pictures & description show one side, being there is another. Kitchen is meant to be used (double everything) no place to store items, needs a pantry. 1 of the fridgs is either too cold or warm, stove fans have no filters, smoke just rolls out, not hot pads provided to protect laminate tops. tile shower has no shelves, have to put personal items on floor, house needs a deep cleaning, duct tape used to fix broken floor tiles. Roaches on first floor, pool deck coming unattached (watch your step) no place to put umbrellas around very hot pool deck, other decks are a hazard (old & rotting), handrails are unsafe to put hands on (6 of the guest got spinsters). Layout good, location great, clean poor, parking great. For the money spent expectations were not met.

Our mini family reunion of 11 really enjoyed our stay. There were a few problems that were addressed to our satisfaction. The location and amenities (pool/hot tub) were first rate. However,the dishwashers were not up to speed leaving mounds of water to wipe up when unloading. The kitchen was well stocked. The trash pick up and check out time directions contradicted themselves but we figured it out. I would stay here again!

Loved the Elevator. Helped out with people who weren’t able to climb stairs. And the big kitchen for all of us with 2 frigs and stove.The AC Upstairs took until middle of week to get fixed it was soooo Hot. But finally came 3 rd time to fix the main issue. Showers in some of bedrooms were small and slippery hard to get in and some just a tub no shower. But we worked it out.Saw a roach on middle floor turned us off a little might need a good cleaning and spray down the crawlers. Beds were hard as a rock would recommend little foam mattress on them . Over all pretty house and spacious. Pool was great and hot tub. Stairs to beach is rough if have handicapped people not able to get out. But saw Dolphins every morning from top Deck. Furniture could be replaced has stains on it. And recommend a nice recliner for people who can’t sleep in the beds. There was none. Or a chair especially in the bedrooms nowhere to sit down. Overall it was nice for our big group with a few problems.Thank you!

This property has a wonderful outdoor space. It is dog friendly and has a dog play area. The pool and hot tub space are great. Easy access to beach makes morning walks easy.

House is in a perfect location. Great beach access and bar/restaurant across the street. Easy keyless access, worked great. Elevator was easy to use and in perfect condition. Plenty of beds/rooms for everyone in our group, and each had en-suit bathrooms which was great! Living room/kitchen area were spacious, plenty of seating, plenty of counter space- and two full size fridges was a bonus! The pool was heated and private, and the hot tub was great (not as pictured through, the hot tub does not have a little canopy over it ). Our family was in the pool every day of this trip- was perfect. I do have to say, the house was not cleaned thoroughly. Kitchen counters were sticky, crumbs from old guests on the dining room rug, one of the ovens was really dirty and we didn’t use in case of starting a fire- as well as random socks hanging on the railing to the beach and under furniture in the house. Outdoor kitchen area was not cleaned at all including a trash can still full from the last guests. The area was recently hit with hurricane storms- so this is unlikely to be a recurring problem, however, for our stay- The basement smelled badly of mold and was damp, including the basement bedrooms. Despite those hiccups, our family did have a nice vacation here.

Location is great. The house needs a thorough cleaning especially under the couches. Furniture, plumbing fixtures need replacement. Areas of the floor tile, on first floor, are covered with duct tape. The house needs updating. It's obvious no effort has been made to upkeep the house.

The home was big with enough space for everyone. I was very disappointed that there were no pool toys or beach toys. Also there were no spices to cook with, not even salt or pepper. Also there was a roach in the master bedroom on the mail floor and another big roach in the master bathroom on the main floor.

Great location and great layout of the house. Only issue we had is that we received a text saying the house was ready at 5:30pm. Upon arrival the cleaners were still there working. We had to wait another 45 minutes to an hour to unload our cars.

Very nice house. It was very clean and had many amenities. The week was cool for June but we had paid for the pool to be heated and it was a perfect temperature. My only complaint would be that some of the tvs on the 1st and 2nd floor didn't work. Overall a great house and a wonderful vacation.

It was the 4th time staying at the Good Life. Love the location and the house! We were a party of 13 and the dogs and had a wonderful time! Kitchen is well stocked! It was too cool too use the pool this time, but the hot tub was really nice! Would recommend the Good Life! We went on the Wild Horse Adventure tour, and saw lots of horses and two babies. Went on the Magic Bus and saw 8 bears! Went to Dirty Dicks and Jolly Rogers for dinner! Can't wait to stay here again in the future!

We were the first of our party to arrive and we delighted to discover no one still cleaning up at 4 pm and the combination sent us by Beach Realty opened the door right up. The elevator got us and luggage upstairs and we settled in on the top floor which offers a wonderful view of the ocean, dunes, a local pier and a huge vista of sky. Lots of windows and lots of porch and deck space with plenty of chairs. The living area provides seating for even large groups (we had only seven people). The kitchen is well equipped, with two refrigerators, two stoves, two microwaves and even an air fryer. Rooms were comfortable and beds were just firm enough for a great night’s sleep. All had bath, shower or a combination. The game/recreation area on the lower floor offered pool, fussball, tv and dvd viewing. Also another refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. Swimming pool was already warmed. Everyone in our group commented on how comfortable the home was. House was clean and the Wi-Fi worked well. While we like trying different places, this would be a home we’d recommend and would happily return to.Was there a downside? We are all wine drinkers and found the plastic wine glasses deprived us of some of the pleasure of drinking a good bottle. Some of the sliding doors were very difficult to open and would benefit from lubrication. We didn’t watch tv but would have appreciated regular cable or satellite service instead of ROKU on all sets. HINT: If you’re a tv watcher, bring your Prime and Yahoo passwords.

First trip out of 13 to the OBX in the off-season. Many, many emails and texts from the management company on details of checkin/checkout. Did not respond to texts, but did answer when called. Though the home was discounted for the offfseason, I hoped the home would have been a little better maintained.

At first, we thought the house was just “tired” since it was the end of the season. Then, as we unloaded and unpacked, we realized it wasn’t clean - and parts hadn’t been cleaned for weeks (like handrails). The sheets had not been changed and had hair and stains. There were about 8 real glasses and all the rest were cheap plastic- even the wineglasses! The pool was dirty and I don’t think it was cleaned while we were there. Called the propert company the first day about cleaning and sheets and was told owner used a private company. Won’t rent this house or any other with the same owner again.

The property had lots of space to spread out and everyone had own bedrooms with private baths. Kitchen had plenty of space as well as all necessities for cooking meals. Furnishings were dated and showed much wear although functionally adequate. Pool area was adequate but also showed lack of maintenance.

This was our 3rd time staying at the Good Life! A few little things that we noticed, the Pool Table couldn't be used, as a couple of the pockets were not there. The foosball table wasn't usable, because one the rods wasn't working correctly. It hasn't been usable on any of our stays. Because the beds are high in some of rooms, one of our party, was hoping they would put a chair in the room. Also, no way to control the speed of the fan in one the 2nd level bedrooms. All and all, it was a wonderful time at the Good Life. Upon checking into the house, we were able to meet the house Owner. She is very pleasant, and really liked our Shelties! My favorite house in OBX!

The house is beautiful with a great lay out where you have huge bedrooms with the pool and hot tub easily accessible. All beds were comfortable with sheets and towels provided. We chatted and compared next door locations with neighbors as the houses were all owned/operated by same entity.. I would say this house needs a little freshening up, like lots of burned out light bulbs, very dusty ceiling fan blades/air vent grates and some green algae near some pool fountain areas. Again a beautiful home, just looks like it needs a thorough cleaning, a paint job and some general up date to the decking (warped boards or green algae). Nit picky maybe but for the quality the home has and the price we paid its a shame if the house misses the tlc. We did call w a breaker issue and was fixed next day- nice service. Nags head pier not very friendly at all

We have rented houses in Duck, Southern shores, and Nags head for the last 20 years, about 15 times. In the past 10 years we have rented large houses for FAMILY reunions with always more than 15 guest, and paid on average $12-15K USD.When you pay this amount of money for a 1 WEEK rental, we have come to grow to expect really a very TOP quality rental. From wear, tear, quality, cleanliness, and extras.This is the first year we do NOT feel that this expectations was met for the money paid. or experience was "OK' but not GREAT. That said, we thought we would take the time to share with you our opinion of this property, which we have NEVER felt need to do in the past 20 years after ANY stay we had, nor did we feel need to have to provide this.However, we felt as our price point has grown with size of our family so compelled by some our findings that we thought it important to share this detail and we did in writing to the rental company listing because this was was our collective feeling after this stay. Last detail, We were told that this owner also has like 6 other properties, and its a business for them, not a homeowner of one unit only... not sure...if so, even more reason to pay attention...cheers, and safe travels.

This house was beautiful and we had a great stay. We had just a couple of issues. One of the bathroom doors was locked when we arrived, there were no useable pots of pans (all were rusty), one of the dishwashers did not work and one of the refrigerators was leaking water on the floor. This property is in an excellent location. The beach and the pool are great! Our experience in the house itself, however, was awful. There were layers of dust all throughout the house, broken (dangerous) railings on the 3rd floor and hot tub decks, cigarette butts and litter on the ground floor exterior, ants in the kitchen, several TV's did not work and were not fixed despite multiple online work requests, light switches were not labeled and half didn't do anything, artificial flower arrangements were so coated in filth that we had to remove them from rooms, ripped/torn/dirty bedspreads that were severely stained and the sheets were stained as well. It was a shame that the house was so awful because it has a tremendous amount of potential. I would not recommend this house unless you know for sure it has been completely and thoroughly cleaned from top to bottom.

First and important piece of info to share with future potential renters is that the house is across the street from a BAR. My family had scheduled a winter getaway for some solace at the ocean and were surprised to find the home was located next to a bar. Not a big deal at first as the bar was not due to open until 11 days into our 15 day stay. But when it did open, all the expected concerns raised their ugly heads - open thru 2AM; after 9 or 10PM, lots of noise (yelling, fighting, etc). So, if you are traveling with babies, small children, pets that bark at loud noises, then BEWARE! We would never have rented this home if we knew the location. If you enjoy cooking or entertaining this is NOT the home for you. The kitchen is POORLY outfitted and some of the appliances are old and poor quality. Only 2 hangers in each of the 8 bdrm closets. Poor customer service and follow-up with Beach Realty for request for an additional day at the home and late arrival for gas for the fireplace during a winter stay. In summary, even with the all the disappointments we had with the house, my family had an enjoyable stay at the ocean and love our time on the Outerbanks. Would we use Beach Realty again - not a chance.

Beautiful home and nice location. For a home that sleeps 22 it doesn't have seating for 22 at meal times. The one refrigerator doesn't have but one shelf so it almost useless. One of the dishwashers didn't have a silverware holder and didn't wash dishes the best so only used one, and with 19 people eating 3 plus times a times a day it's an inconvenience. The kitchen utensils, pots and pans were not of good quality and not enough of. I understand with a rental you don't use the best but many pans were warped and didn't function well on the flat stove service.

This rental property had many maintenance issues, torn screen on porch, pool filter not working properly, jets on hot tub not functioning properly,a live roach was found on the 3rd floor, no battery in smoke detector,dog hair in the bath tub, and several people got splinters from deck. We rented this house for two weeks to hold our friends and our family for our Nags Head wedding. The condition of the house was terrible. There was sand all over the windows and hot tub was not working well. Also, the furniture is outdated and in need of repairs. The sofa corner had a piece of metal sticking out that actually cut one of our family members. The worst part was the first night when we discovered a mouse in the house. There were also mouse droppings on the top floor bedroom sheet. Horrible. We wanted the house rental to be an annual trip, but there is no way we are going back there. Shame on the owners for not keeping up with the house.

For over 25 years I have been coming to the Outer Banks and I honestly believe that this was the nicest property that we have ever stayed in. Beach Reality was a joy to deal with and The Good Life rental lived up to its name. The interior is beautifully decorated and the numerous amenities, (pool, hot tub, and game room) kept everyone busy. Our group of 18 (ages 2-70) stayed in this beautiful home last week. It was fabulous. Location could not be better and the beach was great. The house is very large and all of the beds extremely comfortable. So nice that every bedroom has it's own bathroom. The kitchen is the most well stocked we've seen. The two refrigerators, sinks, ovens, and dishwashers really came in handy. Lots to do within walking distance. The pier restaurant is a must, as is the pizza from the Lucky 12 right across the street. Only a few small maintenance issues which were quickly resolved. I can't say enough about this great property!

Everything was great. Couple of comments for constructive feedback. The pool hadn't been vacuumed prior to our arrival and the chlorine disks were gone by Thursday evening. I went to a local pool supply and bought two disks to avoid guests getting sick since it wouldn't be serviced till after we left. TV's were small and outdated for the various rooms.

We very much enjoyed our stay at La Buena Vida. There were a few minor issues - the ping pong table was broken, but still usable and there were a few deck boards that probably need to be replaced. Overall my family and I were very pleased with the house which was spotless when we arrived. We also appreciated the quick response to our maintenance requests.

We packed up our "offices" and headed to OBX for a much needed change of scenery. This place was on sale or we would have not rented it because of the size (it's only my husband and myself + our dogs). But it has a great layout- the elevator is spectacular for loading groceries and for senior dogs.
The home does have carpet in the bedrooms and the stairs but it was in pretty good shape and smelled great. I have allergies to carpet and this did not bother me the entire time we were there. The kitchen is worn out-- the fridge makes very weird LOUD sounds and I expected it to go out anytime. Not a ton of kitchen equipment for the size but it's sufficient.
I do wish these places have more desk spaces or some sort of "home office" as most people work from home these days. But we loved all the different tables upstairs to set out computers on. The wifi was great except in the basement.
Perfect side yard for the dogs that connect to all levels of the back of the home. There is another small yard that is connected to the other house next door but it does have a gate on your side as well. I found that odd for privacy and safety if you didn't know the other people staying there they could have access to your yard. We didn't have any issues tho. The front door & bottom doors do not have gates & all lead out to the main road (which can get busy).
The pool wasn't open when we were there but the waterfall feature was on and AMAZING. The hot tub is great but it's out in the open and right next door to your neighbors (luckily no one was there so it was private).
The bar across the street has overflow parking next door and that can be somewhat loud at all hours of the night and lots of people walking in between the shrubs and lack of lights on the side so when going out at night it can be somewhat scary. Overall no issues but extra exterior lights on that side and on the side of the pool with the dog yard would be great.
