Very good location in the center of the village and two steps away from the beach, good bar/restaurant, great service, staff was very nice and helpful. The access to the Ylang Ylang pool is also greatly appreciated.

Our room was left unlocked and door wide open after the cleaner came. Once we told the staff at reception it was managed well.

Friendly helpful staff. Very close to restaurants, waterfall, nice beaches. Good restaurant in hotel. We had access to the sister hotel Ylang-ylang. This is a 15 minute walk away and has a swimming pool.

Our triple room had a single bed and double as expected. The double was surrounded on 3 sides by walls. The wall at the foot of the bed was sloping. This made it very difficult for the person sleeping on the furthest side to crawl over the other person if needing the loo in the night! El Sano Banano has a sign stating there is pool access. I believe that only applies to guests in triple rooms. Apparently we were not eligible for free breakfast because we booked through Booking.com. The windows had a rattan type shutter which let in a lot of light from 6am.

The room did not have any window to the outside so it felt a bit closed in but they did a good of job of making it bright so you didn't notice as much. The cleaning product they used had a VERY strong smell though which I couldn't air out due to no windows. also music from club next door was SO LOUD Saturday night and went to 4 am. It was the only night of my 3 night stay it was an issue though.

Staff & location nice.

I specifically chose the room that I did because of the pictures. I did not get what I had seen on the listing. Requested quiet room & was told yes. Yet I was put next to the stairs & close to the restaurant. Two glass windows look out at a hallway meaning people can look in too. They didn’t have anywhere else to put me. Other people checking in were told of complimentary breakfast. I was excluded of that because I used booking.com. I was told if I booked through them it would be same price & breakfast would be included.

Brilliant staff, lovely clean rooms with A/C, hot water and really comfortable beds. Pool is around a 20min walk along the beach which we really enjoyed using also. The bar restaurant area is a lovely place to sit with great value happy hour cocktails and good food.

The rooms are quite small however we didn’t spend much time in there. We had a lovely stay but do feel this place is overpriced seeing as the pool isn’t on site and no breakfast included.

The food here was very good. The location is very convenient to everything in town. Although centrally located the room was very quiet and sleeping was no problem.

We didn’t have a window in our room-would have been nice. Other rooms do have windows overlooking the street.

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast at the restaurant was wonderful. Breakfast bowl smoothie was the best. And had the best nights sleep in the massive King size bed. Access to the pool at Ylang Ylang hotel was the cherry on the cake!

Wifi was often not working so was tricky to do work from the laptop.

Everything was fantastic! The location, the staff, the restaurant. Everything was great! Also—to people that complained about hot water—the showers were great! There is a box right over the shower that lets you increase the temperature. also—the pool is a short walk away on the beach like 7 minutes. And it is fantastic! I highly recommend this hotel!

Spacious and clean room. Food in the restaurant was good and personal very friendly.

We had a great time here, the staff made our trip so special. Having access to the pool at Ylang Ylang was such a treat, we used it every day. I loved Montezuma and El Sano Banana is right in the heart of everything!

I like to go to bed early so the front rooms were a little noisy sometimes. If you are like this then ask for one at the back.

The hotel was overall very convenient and pleasant. We asked for a room with windows and were accomodated. Everything was simple, but sufficient. Great value for money and excellent location!

The hotel restaurant had very slow service, but not much slower than the montezuma average.

I would not recommend El Sano Banano. The room we were given had no windows in it, which immediately was a red flag for us. It felt like a cave and also smelled musty (probably due to the lack of ventilation). We asked if we could switch rooms and they said there wasn't anything else available. We would have appreciated some warning when we booked it that there would be no window as we would have stayed somewhere else, the lack of natural light was unsettling. It wasn't cheap either, for much less money we stayed in much nicer places in the same town. The staff was not particularly friendly or welcoming. We got there a few hours before check in and asked if there was any chance of getting in early (something that every single other hotel we stayed at in Costa Rica was happy to at least check for), the man checking us in immediately said no, without even checking to see if the room was already cleaned. We are very reasonable, we understand that its not always possible but it was the fact that they didn't even check and were rude. The restaurant downstairs is okay, hit or miss though in terms of quality. During our trip we have stayed in over 15 hotels and air BNBs and this was our least favourite. The wifi was also patchy.
