Lucas is a great a host and he can arrange everything as he knows the place well. He planned our trips to the mountains and gave instructions on which trips can be done on the limited time we had. Very kind staff.

The rooms are spacious however be careful which room you book. The exact pictures posted o. The hotel website are not the same as advertised. Could be misleading. The pick up from the railway station was a little pricey.

Whispering mountains is not a hotel, it's a place where the host "Lucas" makes you feel home. Not only that, Lucas is the best guide, he will recommend the best places to visit and will give you some hints that only locals know. He will even drive you to the supermarket and offer you all the support you might ask for. He will entertain you too with billiard and offer you from his special beer.

Conveniently located next to the park's West entrance. Staff was really nice & helpful. Good food and a peaceful environment, perfect getaway from city noise. They have a good selection of beer and wine which is nice to have on the terrace after a long day hiking in the park!

The small hotel is run by an young very nice guy who speaks perfect english and never gets tired to help you! 👍 The hotel is directly located at the west entrance of the national park and from there you can reach every point you want. Shuttle service is also available for an good price. The hotel itself is very new and everything is clean and comfortable. Even the small pool in front was very clean and an good refresh after an long day of hiking 🥾 Don’t worry about the location - you got everything you need within the hotel - even really good food and some refreshing beers 😉

We had a wonderful stay. It was clean and quiet, beautiful views of the mountains. Very easy communication with Lucas who was very welcoming, and arranged drivers/ tours for us. Can easily walk to the West gate of the park. Rooms were spotless and very comfortable beds. We had most breakfasts and evening meals in the hotel, there was a good variety, but worth planning ahead if wanting to eat out as location is fairly rural.

Exceptionally helpful host, Lucas whose english is very good, helped us with tickets, routes, transportation and really made this a very enjoyable stay. Would be a great place for Chinese visitors but for non Chinese speakers this help was invaluable. On top of this the location was great as was the food. Would definitely recommend this hotel

hotel is located in beautiful area of Zhangjiajie, v near to the west gate of forest park. The staff is v helpful in planning our visit of the park. Our room is well maintained, very clean, comfortable bed, good shower, beautiful scenery. We enjoyed our walk near the hotel in the morning.

As we stayed for 4 days, the menu can be improved.

The hotel is placed around 5 - 600 mt from the West entrance of the reservation. It is a rural area, if you want to stay in a city than this hotel is not for you! The rooms are nice, you have everything you need. Our room had a terrace with mountain view but a back side view as well. Lucas at the reception is a grate person! He helped us to understand how we can make the best rout in the shortest time in the reservation. (because our flight was cancelled and we had to live after one day). He organised for us the taxi from the airport - please note that is not easy to find the hotel! Taxi price was 180 yuan. They serve dinner on the hotel terrace. We drank here the best expresso in China (of course made by Lucas!).The hotel has a big offer of vine and beer as well. I gave 9 only thanks to Lucas effort! Thank you Lucas!

Not easy to reach from the airport. Price from and to the airport is 180 yuan x 2. Kitchen is not on the top at all and for what offer is not cheap!

Localization is the must, totally outside of the city it's absolutely silent and in Florest. Finally, but not the least, the onwer and staff (family) are extremely kindness and always prompt to help and support. Meals taste also very good.

Due to the fact that it's very far from the city, there is a lack of options to order service by ownself. In fact, it's not a weakness, but a highlight to realise that it's a place to be disconnected.

Had an absolutely brilliant stay at Whispering Mountain. Lucas, the owner, and his assistants were so kind and helpful. The hotel is so close the the west gate of the park (just 5 minutes walking) and the surrounding area is quiet, peaceful and safe. The valley is very nice to walk up in the evenings. At first, the size of Zhangjiajie makes it seem a little daunting, but Lucas was so helpful in making an itinerary and giving advice so how to get around and where to go. The hotel was clean, modern and comfortable and the food is amazing!!! I am usually sensitive to some foods, but all of the local food was fresh, healthy and tasty. If you want to head to Zhangjiajie, I highly recommend this hotel and guesthouse!!

We stayed in the middle of winter, so the hotel was sometimes a little cold, but the log burner in the common space was a nice touch, and the heating function of the air con in the rooms made it easy to get out of the cold.

Really good place to stay if visiting the west side of the park. Very close proximity to the entrance - about 5 minute walk. Excellent breakfast options - chinese and western as well as a large selection of options for dinner. The hotel is relatively new and has great rooms with excellent views. Rooms are very modern, clean, great facilities and amenities. I've stayed here on two separate trips to Zhangjiajie and will stay here again if I return a third time. There's no better option for hotels on this side of the park.

Beautiful interior decor in the rooms and common areas. Very welcoming reception from the owner Lucas and his dad with helpful travel info for the locale. It is just few minutes walk to the park entrance (west side of Wulingyuan). I have a great view of the mountain range from my room.

No eateries nearby during off-peak tourist season but not a problem because you can order in advance from a menu in the hotel and the ingredients are of the day, fresh and organic

Everything, Lucas goes out of his way to help with everything. Arranging testing, helping with tickets and all things related to the park. The hotel is in a quiet area very close to the park entrance. Food is fresh and delicious. rooms are cozy and comfy.

This was the best holiday we’ve had in China so far. Lucas and the team couldn’t have done more to make our stay exceptional. A change in COVID policy meant we had to get two PCR tests in three days before being able to visit the national park. We thought about cancelling, but instead extended our stay. I’m so glad we did - chilling out at the hotel was so relaxing and there’s a beautiful hike just by the property and outside the park. Lucas speaks excellent English and couldn’t have been more helpful in planning our stay. The food was delicious every night. Testing is really easy, with a testing site just 500m away and done with a QR code. My only regret is not staying longer.

Lucas and the other staff members were very helpful, and had great suggestions for how to best visit the park. Terrific service levels! The hotel is simple, but well-maintained and nice. The food options from the kitchen were tasty and reasonably priced.

We had an amazing time at this hotel. The property has a fantastic location near the park and the host Lucas is so kind and helpful. Lucas helped us to get tickets for the park and cable cars and he helped us arrange a driver to the train station when we left. He also helped us to plan our routes in the park which was incredibly useful and he was always available on wechat if we weren’t able to find which bus queue to stand in. Lucas also gave us lifts to the park gate (it’s only a 5 minutes away if you want to walk). We chose to stay here after reading the other reviews on booking and I’m so glad we did. The food is delicious, I can be quite a fussy eater and I happily ate the local food dishes (there are a few Western items as well but I didn’t try them). All of the staff are helpful and there’s an adorable cat too. The price is so reasonable and we would stay here every time we came to Zhangjiajie. Thank you Lucas and your team for making our stay so comfortable!

The best customer service we have ever experienced at a hotel. Lucas was in touch a couple of weeks in advance of our trip and then when we landed, he was messaging telling us what to do to get through the airport with Covid testing and paperwork and he was there waiting for us. During our stay, he took us to the entrance of the National Park, helped us buy tickets and was always so friendly when we were around the hotel, he couldn't have done more for us. We experienced some Covid restriction issues during our stay and he went out of his way to help us rectify this. The rest of the team at the hotel were also really friendly, smiley and welcoming. Good food options, freshly cooked and really tasty. The location is perfect for the Avatar Mountains too.

It's not a negative thing but a mini fridge in the room would have been a welcome addition during the summer heat to keep our drinks cool.

Our room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view from the balcony, and we liked being so near the west gate of the park. We ate in the hotel every day and always enjoyed our meals. Lucas was super helpful throughout our stay. He helped us plan our time in the park and offered great suggestions that took us to some less visited paths. We would definitely stay again!

It was one of the best experience we have ever had with a hotel. The owners were super friendly and helpful. They were happy to help with any and all questions. The room was superb. It was clean and had an awesome view of the mountain. The food was fantastic. My husband and I were there for 4 nights and every single dish we ordered was great. I would highly recommend this hotel to all.

An amazing boutique hotel with amazing owners located just 5 minutes walk to the entry of the national park - not that you could tell...it feels so peaceful there! They also serve great food! The staff make everything so easy for you! Highly recommend!

Super friendly and helpful staff. Communicated prior to arrival to arrange pickup. Every day they had a map and suggestions about where to go and what to do. Even arranged for my luggage to be delivered to the bus station on the day of my departure so I could have one last day in the park. Car service to park entrance was super quick and helpful, and they were even available via wechat during the day to help me answer any questions. Restaurant on site cooks tasty food.

The location is better for some parts of the park than for others. The park is huge, and sometimes you may have to backtrack and shuttle a lot. There is a pool, but it’s an overground pool I did not use.

It was a pleasure stayed in this hotel. The staff is amazing, all the people are kind and helpful, able to make you feel at home! A special thanks goes to Lucas and Cozy, two guys who always satisfied all my requests with a smile, and helped me plan all my tours, making everything easy. Thanks also to the chef who carefully prepared delicious dishes for us, paying attention to several details due to food allergies. What else to say? Go to Zhangjiajie and stay in this hotel to make your experience unique
