Great view of the ocean
Lovely big pool
Spacious comfortable bedrooms
The bar and restaurant staff sadly fell short of our expectations. Every day (despite the restaurant being mainly empty) we had to ask for our drinks 2-4 times to get served- even giving up one time after asking 4 times.
Staff then didn’t know how to make most of the drinks on the menu. On one occasion it took 25 minutes to get our drinks (no other people in the bar) as we watched the staff watch YouTube videos on hot to make them.
Usually I wouldn’t mind as much, but given that food and drinks are not cheap here we felt this was very poor service.
It was also the poorest value for money breakfast we had throughout our stay in Sri Lanka (despite being none of the more expensive places). Limited options, water not served or offered (despite asking), and having to pay more for any type of breakfast add on (which was not the case anywhere else we stayed through out our trip).

Its a beautiful property, as seen in the pictures, though slightly older.
Service. I checked in midday, there was only one waiter looking after the pool area and the bar and he did not speak english at all.
The food in the restaurant is quite bad. Also when you order a meal things randomly show up on your table. For instance my side dish came first floowed by the appetiser then the main dish and then bread:(

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. Perfect for a relaxing end to our tour of Sri Lanka!! We’d spent a week touring the hill country (Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella) and this pristine boutique hotel was the perfect place to relax on the beach to finish our trip!
Absolutely nothing!!

Experienced the best honeymoon experience at Owl and the Pussycat Hotel. It felt like a proper oasis outside the hustle and bustle of Galle. the staff were incredible and so helpful - we arrived late on our first day and they served us dinner outside restaurant hours. The food was great value and fresh and they have two turndown services a day. Couldn’t recommend any higher.
No faults. Even with power cuts it was seamless with the back up generator.

The perimeter or the hotel was great, and the pool/restaurant design was really nice. The rooms were also really nice.
The service could have been improved, there seemed to be a general lack of understanding from the restaurant staff and inconsistencies in the menu. We also has issues with the cleanliness of the spare bed that was added to our room.

The hotel was very stylish and well presented, especially the bar and pool which came into their own at night and the detail in the rooms is great eg. Comfortable dressing gowns and bedding etc.. The waiting staff were excellent and very kindly organised a birthday cake for my partner. The pool was clear and the rooms and bathrooms are regularly cleaned. The breakfast was huge (!), varied and delicious. The hotel is generally pretty quiet, except for the sound of the sea which is very peaceful.
We had to change rooms twice because of damp and a ceiling leak however staff were happy for us to move our room when given this feedback. The balcony door was a little rusty and the insect screen didn’t close fully. The wifi is extremely temperamental - you have to log into a new session every time you open your phone, which is quite annoying. The dinner food was rather overpriced for what we had.

unique property, on the beach with lovely outlook! lovely library/lounge to relax if needed, staff were friendly and helpful especially the reception!
I would have loved a small fridge in room but it wouldn’t stop me from staying. more Sri Lankan food on menu would be nice.

Shahani at reception was nice as well as the restaurant staff.
We felt the property lacked the finer touches you would expect for the price point. For example, the drinks served at the bar were out of a universal bottle I.e. not one bottle of coke, you’d get a glass out of a 2L bottle. Even though we were aware of the power cuts, there was no 24 hr reception as advertised. This meant we were unable to book a car (two are offered if pre-booked) for a trip the next morning and hand in laundry for the next day. And then when trying to undertake both tasks the next morning, there was nobody available until the very helpful chap at the restaurant (who was also trying to serve a full restaurant) called us a taxi, which at 6000lkr for a 20 minute journey we decided against. We then left for breakfast elsewhere. Following our return and after making them aware of our displeasure, we were offered a free meal or free treatment at the spa. However, at this point we had lost faith in the service we were receiving. The gym was not a gym. The treadmill was broken and the equipment was very limited. The padded floor had some form of water or liquid under it, so squelched and got wet when moving around. Although the turn down service they offer is a good touch, our room didn’t necessarily feel clean, I.e. fake eyelashes on the floor (potentially from previous guest?!). The room and general hotel felt like it could do with a bit of TLC, a bit of paint would really brighten it up. As a final gesture of goodwill they paid for our laundry service when we went to collect it, whilst this was appreciated, this all felt a little too late given we had refused all other previous offers. It’s a real shame given we were really looking forward to staying at the hotel, having put our trip to Sri Lanka off due to COVID for over two years.

We stayed at O&P for three nights in February. It's a lovely hotel, very clean and thoughtfully furnished and designed, with a pleasant pool and outside eating area. The room, bathroom and balcony were spacious and the interiors and artwork were lovely. There are some good facilities throughout the hotel, including a library / reading room with tons of books to choose from, a small gym which is clean and well equipped, a small balcony area overlooking the sea where we saw yoga classes in the morning, and an outside massage treatment area next to the ocean. The staff are also wonderful and are eager to help - there is also a 'turn down' service where it appeared every time we left our room someone came in and tidied up before we got back!
A note - the sea is quite literally on your doorstep, but there is no direct beach access, you have to go via a side alley next to reception and make sure the gate is unlocked. Although not ideal, it's definitely worth doing, as the beach walk to Dalawella beach is beautiful and you can spot many sea turtles (you will have to walk along the road for a bit where the beach stops but can re-access via Wijaya restaurant and carry on walking).
Unfortunately there were some drawbacks to the hotel. The first is that the hotel grounds are small enough that if there is a family with children staying on site, this will disrupt your breakfast / day / evening if you are after a relaxing retreat. There is no secluded section or private part where you can move away from the noise or general activity. The second is that the bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever stayed in at a hotel - not only could you feel the wires / springs in the mattresses, but the double was two beds pushed together. This meant that if we wanted to sleep next to each other, one of us had to sleep on a very clear and uncomfortable gap between the beds. If this was a honeymoon stay, I would be very disappointed. The third drawback is the food quality and selection - breakfast had the least variety that we had across our entire 2-week trip in Sri Lanka, and the restaurant menu was limited and not particularly enjoyable. After eating lunch and dinner here on our first day, we opted to eat outside of the hotel for every meal after.
A note for light sleepers, at night time the sea is loud, so bring earplugs!

Staff were excellent especially Dilumi and Sharon who were very helpful with all our needs. Food was very good and excellent value and we were upgraded to a larger suite which was a treat
Bar staff should be a bit more proactive at offering guests drinks by the pool. I know it has been tough for tourism in Sri Lanka during the Pandemic but there are a few areas of maintenance that need sorting just to tidy things up. Water temperature pressure in showers was indifferent at times and a few small repairs outside needed. Would be good to have direct access to the beach in from the property even with a security gate rather than have to go down a damp dark alley at the side of the hotel.

The staff were excellent from the emails before we arrived to the customer service whilst we were staying at the property for 4 nights. Shihani helped us with our PCR test in Galle amongst other things with our requirements to get back to Saudi Arabia. The breakfast was very hearty and traditional to Sri Lankan culture. It was delicious! The decor was extremely modern and eclectic and by far exceeding our expectations. The bed in the room was very comfy and I had the best nights sleep whilst in Sri Lanka at the property. We will be returning in the not so distant future.
