Urine stains on the spare duvet in wardrobe, poor customer service, furniture looks as though it's from the free section on Facebook marketplace.

We were thankful to have somewhere to stay as most accomodation in Lower Hutt had no vacancies. We enjoyed the beds, they were comfy.

When we arrived my mum used the wrong card and it declined so the reception charged an extra $100 because our card didn’t work. We paid with a debit card. When we entered, the room did not look like the photos, we stayed in it for one night then asked to change rooms as my Aunty was planning on staying with myself and my mum and we only had 2 single beds in one tiny room. We paid an extra $160 on top of $510 for an extra person not including the $100 bond. There was no body wash/shampoo. They didn’t top up our toilet paper and milk until our 3rd day and when we checked out I had to yell for help for 15 minutes as no one was at the desk, we told the reception my Aunty didn’t stay so did we still pay for the third person. He said we paid for comfort not for an extra person and we don’t get any money back. We left with our $100 bond after he checked our room. The staff I’m presuming were only a husband and a wife and only ever saw them at the counter twice. I’m not one to review but I strongly do not recommend this hotel, the price does not match the stay. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days

Toilet didn't flush properly, we found the tv remote under a bed as we were packing indicating that room had not previously been cleaned properly, there was a towel to catch drips from a tap

The location was good

Very noisy road noise, heard the road sweeper go pass at stupid o’clock. Not overly clean, very budget wish we had stayed else where. The curtains didn’t even cover the window properly. Would not recommend. Smell downstairs from the oil used in the cooking all through the lobby.

We booked the Riddiford because it advertised a restaurant which offered both an evening meal and breakfast. Neither were available.

Rooms look tired. Noisy. Curtains are thin. No cutlery. Small tea cups for hot drinks. No hot chocolate. Not enough bedding to keep warm

Restaurant was only open 11-2. Even though books in the room said room service was available there was nothing like that, and that was the main reason we booked this option. It stated in the booking there was a restaurant on site and breakfast was available

Handy location, windows opened easily, room big enough for one person

Very thin blanket for winter night. Had to remove what I believe was a mattress duvet to use as a second blanket, although the duvet was wool so I imagine it may have been a second blanket? Near busy road but traffic wasn't too bad. Could clearly hear people above me walking around though, can especially hear stomping quite well. No SKY just freeview. $155 a night a bit expensive as I've stayed in hotels with sky offering less per night. However, Riddiford is one of the very few hotels in the Lower Hutt areaso it's basically this hotel or nothing if you're out of town and need to stay in the Hutt, besides motels.
