The woman who runs the place tried to scam us by asking 300 Dirhams for dinner. We had a long and exhausting negotiation with her and finally she accepted 150 Dirham. We asked for the price of the dinner in advance 3 times, and she refused to tell us how much it would be, but assured it would depend upon us (if we liked the meal or not). This was obviously not true, and when we finished she just asked us 300 Dirhams. She also "included" a tea she had offered us upon arrival in the total price (which is usually a courtesy when welcoming hosts in Morocco). The room had no ventilation and was poorly isolated from outside noises and light. The WiFi was not working at all. All in all, I do not recommend this place for a traveller who is looking for a peaceful place to rest a bit.

At gite El menzeh we spent a very comfortable night, welcomed by the owner and her brother despite a last-minute reservation. Dinner was prepared for us and also an excellent breakfast. The bed was the most comfortable during my 12-day stay around Morocco and the private bathroom was clean and with a comfortable and spacious shower. There is a parking lot 2/3 minutes away where we left the car for 10dirham per night (1€) and 5 minutes away you enter the heart of the village moulay Idriss. The owner is an attentive, helpful and friendly person.

Nouzha, the host, is kind and hospitable. The breakfast was good.

It was very difficult to find.

It was very clean, close to the grand taxi stand and a fairly short walk down to to Volubilis (took a taxi back). The host doesn’t speak English, but was very patient with us and our bad French. We resorted to Google Translate for most of our communication. We had a great time when the door handle malfunctioned- we were trying to get out, she was trying to let us out. Ah, the things travel stories are made of...! There really wasn’t a functioning restaurant on site, but we had a nice tagine dinner (€12 each), and the included breakfast was very good. It was a nice stay, especially at the price. We didn’t have a tv or heat in the room, but got extra blankets and got a good night’s sleep. Nice and quiet!

Property was ok; we found the town a bit difficult- I think we were the only tourists there; felt a bit targeted-
