Great location for the wild life, no fences around camp.
Internet terrible and only works in main eating area (not in rooms) and intermittent phone signal.
No electric in rooms (lights on battery which work well) - not going here for modern hotel room to be fair but a kettle to make coffee for example would have been nice. A balance I guess for the green credentials of the site.

We had a fantastic stay within Buffleshoek. There are 5 tents located in the camp without any fence. During the night an elephant was one meter away from our tent and on the way to the main tent we saw a hyena less then 2meters away. This was an unforgettable experience and made us feel very close to nature. Everyday we had two game drives one in the morning and one in the evening. We had a great guide who was spotting a lot of animals and after 2 game drives we already had the big 5 together. The local staff is very nice and friendly and prepared very delicious food. The hosts were very welcoming, super fun, and very helpful and helped us with our travel plans.
We can highly recommend this accomodation. You will have a unique close to nature kind of experience!

Buffelshoek is an unfenced rustic camps that offers all amenities such as plugs in the main hut, hot water, mosquito nets, and wifi. Huts are literally in the bush and give you and fabulous view of the savanna. Each hut comes with a patio that you can use for exercising. Part of the package are drive games by knowledgeable field guides.
The couple that runs the camp and its staff are lovely and helpful.

the guide was amazing finding all animals, the food was good, i met lovley animals and a hyena in the camp, staff is friendly, they took good care about my food allergies, so, i felt safe ;) . other lodges forgot about it. so, this one takes good care of you. i saw lions, lepard, rhino, buffalo, elephant very close. on the way to the camp, i saw Kudus and a baby Kudu. i also saw a baby lion. if you are into animals, thats your place.
will be back for sure. also Lynn is very friendly and lovley. she is open for a chat, but also gives you a lot of privacy. which is perfect.
so, what you know before you book: you book a lovley but simple place in the bush. there s no pool or anything. also wifi is very low, because you are in the middle of the bush. but if you are like me, if you are fine with disconnecting from the world for a few days, here you go.
i also had the feeling that the guide was not so much in the mood to tell a lot about the area or which route we take, but maybe we had a missunderstanding and he is amazing and nice. we will talk more about the area when i am back.
so, the only real negative thing is that the stay came to an end.

the best camp that we was in South Africa. Everything in this camp was more than perfect.

What I expected, off the grid, no fences, great experience. Hosts were excellent, Game driver did an exceptional job finding us game under very trying conditions. Food was good, accommodation was rustic and comfortable.

nothing.

We really enjoyed the safari rides. The food was also very good. All the staff was nice and helpful.
The camps should at least have a small fan because it was really hot inside and you couldn’t sleep.

Safari tours were great, really knowledgeable guide loving his work. The food was good too, home-like and the hosts were very welcoming. They even prepared take-away breakfast package for us and served us lunch even though we arrived late. Really recommend this place for the safari experience.
The place needs a little bit of uplifting; everything works, but during rain, the main camp's roof was leaking, there was no place to hang clothes in the tents.
4.5
The Game drives on its own were worth it. They last about 4h and within two Game drives we have seen the big five. However, it is still about luck since we drove most of the time without seeing anything. Actually, we saw more animals when we were on our own in Krüger, however, when we finally found anything we got much closer.
4.0
The camp has no fence, so the animals could walk at the territory (but unfortunately they didn't, at least during our stay). There is a pond near the camp where animals come to drink, so you can take amazing photos without leaving the camp.
Mosquitos! They should do something about it, we had terrible sleep because of them, nothing helps - no sprays, no nets.
4.5
The accommodation was acceptable and clean. The staff was friendly. Food was good. With game viewing is it always the luck of the draw but we ave seen extra ordinary things.
Didn't see a leopard but that is not due to Buffelshoek's

We had an amazing time at Buffelshoek and wished we could’ve stayed longer. We fell in love with the location right after we arrived - the wonderful views from the terraces and especially from our tent where we spotted buffels and elephants while enjoying a bit of free time.
The game drives with Ronny were incredible, he was a great and very knowledgeable guide.
Last but not least: food was delicious!

The place was what it advertised to be. The food was incredible. I liked that the camp was unfenced since one afternoon we had elephant visitors right at the door of our cabin. Game drives were top notch, hosts atmosphere was everything I wanted.

Amazing!! The tent camp is absolutely great!
great food, lovely people and absolutely fantastic safaris!! We came so close to the animals and have seen all big 5. Fantastic Safari guide! One of my best experiences in SA. I can highly recommend it!

Great lodge in the middle of Manyeleti game reserve. Not a luxury accomodation, but very cozy and it has everything you need. The camp has no fences, so wild animals might stroll around, which makes it extra special. Our guide for the game drives was amazing and funny. We saw 4 of the Big 5 even though the weather was quite bad. The jeep has no roof, which is an advantage compared to other lodges, when it comes to game sighting and safari feeling. The food was delicious too. To sum it up, great camp!
The smell in the tent was a bit weird, maybe because of the lack of infrastructure in this area.

No fences!
Game drives: Fantastic, great sightings of the big 5 plus painted dogs (bonus!) and much more, Bexon is a fabulous driver and highly knowledgeable tracker - thank you for the leopard encounter (picture attached), quite unforgettable.
The people: Dudley and Lynne are great hosts, we enjoyed their stories and warm hospitality - I'm sure I was too demanding before we arrived, asking for cold beer and a fan in our room, thank you for accommodating the requests. :) The staff: In a word, lovely. Thank you for looking after us.
The facilities: Excellent considering the camp runs on solar energy.
The food: Delicious and plentiful - I can confirm our special dietary requirements (meat) were amply met. :)
Nothing - it's exactly what you expect, a beautiful unfenced camp in the heart of the bush!

Hospitality, friendliness, and assistance from owners & staff were exceptional. True Safari experience, not just a glorified "Game drive",
Excellent meals prepared with great skill and care
The facilities are excellent, true tented camp experience, feel part of the "bush".

Our stay at the Buffelshoek tented camp was unforgettable! The hosts are very warm and welcoming and such a delight to talk to. The staff is very caring and thoughtful and our guide during the Safaris gave us a great experience packed with laughs and great info regarding the African bush. As described in other reviews the food was plentiful and very very tasty. The tent itself is comfortable, dry, supplied with a bathroom (so you don't have to leave your tent at night ;-)) and equipped with a good bed. Again we want to thank our hosts for the experience and we would recommend this place to anyone.

Everything about this place is magical! The set up is ideal for those who seek some peace the nature. It's simple, yet comfortable. The food was amazing! The hosts were warm and welcoming and we shared the evening chatting over the fire camp. Big thanks to Backsun our Ranger and Driver to went above and beyond to show us the Big Five. He is extremely knowledgeable, funny and safe driver. Thanks for the wonderful time and the memories we made at Buffelshoek Tented Camp.
Absolutely nothing

Characterful place. No fences, the wild animals roam the grounds at night. Safe, nevertheless.
We will not forget Lynn and Dudley, nor Backsin, the ranger for the game drives. Lynn and Dudley are extraordinary people driven by love for their country, nature, animals, people and their guests, not for money or business.
Only two nights, but in our memories much longer, and unforgettable.
No leopard. :-)

Remoteness, waterhole infront of tent, delicious three course meals, friendly staff, game drives, great communication with owners
