Food was good
The bar was chaotic. Only one person serving drinks and taking food orders. There were no menus only a chalk board by the bar that loads of people were crowding around trying to see what food was available.

The accommodation was separate from the main building so very suitable for staying with dogs.

Everything. Last minute booking (day before) nad we were delighted. Gorgeous little spot. The pub was fab, the meal was great. Room had everything - plenty of space and a comfy bed - all we needed for one night as we were touring the area. Have stayed in 15+ place over the UK in the past month and this was the best in terms of value and how nice it was.

Very old pub that has won lots of awards for ciders and ales. Accomadation is seperate to pub which is great.

Very friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable room. Enjoyable evening meal. Our one night stay required an early morning start. Staff tried to organise bringing breakfast forward 30 mins but this proved not possible. An enjoyable evening meal at this popular pub. An excellent range of beers. Plenty of car parking

Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. There was a very good choice of evening meals and breakfast was freshly cooked. The rooms were cosy.
Breakfast was slightly spoilt by the presence of a barking dog in the room. Dogs should not be allowed where food is being eaten.

The rooms were beautifully appointed and quiet, the food and atmosphere in the pub was excellent.

Reception, room, evening meal, breakfast were all excellent.
The noise caused late at night by the people who had the room next to ours. This was in no way the fault of the The Compasses.

nice room, ground floor location, plenty of space, lovely pub and evening meal was very good, great menu choices. Great parking.
Definitely a no frills breakfast, we don't eat meat so opted for poached eggs which were very nicely cooked. Cereal choice very limited, no yoghurt, so for us it definitely wasn't worth the extra charge on the room rate.

Limited choice even for Continental breakfast. No fresh fruit except for 'whole' fruit. It appeared to be more of a favour rather than a meal we paid for.
After saying that, we would certainly stay there again.

I’ve stayed here many times. it’s a popular pub with excellent accommodation. I meet my son and his family there for lunch and I stay over.

The room was very clean, comfortable, well-equipped and quiet. Absolutely no complaints at all! The food at the pub was also excellent and customer service was great. I highly recommend it!
