During our recent stay at a reputed five-star hotel, we encountered a series of unfortunate experiences that significantly detracted from our stay. Our booking consisted of two rooms, one being a suite and the other a two-bedroom unit. Upon arrival, we were dismayed to find both bathrooms in deplorable conditions. The doors could not be locked from the inside, necessitating one person to stand guard outside to prevent accidental intrusions – a considerable inconvenience and breach of privacy. We reported this issue to the maintenance team, who initially responded and fixed the problem. However, the solution was short-lived; the door lock malfunctioned again, leaving the bathroom inaccessible and us in a bind. Further exacerbating our discomfort, upon returning from prayer, we discovered that our room door was inoperable. Despite changing keys, the problem persisted, and it took two hours and maintenance intervention before we could access our room again, a particularly distressing situation as it occurred during the first day of Ramadan. When we voiced our concerns to the reception, the manager's response was disappointingly rude, displaying a lack of professionalism unworthy of a hotel of their standing. Despite requesting to speak with his superior, our request was denied, undermining the level of customer service expected at such an establishment. Although we were eventually relocated to another room, the suite's bathroom remained unrepaired, prompting us to check out prematurely. The hotel management's silence on the matter, coupled with their failure to follow up on our complaints, was disheartening. Given these experiences, we feel compelled to escalate the matter to the Hajj/Umrah Authorities, as the hotel's treatment of guests, especially during the Ramadan season, falls short of the standards prescribed by the Hajj/Umra ministry.
