noisy people disturbing our sleeping.

My stay at Barceló was exceptional. I read the comments before going, and I can say that they exceeded my expectations. -Beach: It was great. It had white sand and not a lot of waves. It is excellent if you go with children or want to chill out. The palm trees are plentiful and protect you from the sun. The beach has a part filled with rocks where a lot of fish swim by, so it is perfect for snorkelling. -Room: Very comfortable, the room's temperature was great, and the cleaning of the room was always on point. I appreciate the detail of the bath rope and shoes. -Food: Everything I ate at the buffet was perfect, and the Spanish night there was also very good. The food was exquisite, and the service in Santa Fe was excellent. I had the opportunity to visit Capri and Santa Fe restaurants, which were terrific. -Activities: The all-inclusive package offers a lot. The non-motorized water sports are included in the package. My husband and I did some kayaking and paddle boarding; it was great. The night shows were well-produced and entertaining; they were very professional. -Installations: I enjoyed the Jaguar Disco and walking at Plaza Mexicana and the mall. All installations are very well-designed and maintained. -Service: I think this one is significant. My plane arrived early, and even though the check-in was not until 3:30 pm I could check in at noon. I left my bags at the reception and started enjoying the hotel. Similarly, as my plane departed very late, I did the check-out at 11:00 am, but they gave me a pass until 4:30 pm to keep accessing all the installations, food and drinks. I appreciate the extra showers and changing room. They were spotless and easy to use, and they included towels. I think this is excellent, as you can enjoy the beach and pool after checking out.

There are just a few things that I think could be improved: -Desserts: I found the desserts were not as good as the food. Some of them were pretty good, but others needed more work. -Service at jaguar disco: as it was very crowded, asking for a drink took a lot of time. I think more bartenders would improve the experience. -Beach chairs: it was difficult to find empty ones; additional seats would also improve the experience.

The facilities were amazing! The staff outside of the premier area were so helpful. The hotel was beautiful, the food. The pools and swim up bars a blast.

The premier receptionist was not helpful at all. She just processed the paperwork and that was all. We asked about dinner reservations for any of the restaurants and she told my e all booked, sorry we can't help. We paid for the experience for nothing. At this point we will not recommend.

Beautiful, well kept campus. Pools were clean and beach was well kept.

Airport shuttle that was ordered through the colonial resort dropped us off at the palace resort instead. Spent an extra 30mn finding out we were at the wrong location and had to wait for the shuttle bus while hungry and exhausted. Check in left us with minimal info about their resort and that we can only stay in the colonial area, according to all the bartenders and staff who were continually rude about letting us know we didn't belong. They only have 3 kayaks for rent for thousands of people and not enough beach chairs. You have to be on the beach by 7am or you're out of luck. Food was horrible at the buffet and in the restaurants.

The rooms had black mold and strong mold smell. We could not pick our restaurant of choice for dinner since they were already all booked weeks in advance. We were stuck with the buffet all week.

We booked 2 rooms for 5 people, and when we got there they said we booked for only 3 people and wanted us to pay an additional amount that costs over the original amount for 3 people!!! Rip off!!! And the reception lady did not know we spoke english and she was laughing about us having to paying more to her manager!

venue and resort is simply beautiful

Barcelo did not honor the booking.com price and reservation. They double charged me, currently disputing charge. Scam!

We did have a great time at the Barselo Colonial. The property is enormous and you have to walk a lot but for us it was positive as my kids love that they have so many activities. The property was clean and well maintained. The resort was full but we did not feel it (only at the breakfast). The beach was very long and pretty big. There are a lot of additional activities that you have to pay money to do. Food was good, however, we were not impressed with the ala carte restaurants.

The beach had a lot of seaweeds. They tried to clean it but mostly of the times we cannot go in the evenning and just enjoy the ocean, as the beach was covered. The room was not impressive. Definetly required an update. The selection of restaurants was very limited. We were able to eat at two restaurants as other were booked. I was not impressed by the food at all.
